Chapter 102

Sylvester sure thought he was something special, always acting all gentle and considerate around women. But last time, he almost fired his secretary for trying to seduce him.

Robert had a bad feeling about this. Maybe Sylvester actually had feelings for Calliope and just hadn't figured it out yet.

"Ever thought that maybe you like Calliope?" Robert took a couple of steps back, just in case Sylvester decided to punch him for saying that.

Sylvester was stunned for a moment, then he grabbed a tennis racket and started chasing Robert. "Sylvester, I'm sorry! I won't say it again, please stop chasing me!" Robert pleaded.

"So what if I like her? What's the big deal? She's my wife, isn't she? What's wrong with me liking her?" Sylvester stood there, his tall figure silhouetted by the sunset, talking to himself. His expression clearly said, "She should be honored that I like her! She shouldn't be arguing with me every day!" Anyone watching would be shocked to see the usually aloof Sylvester acting like this.

Meanwhile, Nina was making turtle soup. She'd heard it could cause a miscarriage. To make Sylvester like her, she needed to get rid of the baby Calliope was carrying. She couldn't do it herself, so she decided to use the soup and then pretend she knew nothing about it.

Once the soup was ready, she brought it to Calliope, smiling sweetly. "Calliope, I know I was mean to you before and often scolded you. That was really immature of me, and I hope you don't mind. I just love Sylvester too much. Now he's with you, and I shouldn't take it out on you."

Her words sounded sincere, but inside, Nina was sneering. As long as Calliope drank the soup, Nina could get back with Sylvester.

Calliope snorted. "Would you really be that nice? I think you have some kind of scheme." Calliope wasn't naive. Growing up in a tough environment, she knew to be cautious.

"Calliope, don't misunderstand. I'm really here to apologize. I won't treat you like that anymore. I know I was wrong," Nina said, tears streaming down her face as she wiped them away, looking pitifully at Calliope.

Calliope frowned, clearly annoyed. Seeing Nina cry like that, anyone who didn't know better would think Calliope was bullying her.

"Alright, alright, stop crying. If you have something to say, just say it. I don't like seeing people cry. Otherwise, someone will run to Sylvester and say I'm bullying you again." Calliope waved her hand, pretending to be indifferent.

She finally understood why Sylvester had liked Nina so much before. Even she, a woman, found it hard to resist Nina's tactics, let alone the domineering Sylvester.

Nina wiped her tears and smiled. "I know I was wrong, so I made this soup to make it up to you. I spent a long time on it. You're pregnant now, and drinking more soup is good for your health."

"What kind of soup is this?" Calliope eyed the bowl suspiciously, catching a whiff of turtle soup. She'd heard rumors that turtle soup could cause a miscarriage, so she wanted to be sure.

Nina's face twitched for a second, but she quickly masked it. "Oh, it's just some fish soup."

"Turtle counts as fish now?" Calliope asked, playing dumb.

Nina stared at her and thought, 'How does she know this is turtle soup? It seems the plan is going to fail.'

Seeing the panic in Nina's eyes, Calliope was certain that it was indeed turtle soup. Just as Nina was about to come up with an excuse, Calliope suddenly said, "Turtle soup, huh? I love turtle. You really went all out."

Calliope didn't want the baby anyway, and Nina had just handed her the perfect excuse. Having someone else to blame wasn't a bad deal.

Nina had no clue she was being played. She smiled as Calliope lifted the bowl to her lips, but then Jenny burst in out of nowhere, knocking the soup to the floor. "Mrs. Moore, you can't drink that! Turtle soup can cause a miscarriage. If you drink it, you'll lose the baby."

Calliope sighed inwardly. Such a perfect opportunity, ruined by Jenny. Outwardly, she feigned surprise. "Really? Why would Nina want to harm my baby? Jenny, you must be mistaken."

Nina's face darkened at Jenny's sudden appearance. If it weren't for her, the plan would have worked. Now, Jenny was right up there with Calliope on her list of people to hate.

"Jenny, don't say things like that. I came to apologize to Calliope, why would I harm her?" Nina's tall frame loomed over Jenny, but her face was twisted with anger.

Calliope pushed Nina aside and shielded Jenny. No matter what, Jenny was trying to help her and had always been kind.

"Nina, why are you getting so aggressive with Jenny? Could it be that what she said is true?" Calliope, though shorter, wasn't backing down.

"What's going on here?" Sylvester had just come back from the tennis court and heard the commotion. Jenny, seeing him as a savior, quickly pointed to the spilled soup. "Mr. Moore, Miss Rodriguez tried to use this turtle soup to make Mrs. Moore miscarry. When she got caught, she started insulting Mrs. Moore."

The smell in the air made it clear to Sylvester that it was indeed turtle soup. Nina immediately started crying. "Sylvester, I didn't know turtle soup could do that. I just wanted to apologize to Calliope. I shouldn't have come, but I didn't expect this to happen."

Sylvester wasn't moved by her tears. Anyone who tried to harm his child would face consequences. But looking at Nina, a flicker of guilt crossed his mind, though his eyes stayed cold. "Whether you knew or not, we owe Jenny this time. Otherwise, you'd be in serious trouble!"
