Chapter 117

Wynn got back to the restaurant and walked straight over to the table where Paris was sitting with his future in-laws. “Paris, good morning.”
“Um, hi. Do we know each other?” Paris questioned, confused, the entire table looking at Wynn.
“You don’t know who I am? Your best friend dude,” Wynn chuckled, even though he felt he was betraying their friendship a little for chasing after Ann.
“He got shot a few months ago and has memory loss,” Jenna chipped in.
“Well, what a coincidence. Now I have a best man for tomorrow,” Paris chuckled and stood up to shake Wynn’s hand.
“A best man?” Wynn asked confused, stepping out of Paris’s reach realizing that Paris must really have memory loss for thinking he could touch a hybrid without wanting to kill them.
“I am getting married tomorrow,” Paris said proudly and introduced Jenna and her family to Wynn.
“You are getting married?” Wynn choked and wondered if he should inform Paris that he had a girlfriend. ‘I should. It is the right thing to do. I will have to release Ann from the compelling she is under,’ Wynn thought, feeling a little heartbroken, realizing that he can not be with Ann. ‘It is not as if Paris dumped her, he just does not remember her.’
“Why were you and that woman crawling out of here just now?” Paris asked, remembering that he looked straight at Wynn earlier. “Does she know me as well?” Paris wondered since he never saw her face.
“Well, um,” Wynn could not find the words since he was not sure how to proceed and felt he can’t exactly tell Paris here in front of everyone the day before his wedding day that he has a girlfriend.
“Bachelor party tonight. Meet me at the little bar to the North of the Island,” Wynn said and walked off.
“Wait!” Paris called after him, making Wynn turn around.
“How long have we been friends?” Paris asked, hoping that they grew up together so that he can find out more about his life.
“We will talk tonight, ok? I have a bachelor party for two to plan,” Wynn said, and left before Paris could stop him again.
“How did you end up being best friends with a scatterbrain like that?” Jenna wondered, laughing.
“Tell me about it,” Paris laughed and sat down, thinking it was odd that even a guy that claims to be his best friend stepped away from him when he tried to shake his hand but didn’t want to say anything.
“Excuse me,” Paris said and stood up from the table. “I can’t wait all day to get answers. How does someone say that they are your best friend and then rush off?”
“You go ahead, I will find you,” Jenna said, happy for Paris.

Wynn got back to Ann’s hotel room and immediately knew that she has left since a few of her favorite things were missing. ‘She can’t be far since she never wanted to leave the island before,’ Wynn thought at the many times he tried to get her to visit the mainland with him.
Wynn turned to leave when he almost walked into Paris. “Paris.”
“Sorry, but I can not wait a whole day to get answers,” Paris said and then froze, Ann’s scent hitting him. ‘The girl from my dreams.’
“Where is your girlfriend?” Paris asked.
“My girlfriend? No, she is not my girlfriend,” Wynn chuckled. “I wish.”
Wynn saw from the look on Paris's face that something was up. “Are you ok?”
“That scent,” Paris said, sniffing the air, thinking it felt like home.
‘Ann’s scent,’ Wynn realized and wondered if he should break it to Paris now that Ann was his girlfriend and what he was or should he just leave Paris with his memory loss since Michael will never stop trying to make Ann his.
“So, where is your friend? Is she my friend as well?” Paris wondered since the scent lingering in the air was familiar to him.
‘I will be damned if I am just going to allow Michael to have Ann,’ Wynn thought when he picked Michael’s scent up. ‘He was here.’
“She is your girlfriend. Well, was your girlfriend,” Wynn finally let it out.
“Dark long hair, hazel-green eyes?” Paris questioned.
“Yes. So you do remember,” Wynn accused.
“Not exactly. I have been dreaming about this woman every night,” Paris explained.
“Yet you are getting married?” Wynn frowned. ‘Must be true love if she imprinted on Paris's memory forever,’ Wynn thought and knew he would happily give Ann up to see Paris and her happy.
“My fiancé does not know about my dreams. So, where is she? I need to talk to her,” Paris looked around, knowing that he has to break up with this girl from his dreams if he wants to marry Jenna.
“She either left or is hiding somewhere on the island. That is why we were crawling out of the restaurant. When she saw you with another woman, she ran in the opposite direction,” Wynn chuckled.
“Instead of confronting me?” Paris asked, thinking it was weird.
“There are lot of things you don’t know,” Wynn said, keeping his distance from him.
“Why do you step away from me every time I get near you?” Paris finally asked. “Katelina and her boyfriend, Michael did exactly the same,” Paris said, picking up on Wynn’s strange behavior.
“You met Katelina and Michael?” Wynn questioned.
“Yeah, months ago. It is because of them that I got my identity back. Katelina showed up at my finance’s pub and then brought Michael around,” Paris explained.
“They are not your friends,” Wynn said and walked out of Ann’s room, scanning the landscape.
“Michael said that Katelina had the hots for me,” Paris remembered.
“She still does but Michael hates you. Let’s just say that the two of you love the same woman,” Wynn explained.
“He didn’t mention anything,” Paris frowned, standing next to Wynn. “What are you looking for? Where is this so-called girlfriend? What is her name, by the way?”
“Dude, stop coming so near me,” Wynn said, stepping away from Paris.
“Why?” Paris said and reached out with intention, getting hold of Wynn.
The surge of energy sends a bolt through Paris that his brain didn’t know what to do with making him pass out.
Wynn felt relieved that Paris passed out but now faced a problem. ‘Do I leave him and track down Michael’s scent or do stick around and wait for Paris to wake up?’
“What the hell happened? What did you do to him?!” Jenna’s screaming jerked Wynn’s attention to her.
“I, I,” Wynn choked on his words watching Jenna drop down to her knees next to Paris.
‘Paris has Jenna. She clearly loves him and will take care of him,’ Wynn thought and sped off when Jenna was not looking to find Michael, thinking that he had abducted Ann.
Wynn didn’t have to go far to find Michael and as expected, Ann was sitting next to him sipping on her favorite cocktail.
“Wynn, look who I found,” Ann said with a smile on her face. “You should know him. He goes to the same varsity as you and a few months in the same high school.”
“Michael,” Michael said and held out his hand to Wynn making him realize that Michael picked up on that Ann was compelled to forget all about the supernatural world.
“What brings you to this island?” Wynn played along and sat down.
“A little holiday,” Michael said. “Imagine my surprise when I run into my recent ex-girlfriend feeling the hotel lobby.”
“We dated for a brief moment if memory serves me correct,” Ann blushed. “What a small world after all. Before we know it my whole high school will be rocking up here.”
“The last time I checked this island is not that well known so what really brings you here?” Wynn questioned already picking up how comfortable Ann was with Michael.
“It’s just a coincidence,” Michael chuckled and relaxed backward in the beach chair.
“Ann, can we talk?” Wynn said, holding out his hand to her.
“Please tell me Ethan is not staying too long,” Ann said, taking his hand and standing up.
“Who is Ethan?” Michael asked.
“Also, an ex-boyfriend,” Wynn said with no intention to inform Michael that Paris was on the island about to get married.
“Ann, since you are single why not let me take you out for dinner tonight? Perhaps this time around I will stand a real chance,” Michael asked.
Ann blushed looking from Wynn to Michael, feeling half guilty about saying yes to Michael when she knew that Wynn liked her in a romantic way.
“You are kidding, right? Don’t you have a girlfriend named Katelina?” Wynn put him on the spot.
“Katelina? Sounds familiar. Do I know her?” Ann asked, trying to place Katelina in her memory.
“Fuck it,” Wynn said and was not going to allow Michael to sweep Ann off her feet. Wynn took out his shaman necklace and before Michael could do anything about it, Wynn swept Ann up and sped off with her while doing the shaman hymn to lift all compelling over Ann while Michael chased after them.
