Chapter 91

Wynn walked into the lycan throne room and saw a few royals standing around. All Deacon’s brothers were there and Ondrink, whom he almost didn’t recognize.
“Ondrink, I would have not known it is you if I did not know you many years ago,” Wynn greeted, looking at a young Ondrink that looked as young as everyone else.
“Wynn,” Ondrink shook his hand. Ondrink’s hair was long, no longer grey but dark, and his native appearance appealing.
“What happened to you?” Wynn questioned as the last time he saw Ondrink he was growing old to leave this life.
“Prehistoric vampires,” Ondrink said.
“I am confused,” Wynn said, looking at Deacon that was just as surprised as him.
“Now that Wynn has arrived,” Ondrink said and looked over at Jessica, disappointed that they did not fate to one another again, “we shall begin.”
Ondrink put his warbonnet, which was made out of snow-owl feathers, onto his head.
“Let me geuss, you were hoping that Jessica and Wynn fate again?” Deacon chuckled. “Well, Wynn is fated to Ami, so get over it.”
“Actually, we are not fated anymore,” Wynn said, and took his place next to Deacon’s brothers.
Deacon’s eyes landed on Jessica, expecting a reaction, but was surprised when she did not react.
Jessica stood up from Deacon’s throne and joined him.
Mr. Ondrink was just about to start the ritual when Deacon stopped him.
“I am glad that you were going to keep your promise but belief me or not, I do care about you and I admit, I have fallen deeply in love with you,” Deacon said, taking Jessica’s hands. “I won't force you to be with me.”
‘What the hell ever. He just found out that he can make Emily a human, so probably having second thoughts,’ Jovita mind linked Jessica.
“Does Emily have anything to do with your sudden change of heart?” Jessica snorted, feeling her heart break a little. Even though she has been stubborn, denying her love for Deacon, fated bond or not, she knew she loved him since she was so desperate to claim Lestat so that she can stop thinking about Deacon.
Deacon looked over at Jovita and Juno. ‘I said the contents of the letter stay between us,’ he mind linked them with a stern warning.
Jessica pulled her hands from Deacon and embarrassedly left the throne room.
“Jessica, wait,” Deacon ran after her.
“I guess I am not needed after all,” Ondrink said and took the warbonnet off his head.
“Ah, did I miss it? I was looking forward,” Soroya said, running into the throne room, eager to see a shaman at work. Soroya swallowed her words when her eyes fell on Ondrink.
‘MATE,’ Ondrink felt ripping through his soul.
Even though Soroya could not feel it as strongly as Ondirnk because she is just a human, it was love at first sight.
“Did Ondrink just fated to Soroya?” Jovita asked, looking at the two of them, looking at each other, not noticing all eyes were on them.
“Ondrink? Are you ok?” Wynn questioned, looking at Mr. Ondrink that looked as if he has seen a ghost.
“This is not possible. I have seen Soroya before. Not even six months ago,” Mr. Ondrink choked out.
“Did you just fate to Soroya?” Wynn chuckled, looking over at Soroya who did not know that she was looking at the shaman she saw months ago as an old pack shaman.
“I did,” Mr. Ondrink said, not sure what to do with himself.
“What are you going to do now?” Wynn chuckled.
“Un-mate, of course. I am way too old for her. I might look young, but you all know I am like half a millennium,” Mr. Ondrink said and walked over to Soroya.
“She is actually older than you. She is a millennium old,” Wynn informed him.
“Even the more reason to un-mate. She is too old for me,” Mr. Ondrink said.
“What is going on?” Soroya questioned when the young shaman that she just fell in love head over heels for came to a halt in front of her.
“You are his fated mate,” Jovita said.
“I am?” Soroya smiled, clearly happy about it.
“Owen Ondrink, reject,…”
Soroya leaped into him and flung her arms around his neck before kissing him, preventing him from finishing his rejection.
Instead of pushing her away, Mr. Ondrink wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back, the energy running through his soul. Ondrink came to his senses and pushed her away.
“Why did you,” he started, but his wolf took over and forced him into shifting, tearing the clothes off his back, and giving Soroya a fright.
Soroya gave out a little shout when the wolf jumped her to the ground and bit her on her collarbone, claiming her as his forever mate, making everyone gasp.
Deacon got back to the throne room and looked at a screaming Soroya on the floor with Mr. Ondrink in wolf form on top of her. When he noticed the blood on her, he laughed.
“He started to reject her after he fated to her, but then she kissed him and before we knew it he shifted and claimed her,” Wynn explained to Deacon what just happened.
“Ha, I know that feeling. His wolf must have taken over. He's been single for a very long time,” Deacon chuckled, remembering when his own wolf took over and claimed Emily as his forever mate more than a century ago.
“Soroya, I suggest you show Ondrink to your room,” Deacon laughed.
“This is Mr. Ondrink?” Soroya frowned, confused.
“The one and only,” Wynn laughed at Mr. Ondrink that was growling at him.
“What happened?” Soroya questioned, putting her hand where he bit her.
“He claimed you as his forever mate,” Wynn told her.
“Not him. His wolf's side,” Deacon corrected.
“I know he claimed me, but why?” Soroya asked.
“Sometimes when our wolf's side had enough of our stubbornness, they take over,” Jovita explained.
“I see,” Soroya said. “Come on you,” Soroya said with a smile and turned to leave.
“Don’t forget his warbonnet,” Deacon stopped her, walking over with the warbonnet.
Everyone left the throne room but Deacon, Wynn, Jovita, and Juno.
“Where is Jessica?” Jovita questioned.
“She didn’t want to speak,” Deacon said, looking at Jovita. “You just had to ruin everything? What gives you the right?”
“Well, am I wrong? Emily is the reason why you didn’t want to go through with it?” Jovita accused.
“I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend again,” Deacon hissed. “Emily has nothing to do with it.”
“My bad,” Jovita said.
“Yes, your bad,” Deacon spat and walked towards the door but then came to a halt and turned to Wynn. “You said you and Ami are no longer fated mates?”
“I did,” Wynn sighed.
“What happened?” Deacon asked, waiting for Wynn to catch up with him before they left the throne room.
