Chapter 149

Lucas shook his head, "Actually, no one can be sure. The timing of Zoey's car accident was indeed very coincidental, just shortly after Sylvester was discharged. But there is no evidence to prove that she was killed by Sylvester. The official statement is accidental death. But if that's the case, then the strange things that have happened at the Moore manor in recent years can't be explained." After saying this, Lucas took a deep breath, the complex relationships left them at a loss.

Calliope found it hard to imagine. It was clear that Sylvester had deep feelings for his mother, but why did he have no hatred for John? After all, Faith died because of him and Zoey.

The so-called accidental death might just be an outward statement. As Lucas said, if that's the case, then the paranormal events that have occurred at the Moore manor in recent years cannot be reasonably explained.

Calliope sighed, looked at Lucas's helpless expression, and suddenly remembered the bloodstain that appeared on the wall. Could it really have nothing to do with Lucas? Why did Lucas apply that chemical on the wall, and then that terrifying writing appeared?

And what about the bloody writing that appeared on Sylvester's bedroom window before? How can all this be explained? The Moore manor is heavily guarded, it's impossible for any suspicious person to sneak in without being noticed.

Calliope looked at Lucas again. Could all these bizarre events be his doing? He moves freely here, making him highly suspicious. But why would he do this?

Living in the Moore manor, an incident would be detrimental to everyone.

After saying goodbye to Lucas, Calliope left the hospital, asked Jenny and Ava to take a cab back to the Moore manor, while she had the driver take her for a drive to clear her mind.

Listening to Lucas's story, her chest felt heavy as if a stone was pressing on it, making it hard to breathe.

The events of the past few days were hard for her to accept. Thinking about Samuel's strange behavior, Lucas's mysterious attitude, and the cruel things she did to Sylvester, her heart was filled with regret.

She didn't expect Sylvester to have experienced such a blow in his youth, watching his mother being shot, with the bullet still lodged in his brain. If she had known all this earlier, she might not have been so cruel to him. How much pain has Sylvester endured all these years? How angry must he have been to kill Zoey?

How did Faith and her son really die? Who pulled the trigger?

Could it really have been Samuel?

Since it was a life for a life, after all these years, this revenge should have ended, but why did she feel that everything was just beginning?

Even Sylvester himself might not have realized the mystery behind all this, maybe he had discovered something too?

Thinking of this, Calliope suddenly recalled the day she returned to the Moore manor, the way Lucas spoke to her in the garden. Could what he said be true, and there was more trouble on the way?

Blood writing, death, what would come next?

Could Lucas and Samuel really be teaming up against the entire Moore family?

The more Calliope thought about it, the more scared she became, not daring to think further. The cold wind made her eyes sore and her head ache. Maybe it was due to her recent lack of sleep, so she instructed the driver to head back to the manor.

All the way, Calliope kept her eyes closed, forcing herself not to think too much, but chaotic images still flashed in her mind, causing a splitting headache.

When she returned to the manor, Sylvester was not home, probably out investigating something, she didn't speculate further.

"Mrs. Calliope Moore, you're finally back, come and eat, we've been waiting for you for a long time." Jenny looked at Calliope with anticipation.

But looking at the table full of food, Calliope had no appetite. Despite everyone busying themselves all evening to prepare this meal, she only ate a few bites, finding it tasteless.

"Mrs. Calliope Moore, you didn't eat much at lunch, and now you're eating so little, how can that be?" Jenny saw Calliope's pale face, guessing she might be affected by the morning's events.

Calliope put down her fork, took a sip of water, but couldn't swallow it, "Take it away, I have no appetite, I don't want to eat."

After saying this, she got up and went back to her room, feeling completely drained.

Jenny looked at Calliope's haggard appearance with a face full of helplessness, feeling both heartache and anger. How could she not replenish some nutrition? She brought over a bowl of chicken soup that had been simmering for a long time, "Mrs. Moore, even if you have no appetite, you have to think about the baby in your belly, he is counting on you to eat." Jenny persuaded earnestly.

Calliope had no choice but to reluctantly drink the bowl of soup, one sip at a time.

Seeing Calliope finally finish the chicken soup, Jenny felt a bit more at ease. Supporting Calliope to slowly get up, she advised while walking upstairs, "Mrs. Calliope Moore, there have been rumors in the manor recently saying that Zoey is back, you should stay at home and not run around, it would be bad if something happened."

Seeing Jenny's nervous expression, Calliope could only smile and say nothing more. She thought, these people are really superstitious, but over the years, such paranormal rumors indeed made people uneasy. But Calliope knew in her heart, how could there be ghosts in the world? Zoey was long dead, how could a dead person come back to life? This must have something to do with Lucas and Samuel.

However, Calliope still couldn't understand why Lucas would help Samuel do such things.

After a simple wash, Calliope lay on the bed. For the past six months, her sleep had not been good. Jenny and Ava thoughtfully prepared hot milk, but tonight she really had no mood to eat anything.
