Chapter 114

Sylvester was fuming inside, thinking, 'Seriously, they're staring at you! Leave me out of this, you moron!'

All he could do was cover his face and act like he didn't know her, silently swearing he'd never go to the zoo with Calliope again.

No matter how hard she tried, the lions just ignored her. Bored, Calliope wandered off with her veggies, asking all the carnivores if they wanted some. She ended up whining that they all ignored her.

Sylvester thought, 'If I were those animals, I'd not only ignore you, but I'd have kicked you out ages ago.'

"I heard sometimes carnivores eat veggies to help with digestion, but they all ignored me," Calliope grumbled, glaring at the carnivores.

Even crazier, she fed peanuts to the bears, who loved them, and gave chocolate to the rabbits, who fought over it.

Sylvester stayed quiet, thinking she was nuts.

But Calliope was pleased with herself, saying confidently, "See, they really like it."

Sylvester just wanted to know when this madness would end.

Then, Calliope went to see the camels and got spat on, which smelled awful.

In revenge, she fed the camels some greens, which they loved and wanted more of. The second time, she handed them a clump of mud. Sylvester was speechless.

They spent six hours at the zoo that afternoon, with Calliope's weird antics never stopping.

That day, Sylvester found Calliope amusing for the first time.

Before they knew it, the day was over. Nina was not happy. What should have been hers was taken by Calliope, and she was fuming.

When they got back, Nina took the chance to talk to Sylvester when Calliope wasn't around, looking upset. "Reporters harassed me again today. They even brought up that stuff on X. No matter how I explained, it didn't help."

Sylvester, who had been in a good mood, lost his smile after hearing Nina's words.

"Got it," he said flatly.

"Where did you go today? You seemed pretty happy. Can you take me next time?" Nina asked, looking down shyly, her cheeks red.

"We just went to the zoo. If you want to go, go by yourself," Sylvester said without looking at Nina and headed upstairs.

Nina stood there, shocked and stunned. Why did Sylvester's attitude change so fast?

Sylvester called Robert to check on the progress of Calliope's investigation.

On the other end, Robert was sorting files. "I've got it figured out. I'll send it to you right away."

The desk was a mess, but he finally found the document. "There's no one named Calliope on the school roster, and I asked a few classmates; they all said they don't remember anyone named Calliope. She's not in the graduation photo either. Should I fax it to you first?"

Sylvester thought for a moment. "Okay."

Seeing the faxed photo, there was indeed no sign of Calliope.

After thinking it over, he decided to call Robert again, "Check again. If there's a mistake, the consequences could be serious."

Robert replied, "Alright, but the chances of a mistake are pretty slim. This should be the real deal."

After Calliope finished her bath, Sylvester handed her the graduation photo Robert had sent over.

"Calliope, do you recognize anyone in this photo?" Sylvester asked casually, trying not to sound too serious and raise her suspicions.

"How would I know these foreigners?" Calliope answered offhandedly, making Sylvester's heart sink. But he still clung to a sliver of hope—maybe they checked the wrong class? He'd wait for Robert's next report.

Sylvester didn't want to believe Calliope would deceive him. He hated betrayal and deception more than anything.

Calliope noticed his odd expression and asked worriedly, "What's wrong? Why do you look so off?"

Sylvester looked embarrassed. "It's nothing," he said, hiding the photo in an inconspicuous spot.

That night, he was restless, while Calliope was still excitedly talking about their day at the zoo. Sylvester occasionally blurted out a phrase in a foreign language, but Calliope seemed unfazed, even asking him what he meant. Was it normal for Calliope not to understand a foreign language while studying abroad?

"Forget it, let's sleep. You look so unhappy. Tell me, what's bothering you?" Calliope asked, puzzled. He was fine earlier, why the sudden change?

"Nothing," Sylvester said, sitting there expressionless.

The more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt. Could what Tom said be true? Was Calliope really just an illegitimate child? Why would she deceive him?

The more he thought, the more conflicted he felt, and his vision gradually blurred, the whole world seemed to spin.

Calliope noticed his increasingly dazed look and called out to him, but no matter how she called, he didn't respond and eventually collapsed heavily into her arms.

"Sylvester, wake up, what's wrong? Don't scare me, okay?" Calliope gently shook Sylvester.

The situation happened so suddenly that she was stunned and didn't know what to do.

Sylvester didn't respond to her calls, but blood started to trickle from his nostrils.

Calliope knew that Sylvester's nosebleed meant something serious. She remembered the last time his nosebleed soaked the bed sheets.

She quickly pressed the emergency button beside her, and John rushed over quickly upon hearing the news.

Calliope managed to move Sylvester outside, and as soon as John arrived, he saw Sylvester covered in blood and asked, "What happened?"

He thought Calliope had messed with his head again.

Calliope shook her head frantically. "I don't know, we were just chatting in bed, and he became like this. I didn't do anything."

John sighed and immediately ordered Sylvester to be taken to the hospital.

Lucas was summoned overnight for surgery. Despite his youth, no one dared to underestimate his medical skills. After five hours of surgery, Lucas finally came out.

As soon as Lucas appeared, the entire Moore family gathered around.

Lucas gestured for everyone to calm down, slowly took off his mask, and said, "He's not in immediate danger. It was a sudden situation, and the surgery was timely. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
