Chapter 131
“Will you join me for dinner? I promise you don’t have to cook it,” Prince Deacon said, smiling.
“Princess Freda is a lovely option for you, my lord, and she is right in many ways,” Emily started, even though she wanted to throw herself at this handsome lord’s feet and beg him to run away with her.
“What do you mean?” Prince Deacon asked.
“For starters, I am spoken for by lord Eliot and I am damaged goods,” Emily said, her cheeks turning blush.
“Damaged goods?” Prince Deacon asked, wanting to laugh but keeping his serious face so as to not offend her.
“You see, not even a week ago I was sold to be married to a lord from America, but for some reason, he brought me back with no explanation,” Emily explained.
“Lucky me then,” Prince Deacon said with a smile, finding it hard to hold his laughter in.
“What will people think? Surely you don’t want to stain your name with a girl like me. I have no titles and I am not even sure that I am still a virgin,” Emily said.
“How so?” Lord Deacon asked, the laughter he was trying so hard to keep in, half bursting out.
“Well, you see, for some reason, I don’t remember anything from my time away,” Emily explained, fiddling with her fingers.
“What did the lord say when he returned you to your father?” Prince Deacon asked, pretending to not know.
“He assured my father that I am untouched, and I believe it to be true, but with that said, why should anyone else believe it?” Emily asked, her eyes on her hands.
“I believe you and if it was up to me, I would marry you tomorrow,” Prince Deacon blurted out.
“You don’t even know me,” Emily said, her eyes rising to meet his, wondering why he would marry a person that he just met.
“I will have my whole life to get to know you,” Prince Deacon said, touching the bottom of her chin.
“I am flattered, but as I said, I am already spoken for,” Emily said, standing up, hoping he will run after her.
“Did Lord Eliot ask for your hand in marriage?” Prince Deacon asked flatly.
“Not yet but he will, and I intend to say yes,” Emily said with her voice cracking. ‘Princess Freda will never forgive me if I don’t put lord Deacon off,’ Emily thought.
“What does he have that I don’t?” Prince Deacon stood up to stop her.
“You and Princess Freda will make a fine couple. Please consider a courtship with her,” Emily said, walking towards the door, choking on her own words.
“I cannot do that when all I want is you,” Prince Deacon said, wearing his heart on his sleeve.
“But you don’t even know me,” Emily protested again.
“Then allow me to get to know you?” Prince Deacon asked, hoping he will not have to use supernatural options again as he really hoped to woe her in a natural way this time as the first time didn’t go so well for him.
Benjamin looked at Prince Deacon, waiting for him to give the go-ahead to see her out.
“Please come for dinner,” Prince Deacon invited.
“I have plans for the evening, perhaps another time,” Emily said, wishing to say yes.
Prince Deacon picked up on her mind and decided he will make her come to dinner. “Join me for dinner.”
“That will be lovely,” Emily said, wondering why she was agreeing when she just said no.
Prince Deacon smiled and signaled Benjamin to see her out.
“Thank you for the coffee. I have to admit I rather like it,” Emily said before leaving, filled with joy that she knew won't last long if Princess Freda found out that she was having dinner with lord Deacon.
Before Benjamin could close the door, Emily turned around. “I will bring lord Eliot and Princess Freda for dinner.”
‘Hopefully, I can make Lord Deacon consider Freda when he sees me with Eliot,’ Emily thought as she swiftly walked away before she was told otherwise.
“How am I ever going to woe her if she keeps on trying to rub Princess Freda off on me?” Prince Deacon asked, throwing his hands in the air.
“It is only day two, Prince Deacon,” Benjamin reminded him.
“I suppose you are right. Perhaps I can have Wynn compel Freda and Eliot to be madly in love,” Prince Deacon said with an evil smile on his face.
“Is that really such a good idea? Why not let lord Wynn woe the Princess?” Benjamin suggested.
“Because he is her father,” Prince Deacon blurted out.
“Excuse me, Prince? Do I understand you correctly?” Benjamin asked, confused.
“Did you not see how alike they look? Do you think Wynn went over for afternoon tea? He is a hybrid and eighteen years ago he obviously had a thing with Princess Bently,” Prince Deacon explained with a chuckle.
“I see,” Benjamin said, wishing he could be a vampire of some sort.
“Please let Deserey know that we are having guests for dinner,” Prince Deacon said, before walking up the staircase.
Halfway up the staircase, he decided he was actually in need of a run, to shake off his frustrations, so he walked down the stairs getting undressed, and before landing at the end of the staircase, he shifted into his wolf.
Benjamin opened the front door in awe. He has seen lycans shift before, but he could never really get over it and it blows his mind away every time he gets to witness a lycan shift.
Prince Deacon ran out of the house as Wynn came walking in.
“Where are you off to?” Wynn asked.
‘Need to unwind, see you for dinner, or not,’ Prince Deacon mind link him.
“Sir, is it true? Princess Freda is your daughter?” Benjamin asked, unable to put his curiosity aside.
“Who knows?” Wynn said, allowing Benjamin to take his hat.
“What if she turns into a lycan with no one to help her? Or, even worse, bite a human without meaning to?” Benjamin asked, shocked that Wynn would not have thought about this or seemed to care much about the matter.
“Benjamin, I just met her today. She is already of age and surely if she was Supernatural, she would have known by now,” Wynn said, going up the stairs to take a bath.
“Do you need help?” Benjamin called after him.
“I am quite capable,” Wynn said as he started to take off his jacket.
When Prince Deacon returned from his run, he noticed that Emily was standing outside Princess Bently’s mansion, saying goodbye to Eliot.
"Wolf!" Eliot yelled at the sight of Prince Deacon in his giant wolf form.
Thankfully, Wynn was out of the bath and was downstairs sipping on black coffee when he heard the commotion. Wynn stormed outside. "It is ok, calm down. He is harmless! Well, unless he thinks another man is after his master's interests," he joked, looking at Emily.
Emily walked into the street where Prince Deacon was standing in wolf form, curious and excited to see such a giant dog up close.
“Can I touch him? What a magnificent beast. I never thought they grow this large,” Emily said, reaching out and padding Prince Deacon.
“Be careful, it might have rabies or some sort of dreadful disease,” Eliot said, running after her.
“How can this beautiful beast have any disease?” Emily asked, padding Prince Deacon now with both hands.
‘Bet he enjoys that,’ Wynn thought to himself.
“What is his name?” Emily asked, still padding Prince Deacon.
“Puppy,” Wynn said with a grin that made Prince Deacon shrink inside.
“Puppy? Really? Such a huge dog?” Emily asked, not believing that its name could truly be Puppy.
“It is a wolf and really, his name is Puppy. It makes people less scared of him,” Wynn said with a chuckle.
“I guess that makes sense,” Emily said, standing up straight. Eliot took her by her arm to walk her away, but Prince Deacon started to growl at him.
Eliot lets go of her arm in fear that the wolf might attack him.
“Oh my, it appears he does not like you, Eliot,” Emily said, smiling.
“I will take my leave. See you for dinner then. I hope the wolf won’t be around.” Eliot stated before turning on his heel and walking away.
Princess Fey walked out of the Mansion. “Whose wolf is this?”
“How did you know it is a wolf and not a dog?” Emily asked, feeling silly because she didn’t know the difference.
“I saw one before,” Princess Freda said.
“Really? Where?” Emily asked.
“Never mind that. Who does he belong to?” Princess Freda asked.
“To lord Deacon,” Wynn said.
“And where is lord Deacon now?” Princess Freda asked, looking around.
“Resting before dinner,” Wynn said.
“Really? He seems too young to be in need of an afternoon nap,” Princess Freda said, looking down at the wolf.
