Chapter 66
After class one day, Ami paid her mother a visit that was staying at the higher council.
“Daughter dearest,” Queen Amirah greeted when Ami walked into the Were-owl throne room.
“Mother, brother,” Ami greeted them both. She kissed her mother on the cheek and then looked over at her brother Andre, that was sitting in the chair that her father used to sit in. Ami put the thoughts of killing the new Vampire king, Michael, aside as he was to blame for the death of her father and so many other royals.
“You live so near, but yet I never see you,” her mother complained.
“Varsity life keeps me busy,” Ami said.
“And your boyfriends, I suppose?” her mom questioned, even though she already knew about Eero and Stella as she set up the whole thing.
“We broke up,” Ami said and sat on a chair next to her mother’s throne.
“Really? Why?” her mother questioned, pretending to be concerned.
“Mother, please don’t pretend that you feel bad about it. I know, and everyone else knows, that you never liked the idea of Eero and me,” Ami said, rolling her eyes.
“I have a wedding to plan,” Ander said smoothly and left.
“I have to run as well. I just came to say hello,” Ami said, and wanted to leave.
“Please stay the night,” her mother pleaded.
“May some other time,” Ami declined.
“We can watch a movie. I will make some fudge popcorn,” her mother pleaded.
“You mean you will have your cook make some fudge popcorn,” Ami said and sat down again.
“What move do you want to watch?” queen Amirah asked, delighted to have some mother-daughter time.
“I am just staying for the fudge popcorn so you can choose the movie,” Ami said with a smile.
Ami spent the night with her mother, Deacon spent the night pining over Jessica, Michael spent the night making love to Ann, and Katelina spent the night in the dungeons with Paris while Torvald kept to himself.
The next day Wynn woke up at the higher council and picked up Ami’s familiar scent. ‘Must be visiting her mother,’ he thought and got ready to go to class. Wynn made his way over to the sunroom to have breakfast first when he saw the back of Ami. Wynn walked over with a smile and thought he would have breakfast with her and her family, even though he could not stand Andre.
“Good morning,” Wynn greeted the table and when Ami heard his voice, she looked around as Wynn’s hand landed on her shoulder. ‘MATE,’ they both felt rip through them. Both of them looked at each other in shock.
‘Why only now?’ Ami mind linked Wynn, confused.
‘Don’t ask me. Me fate-mating has always been random, and you won’t be the first woman I mate with after knowing for a while,’ Wynn mind linked back and sat down next to her.
“Good morning, Wynn,” Queen Amirah greeted him, but Andre didn’t bother to acknowledge him.
An omega set a plate down in front of Wynn, while a few others followed with dishes in hand.
Ami picked at her breakfast in silence. ‘Could it be that I have only just reached full puberty?’ Ami wondered.
‘Could be. It happened to Jessica in the same way,’ Wynn answered her thoughts.
‘I was just thinking. I wasn’t talking to you,’ Ami chuckled after mind linking him.
‘I know. Do you want to un-mate?’ Wynn mind linked her back, wondering how she felt about it.
Ami looked at him in shock. ‘I, um, well.’ “Excuse me,” Ami said and stood up from the table and blocked Wynn out.
“Everything ok?” Queen Amirah questioned.
‘Don’t go,’ Wynn tried to mind link but when he felt he was not getting through, he stood up. “You stay, I will go.”
“What is going on?” Queen Amirah questioned.
“Do you have something to do with this?” Wynn spat, putting two and two together.
Ami didn’t stay but, instead, ran off.
“To do with what?” Queen Amirah asked, confused, wiping her mouth with her napkin.
Wynn started to walk away, but Queen Amirah ran after him.
“Why don’t we go talk someplace private,” Queen Amirah called after him and before Wynn knew what hit him, he was in her private quarters.
“My offer still stands,” Queen Amirah said and slipped the strap of her dress off her shoulders, trying to seduce Wynn.
“I just fated to Ami,” Wynn sighed and left her room.
“What? Really?” Queen Amirah exclaimed.
“Yes, really,” Wynn said and stormed off to go find Ami.
“Well, that is fantastic!” she called after him with a big smile. ‘The were-owls will now have the opportunity to rule the supernatural kingdom. That is if I can convince the two of them to stay mated and actually claim each other,’ she thought and adjusted her strap back onto her shoulder.

It’s been less than a week that Katelina had to visit Paris every night and show him what Michael and Ann were up to but somewhere in between watching Michael and Ann, she fell out of love with Michael.
“Are you ok?” Paris asked her one evening when she didn’t offer her palm to him.
“Yeah,” Katelina said and offered her palm to him.
“No thanks, I get the point,” Paris chuckled. Katelina smiled and was about to leave when Paris stopped her. “Please stay, a while,” he asked.
Katelina felt her heart skip a beat with joy and that was when she realized that she fell for Paris.
Katelina stayed for a few hours talking about whatever came to mind and asking Paris about his life.
“Why don’t you just drink from him then you will see it all because the guy is over a thousand years old,” Torvald snorted.
“What will be the fun of that? I like to hear people tell me their stories, it is more personal,” Katelina said.
“Who invited you to the conversation?” Paris questioned Torvald.
Instead of answering, Toravald kept to himself for the duration of Katelina’s visit, listening. Most of Paris’s story was nothing new to Torvald because he escaped from the icy mountains of Alaska around the time that Paris was born. Until recently, before Michael changed the rules, a human had to stay with a vampire nest for at least 500 years before they had the option to be turned into a vampire, but not when Paris joined. Paris just turned eighteen when he became a vampire and not by choice, either. Even though Paris was forced to become a vampire, it was not something he regretted. Paris loved being a vampire. Until he met Ann, he never wished to be anything else.
Paris was relieved that Katelina had no interest in drinking her blood as he didn’t want her to see that he saw Ann in her and spending time with her made him feel as if he was spending time with Ann.
“Are you ok?” Wynn asked and walked into Ami’s room at the higher council.
Ami was crying into her pillow when she heard Wynn’s voice.
“Hey, hey, hey. What is the matter? Is it so awful that I am your fated mate that you have to cry about it? We can just un-mate. No problem,” Wynn said and placed his hand on her shoulder. “I know you grew up knowing me as an uncle, I guess. I don’t know why I keep on ending up with you young ones,” Wynn explained, confused about it all himself.
“You don’t understand,” Ami sobbed.
“Then explain to me,” Wynn said.
“I want to be mated to you, but you are so quick to cast the idea aside and un-mate. I always dreamt of my fated mate and not in a million years did I even think I will get a fated mate because we are the last royals of our species and the lycan’s basically took all the human royals for themselves,” Ami cried, sitting up.
“I want to be your mate, but what about Eero?” Wynn questioned.
“Eero left without a second thought,” Ami sobbed.
Wynn wrapped his arms around her. “I promise, I will never leave you,” he said and squeezed her tighter against his chest. “Unless you want me to,” Wynn added.
Ami lifted her head to look at Wynn. With his thumbs, he wiped off her tears. Wynn took a moment to look into her eyes and thought how crazy it was that he just fated to Ami. He set his thoughts aside and pressed his lips against hers, kissing her softly.
“So, do you want us to claim each other as forever mates?” Wynn asked after the kiss.
“You want to claim me?” Ami questioned.
“Of course. I am not going to lose another fated mate,” Wynn chuckled, thinking about how Deacon stole Jessica from him.
“Were-owls work a little differently than lycans. As you know, each were-species has its own ways,” Ami reminded him.
“Oh, yeah right. I have to do some sort of courtship for a year and can only claim you after we get married?” Wynn recalled the previous were-owl couples’ journeys.
“But it doesn’t mean we can’t make love,” Ami said and slipped her shirt over her head, exposing her lace-trimmed bra.
Wynn felt his manhood stir at the sight of her cleavage. Before he could get a word out, Ami had her hands around his neck and her lips on his. Wynn found the back of her bra and released her breast from its laced prison, while Ami’s fingers found the hem of his t-shirt and pulled it over his head. As Ami’s hands touched his chest and made her way down his ripped body, Wynn heard her thoughts.
Ami was as shocked as he was. “I am sorry. It just happened.” Ami blushed.
