Chapter 69
The next day, Michael didn’t even notice that Katelina was not around as he was focused on Ann.
By mid-day Michael overheard Jessica talking to Ann. “I wonder where Katelina is.”
“Makes two of us,” Ann said and looked over to where Michael was sitting with Wynn and Deacon.
‘When did you last see Katelina? She never came to the room last night, and she was not in class this morning,’ Jessica mind linked Wynn.
“Where is Katelina? I didn’t notice her in class and Jessica says she didn’t sleep in the dorm room last night,” Wynn talked to Michael.
“I have not,” Michael said and stood up, his chair making a screeching sound. “Excuse me.”
As soon as Michael believed he was out of sight, he sped over to the higher council and straight to the dungeons. He came to an abrupt halt and didn’t know what shocked him most: the fact that Katelina betrayed him or the fact that Torvald was gone.
Michael sped back to varsity and pretended that everything was fine because he didn’t want to execute Katelina and knew if anyone found out what she did that they would demand it from him.
Shysie noticed that Michael looked off during class and stood up mid-class and walked out, hinting at Michael to follow, as she just had to know what was up.
Michael followed her out of class and didn’t go un-noticed by Ann and Jessica.
“It looks like your boyfriend is adding another girlfriend,” Jessica whispered to Ann.
“No way, the lolly-pop girl?” Ann choked. ‘Can’t believe he is already bored with me,’ she thought and focused her attention on the lecture.
“What is up?” Shysie asked.
“You pulled me out of class to ask me what was up?” Michael asked in disbelief.
“Something is up. I can see it all over your face,” Shysie pointed out and made Michael wonder if she could see it, then who else has picked it up?
“Next time you seek an audience with me, make sure it is important,” Michael spat, and walked back into class.
Shysie rolled her eyes behind his back. ‘Does he have something to do with Paris’s disappearance?’ she wondered and followed him into class.
Deacon and Wynn were to distracted by their love lives to notice something was off with Michael.
After class, Ami and Wynn disappeared, and Deacon waited for Jessica.
“Are you going to sleep your way through varsity?” Deacon accused when Jessica walked out of Mr. Lestat’s class.
Jessica slapped him through his face without a word and walked off.
“I am sorry!” Deacon called after her.
‘I should get one of the vampires to compel him to leave her alone,’ Deacon thought, and followed Jessica to the pool.
Jessica knew Deacon was following her and soon found herself in a game of cat and mouse.
While running away from Deacon, she snugged into a classroom that she thought was empty but was not.
“Forgot something?” Mr. Lestat asked, on his way out.
“Wrong class,” Jessica chuckled and was about to leave when he pressed his hand against the door. “Are you sure?”
With Mr. Lestat so near she could smell him, she found herself strangely enough not attracted to him or his muscle scent and it anger her. ‘The fated bond is getting stronger, making me want only Deacon,’ Jessica thought and grabbed Mr. Lestat’s shirt, fisting it and pulling him to her until his lips touched hers.
Deacon was about to open the classroom door when he felt the betrayal of her kiss.
‘What are you doing?’ Deacon forced himself into her mind.
‘Fuck off,’ Jessica mind linked him and forced him out, desperate to put distance between her and her ever-growing feelings for Deacon.
Deacon rested his head against the same door that Mr. Lestat was pinning Jessica to from the other side, tears running down his at the betrayal.
Jessica felt strange in her heart while Mr. Lestat was thrusting into her. No how hard she tried to focus on the moment and forget Deacon she couldn’t. Mr. Lestat exploded inside of her, breathing heavy, with his forehead pressed against her. “Are you on contraception?”
“Will get on that right away,” Jessica said and turned to leave the classroom when Mr. Lestat pinned her to the door, his front against her back her front against the door. Jessica could sense Deacon on the other side and guilt swept over her.
“I am not done with you, not by a long shot,” Mr. Letat said, and sucked her ear before opening the door and giving her some room to leave. Mr. Lestat did not care to much about the fact that Deacon was standing right there and positioned his clothes before grabbing his boho briefcase bag and leaving, a satisfying smile on his face.
Jessica could not bring herself to look at Deacon and attempted to walk pass him, but he grabbed her by her upper arm. Jessica kept her eyes on the ground feeling guilty as hell, knowing she went too far.
“Look at me,” he demanded her, using his kingship authority.
Jessica raised her eyes to his and found them wet.
“You will pay for what you have done,” Deacon said and let go of her arm.
His tone send shivers down her spine and she knew he meant every word.
Deacon watched Jessica walk away and took out his phone. “I need you,” is all he said when Emily, one of his former fated mates, turned vampire by Wynn, answered the phone.
“I am on my way,” Emily said and sped over from Alaska to the higher council in New York. She used all the night-time and stayed over for the day mid-way before continuing. She reached the penthouse that still belonged to Hannah and her former husband and their vampire nest and stayed there for the day, enjoying the sunrise since there penthouse had special glass that protected them from the sun but still allowed them to enjoy some sort of day light, almost like tinted windows.
Emily took out her phone and called Deacon.

Deacon felt his phone vibrate during their morning class and peeked at it and looked at Jessica and was surprised to find her looking over her shoulder at him.
Jessica quickly looked back to the front and didn’t notice Deacon leave.
“You seem distracted today,” Ann whispered.
“I had sex with Mr. Lestat,” Jessica whispered back.
“Slut,” Ann said a bit too loud.
“Look who’s talking,” Jessica whispered.
“At least I am not fucking my way trough my education career,” Ann whispered and felt angry at Jessica feeling that she can’t compete with Jessica to be top of their class if Jessica sleeps her way to the position. ‘Higher school all over again,’ Ann thought. Jessica didn’t have sex with her high school teachers, but she did have a flirtatious, romantic relationship with them.
Jessica didn’t know how to respond to Ann and wondered if anyone else heard Ann. Halfway through the day during one of their classes Jessica felt a familiar sharp pain in her chest and mind linked Deacon. ‘Please, don’t,’ she pleaded.
‘I told you will pay for what you have done,’ Deacon mind linked her back. Deacon got to Emily fast with the help of one of Michael’s former wives that was residing at the higher council that took a fancy to one of his brothers.
“Are you ok?” Ann asked, concerned about Jessica that was clutching her chest.
“I just need some fresh air,” Jessica said, getting out of her chair and storming out of the class. Jessica rushed over to the bathrooms and locked herself in one of the cubicles, suffering through the pain of Deacon’s betrayal to the mate bond.
Jessica could not believe how long it went on for. She heard students come and go in between classes.
Eventually she heard everything quiet down but not the pain. ‘Are you trying to kill me?’ Jessica eventually mind linked Deacon when she could take no more.
The thought has not crossed Deacon’s mind before but now that she put it there, he thought that maybe it will be a way out. ‘Yes,’ Deacon responded and continued having sex with Emily despite the fact that he could feel the amount of pain Jessica was in. Deacon blocked Jessica out of his mind. ‘I don’t have to hear her pleading thoughts, I will feel it when she dies,’ he thought and did his best to ignore the pain.

Ann got to the dorm room and felt lonely with both Katelina and Jessica absent. She took out her phone and was about to call up Michael but then she remembered he was pursuing Shysie. ‘I shouldn’t be heart up. I knew what I was getting into. If he wants another girlfriend then I should accept it, after all, he gave up one of them for me,’ Ann thought and dialled Jessica’s number instead.
Ann tried Jessica again and again but got no answer. She then thought about Katelina and dialled her and was surprised when Katelina answered.
“Katelina, are you ok?” Ann asked.
“I am, thanks for caring,” Katelina said.
“Where are you?” Ann wondered.
“I hope you won’t be mad, but, well, you see,” Katelina started and wondered if she should tell Ann that she was Paris.
Ann waited patiently for Katelina to gather her thoughts.
“I am with Paris,” Katelina finally blurted out, holding her breath.
“Just be careful and don’t hope for to much with that one,” Ann said not feeling anything about Paris being with Katelina.
“You are not mad?” Katelina questioned.
