Chapter 213

“I want to un-mate so that I can mate with Michelle,” Phoebe said, taking Prince Mano’s hands.

“You know that is not naturally possible and the both of you will just re-mate with a man,” Prince Mano explained to her how the whole fated mate thing worked.

“So, you are telling me since we cannot reproduce as man and woman, we can not mate? What about a shaman spell?” Phoebe asked, looking into his eyes hopeful.

‘Tell her no,’ Queen Lana mind linked him, hearing her question.

‘I can hear you, you know,’ Phoebe responded to Queen Lana’s orders.

“So, a shaman can help?” Phoebe asked.

‘I will kill any Shaman that helps you,’ Queen Lana mind linked Prince Mano, warning Phoebe.

Prince Mano noticed Phoebe’s teary eyes and wiped the first teardrop rolling out of her eye before embracing her. The two are unaware that they are being watched.

Michelle was about to walk into the garden when she saw them embracing, so she stepped out of sight before anyone could see her.

Michelle managed to escape Cove because when they arrived back in Canada at the pack, every cabin was burnt down to the ground and no one was in sight. Because they arrived at sunrise Cove was unable to use his vampire speed to get to the territory where the pack kept their children and mothers of the young children, thinking that he will find the pack there. They started to hike in the direction of the second territory and that was when Michelle realized that she had the upper hand during the day if she could outrun Cove. Up until that moment, she has successfully hidden the fact that she was wearing a shaman necklace.  Before she put her plan in motion, she decided to make sure first about the status of the pack.

“Have you tried to mind linking them?” Michelle asked, wondering how it is that he did not already know about the cabins being burnt down.

“I have been outcast and am no longer part of the pack,” Cove informed her.

“So, you think by returning me Alpha Lance will accept you back?” Michelle asked, laughing, putting more distance between them to give herself a better head start.

“It is worth a try. Try and keep up, will you?” Cove demanded as he could hear her voice falling behind.

“Why did they kick you out?” Michelle asked, raising her voice in the hope that he will think her closer.

“What are you up to?” Cove turned around.

“I am tired,” Michelle said, falling to the ground.

“It’s only been two hours. Get up,” Cove compelled her, his skin burning for a moment.

Michelle got up but then fell down again, thinking, ‘Perhaps I can exhaust him first; either he is going to carry me, or he is going to continue trying to compel me.’

“You walked the whole day yesterday and now you want to tell me you can not even do two hours?” Cove asked, standing over her.

“My legs are still tired from yesterday,” Michelle protested.

“Get up, we need to get the second territory,” Cove compelled her again.

Michelle got up and walked a few steps before falling again. “I can’t.”

“Stand up,” Cove compelled her, filled with anger, holding his hand out to her to help her up.

“Get onto my back,” he turned around to piggyback her.

Michelle jumped onto his back but not before noticing his many knives around his belt, one being in reach.

‘Patience Michelle, make him tired first,’ she thought to herself, willing herself not to act hastily.

As she rides on Cove’s back, she goes over her plan in her head, ‘Wait until he starts to breathe heavier and slows down; grab two knives at the same time and slid his throat cross over; shift and run; never look back.’

After what felt like an hour, Michelle finally heard Cove panting, but he was not slowing down his walking speed.

‘Almost time; knives; cross over; shift; never look back,’ she goes over her plan a few more times.

After what seemed like another hour, Cove came to a halt. “We are here.”

‘Crap,’ Michelle thought, jumping off his back, and reaching for two of Cove's knives, but she didn’t realize that they might be secured, so she managed to get only one and sliced at his throat as he turned around. Michelle bites the knife before sprinting away as she shifts.

“Stupid b*tch,” Cove said, shifting into his wolf form, knowing it will help him heal faster.

Cove shifted but only partly as he was too exhausted, “f*ck!”

Cove held a clawed hand to his wound, wondering if being part-shifted will heal him up. Cove stumbled to the nearest tree and fell down thinking, ‘Hopefully Alpha Lance or any of the pack members don’t discover me.’ Cove knew he will have to wait for nighttime so that he could use his Vampire abilities, but he also knew that he cannot afford to fall asleep, not while part shifted as he might get mistaken for an actual werewolf. Lycans use the term Werewolf; a creature that can not control shifting and shifts every full moon against their will and looks like a beast that walks on two legs with clawed hands and feet, they got distinct in the Supernatural war alongside were-ravens. However, Lycans are today's werewolves, and they shift at any time into full-blown wolves.

Michelle ran as fast as she could and wonders what will be better; Egypt or the council, ‘how will I even get to Europe?’ she thought to herself.

Michelle settled ongoing back to the cabins in the hope of finding something to eat and to wear. She ran for two hours straight and was exhausted when she got to the cabins. She first went to the faucet, the same one that was used the first time she arrived, and shifted into her human form before drinking as much water as she needed. She felt her neck to make sure the shaman's necklace was still around her neck and held Cove’s knife in her hand, ready to attack.  Michelle looked around, trying to see which one of the cabins was in the best state. She noticed that there was nothing left of Alpha’s Lance's cabin.

‘I hope there is something to wear in here,’ she thought, walking towards a cabin that appeared only partly burnt down. Michelle could not find any clothing to wear as most of the bedrooms were burnt down and as she carefully made her way out of the cabin, she noticed the curtains, half-burnt. ‘That should be enough to wrap around me like a dress,’ she thought, walking over to it. After taking the curtains off, instead of putting it on, she folded it up and took another piece, and tied it around it so that she could carry it in her mouth. Still naked, she walked around the cabins, looking for anything to eat when her eyes fell on the barn in the distance. It looked untouched by flames, so Michelle walked over to it, and as she neared it something dawned on her, ‘What if the pack is in there?’ Michelle approached with caution, sniffing the air, trying to pick up any scent, but the air was too thick with the scent of smoke. ‘I wonder who did this and will they be back?’ Michelle wondered.

After carefully going around the back, listening for anything, Michelle braved up and approached the large front doors of the barn, knife in hand.

“Thank you, lady luck,” Michelle said when she saw a few motorcycles with a sidecar. Michelle looked around and saw a bunch of keys on a table that was standing next to petrol cans.

‘Can’t be too hard?’ she thought to herself, taking all the keys and walking over to the nearest motorcycle. The second key she tried started the motorcycle, “Awesome.” Michelle got off the motorcycle and made a makeshift dress with the curtain.

Michelle put four one-gallon petrol holders in the sidecar before getting back onto it and starting the motorcycle. It does not take her long to figure it out and off she went, but even before she drove out of the barn the motorcycle died due to poor control on her part, but she tried again. After a few more times stalling the motorcycle to the nearest road, she was off, looking at the sky to see where the sun was coming from to find her North, East, South, and West, guessing it was just after mid-day.

Michelle stayed on the road, not sure if it will lead to the USA border, but was hopeful. She got to the border just before nightfall and decided to turn away from it and ditched the motorcycle. She made her way to nearby woods before taking off her curtain dress and neatly folding it and tying it with Cove’s knife before shifting and picking it up with her mouth before running deeper into the woods, hoping that she was crossing over the border into the USA.
