Chapter 145

Wynn asked Princess Bently halfway through her climax to marry him.

“Are you mad?” Princess Bently gasped.

“It was worth the try,” Wynn said, before kissing her.

A day later the letter arrived and Wynn mind linked Prince Deacon that it did.

‘Please send Benjamin and Deserey with some clothing and my business suitcase,’ Prince Deacon mind linked him the location.

‘When will you be back?’ Wynn asked.

‘I won’t be back. Make sure you send Emily’s letter back with them,’ Prince Deacon mind linked him.

‘Be sure to send me a wedding invite,’ Wynn mind linked with a grin on his face.

‘By the way, did Princess Freda tell you that she has met her fated mate?’ Prince Deacon mind linked.

‘She did not. She keeps to her room most of the time. That must be why she is so different,’ Wynn mind linked in shock.

‘I think Prince Adio was her fated mate, but it is believed that he committed suicide shortly after she returned,’ Prince Deacon explained what happened.

‘You don’t think she accidentally killed him?’ Wynn wondered.

‘She told me that she has found her fated mate, so I don’t believe she was the one that killed him. Perhaps a jealous wife,’ Prince Deacon suggested.

‘Well, I will let you know if anyone comes knocking with inquiries,’ Wynn mind linked back.

The next day Wynn send Deserey and Benjamin off to their new workplace.

‘Let me know when I should bring your furniture over,’ Wynn mind linked Prince Deacon.

‘No, keep it there, I will rent a furniture place and have Emily choose the décor of our new house,’ Prince Deacon mind linked back, overjoyed at the prospect.

As soon as Deserey and Benjamin arrived with his luggage, Benjamin booked themself into a room and Prince Deacon into a suite fully roomed with a bedroom and separate sitting room, drawing room, and dining room.

Prince Deacon sneaked in, still in his wolf form, and once in his suit, he shifted back into his human form, stretching out as he has never been that long in his wolf form before. After a quick bath, Benjamin helped him get dressed.

“I will wait here. I am sure by now Emily is searching for me as Puppy, so go take a walk with Deserey near her house and when you spot her, make sure she notices you before you explain to her that I am in town,” Prince Deacon instructed.

“Should I give her the address?” Benjamin asked, holding his jacket out.

“No, I am sure she will invite me over for dinner,” Prince Deacon said, pulling at the hem of his jacket and positioning it in place.

“If she doesn’t?” Benjamin asked.

“She will,” Prince Deacon said, sure of himself.

Benjamin and Deserey took a walk to Emily’s house, which was not too far from the hotel where they were staying.

“Puppy,” they heard Emily call out.

“Guess we should walk over,” Deserey suggested.

“Excuse my rudeness, aren't you two Prince Deacon’s servants?” Emily asked when she recognized them, flushed and red-faced.

“We are. Everything ok?” Deserey spoke up.

“I lost his dog, I mean his wolf,” Emily said, out of breath.

“He is with Lord Deacon, dear,” Deserey said, putting her at ease.

“Lord Deacon is here?” Emily asked, her eyes lighting up. Emily composed herself, looking around, making Deserey and Benjamin giggle.

“He is back at the hotel, he arrived a short while ago,” Benjamin said.

“How long will he stay? Now that he has found Puppy?” Emily asked.

“He came more for just Puppy,” Deserey said, smiling, making Emily blush, her cheeks turning red.

“I am looking forward to seeing him. Will you let him know?” Emily asked.

“We will let him know,” Benjamin said before they continue their pretentious walk.

“Perhaps you can wait a minute? I will be right back,” Emily said, running into her house.

After a short while, she returned with a note. “Please give him this invitation.”

‘How did he know she will invite him over?’ Benjamin thought to himself, taking the note and smiling.

Emily went back into the house. “Papa, I hope it is ok. I invited Lord Deacon for dinner.”

“Is he in town?” Alfred asked, lifting his head from the newspaper.

“Yes,” Emily said, filled with joy, excitedly walking to the kitchen to make sure the cook prepared something outstanding.

That evening Emily could not decide what to wear and when she finally decided on what to wear, Prince Deacon had already arrived.

As Prince Deacon was shown by their butler to the dining room, he got stopped in his tracks by the sight of Emily coming down the stairs, wearing deep red, flowing dress, her hair loose in waves cascading down her back. Her eyes met his and the butterflies in her tummy made her feel as if she was floating on cloud nine.

Prince Deacon wanted to go onto one knee and prose right there and then, but felt it was not romantic enough. ‘I should go get a ring tomorrow,’ he thought, putting his hand out to her when she reached the last step.

“Good evening,” Emily greeted with her prettiest smile on her face, her smile also in her eyes.

“Good evening,” Prince Deacon said, before kissing a gloved hand.

Over the next few weeks, Prince Deacon took Emily with him, looking at homes, and one afternoon they drove out to a lake where a beautiful picnic with a table and pots of rose trees was beautifully arranged. When Emily saw the musical band, she knew that today was the day she was getting engaged.

After home-made Scotch eggs, apricot and pistachio sausage rolls, crudites and dips, smoked salmon and caviar, cold lobster, truffled pâté en croute with quinoa salad, they had fresh berries and cream.

“Dance with me,” Prince Deacon said, standing up.

Emily took his hand before standing up. They dance for one song before Prince Deacon went down on one knee and presented her with a ring.

“Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” Prince Deacon asked, looking up with puppy eyes.

“Yes,” Emily said, letting him put the ring on her finger.

After putting the ring on her finger, he stood up and kissed her deeply, but softly.

After a seven-month engagement, Emily was walking down the aisle of the local church wearing her dream wedding dress, her hair done up for a change.

Reaching the front of the chapel, her father lifted her veil, revealing a little pearl tiara, and she passed her red bouquet to Princess Freda that came to be her maid of honor, rekindling their friendship.

After the proceedings and getting to the point of saying ‘I do,’ it was Prince Deacon’s turn first.

“Lord Deacon Makens, do you take Miss Emily Bryon to be your lawful wedded wife to love and to hold, to cherish and to love until death do you part?” the priest asked.

“Till death and beyond, I do,” Prince Deacon said, slipping the wedding band onto her finger.

“Miss Emily Bryon, do you take Lord Deacon Makens to be your lawful, wedded husband to hold and cherish, through sickness and in health until death do you part?” the priest repeated the question to Emily to accept.

“I do,” Emily said, but lost her smile, the shock, and emotions clear in her eyes.

Prince Deacon noticed the turmoil in her eyes and wondered what was going on.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride,” the priest said.

Prince Deacon leaned in and kissed her, but she did not return the kiss. As soon as Prince Deacon pulled away, Emily slapped him through his face making their guest and the priest gasp in shock.

Prince Deacon realized that Lord Dario must have compelled her to forget and only remember her time at the council in America when she said, ‘I do,’ at the altar on her wedding day to him.

“I present to you Lord Deacon and Lady Emily Makens,” the priest finally said.

As they turn to face the church, the doors opened, and in walked King Makens and Queen Lana, and Prince Deacon’s brothers with over a dozen royal pack members.
