Chapter 73

Nina's eyes filled with tears, maybe from a nasty cold or some emotional baggage. She suddenly spun around and bolted down the hallway.

Calliope watched Nina storm off, feeling zero guilt. Someone who betrayed Sylvester and got tangled up with Lucas—why should she feel sorry for her? And what right did Nina have to stand there and say those things? It was just plain ridiculous.

Her eyes flicked to the nearby trash can where her test results were hidden, and a faint smile crept onto her lips.

Since she wasn't pregnant, she was heading back to the Moore family to pamper herself! She was in a fantastic mood!

The Winner Group's towering office building stood tall in the bustling city.

After Calliope left, Tom surprisingly hailed a taxi and quietly tailed Sylvester's fancy car. They hit a traffic jam, giving him a chance to get a good look at the black luxury car.

Tom's eyes lit up when he saw the car emblem and asked the driver, "Hey, what kind of car is that? Do you know?"

"That's a Maybach, the top-of-the-line model. There aren't many of those around here. That car's worth millions, probably owned by some rich family's kid," the taxi driver said, making Tom feel pretty pleased.

Tom stared at the Maybach, a greedy smile spreading across his face. "Keep up! The light's green!"

This guy must be loaded, definitely some rich kid. Calliope really hit the jackpot, way better than Rose. Finding a rich boyfriend was way more lucrative than any job. Just the car alone was worth millions; he must be super generous!

"Why do you want me to follow him?" The taxi driver was puzzled. What was this guy up to, asking him to follow someone?

Tom grinned smugly. "That's my future son-in-law! He's chasing after my daughter. How can I not check out his background?"

"Pursuing your daughter?" The taxi driver looked incredulous. Tom was so unattractive; how good-looking could his daughter be? A rich guy chasing his daughter? The world was truly baffling.

The taxi stopped outside the Winner Group's office building, and Tom watched Sylvester get out of the car. The security guard then respectfully guided his car to the parking lot.

As Sylvester entered the company, Tom approached the security guard, thinking that this guy must hold a high position, given how respectful the guard was.

"Hey, what are you looking at? Move along! This isn't a place for you!" The security guard thought Tom looked suspicious, like a thief.

Tom smiled obsequiously and sidled up to the guard. "I'm just looking around. Who was that guy who just went in? Is he an employee here?"

"An employee? He owns the whole company! That's our president! Get lost!" The guard impatiently pushed Tom away.

Tom was completely floored. The president? That guy owned the whole company? Staring at the skyscraper in front of him, he couldn't wrap his head around how rich Sylvester must be. Calliope had snagged such a wealthy boyfriend and kept it all to herself, enjoying the luxury solo!

Thinking about it, Tom tried to go in but was stopped by the guard. "Are you looking for trouble? I told you to get lost!"

"You better be polite to me. My daughter might be your future president's wife, got it?" Tom boasted, wanting everyone to know about Calliope and Sylvester's relationship.

"Are you out of your mind? Your daughter? Our president's wife?" The guard laughed. What bad luck to run into a lunatic today.

No matter how much Tom argued, he couldn't get into the Winner Group's office building. In the end, he could only sit down nearby, cursing under his breath.

"Look down on me? I'll just sit here and wait! He'll come out eventually!"

As night quietly fell, employees of the Winner Group began to leave one by one. Tom craned his neck, waiting for the Maybach, but it was nowhere in sight.

It wasn't until around six in the evening that the black Maybach slowly emerged from the underground parking lot. Tom's eyes lit up, and he quickly stood up, dusting off his clothes, and sprinted towards the car, blocking its path.

Sylvester slammed on the brakes, looking at the person in front of him, a surge of anger rising within him. He pulled the handbrake tightly, angrily pushed open the car door, and got out.

"Are you looking to die?!" Sylvester walked up to Tom, his voice full of menace, ready to strike at any moment. Unexpectedly, Tom grinned and said, "Don't be mad! For Calliope's sake, don't be mad at me!"

Calliope?

Hearing the name "Calliope," Sylvester's anger dissipated instantly. He frowned slightly and asked in confusion, "Calliope?"

"Yes, Calliope! She's my daughter! You know her, right? Do you like her?" Tom's tone was shameless, his pride evident, as if he and Calliope were closely related, though they had no blood relation.

The word "daughter" reignited Sylvester's anger. Where did Calliope meet these kinds of people?

"Calliope is your daughter?" Sylvester's mocking smile showed deep disdain. He would have to educate Calliope properly at home, associating with such people was asking for trouble!

Tom's smile froze. It seemed Sylvester didn't believe him.

"No, I'm not joking. Calliope really is my daughter! I've raised her since she was little. I know everything about her. My daughter is so beautiful; she's had admirers since elementary school. I remember boys giving her candy, fighting over her in middle school, and in high school..." Tom was eager to prove Calliope was his daughter, but Sylvester clearly didn't believe him and thought he was crazy.

Sylvester had lost interest in listening to his nonsense and turned to get back in the car. Just as he opened the door.

"Wait! I know something about Calliope!"
