Chapter 104

"Back then, Calliope wasn't around, and now she's pregnant. I can't do something so messed up," Lucas said, staring at the calm lake and sighing to himself.

"Having a baby is no big deal. I could have a baby for Sylvester too. If it weren't for Calliope, Sylvester would be mine. In this love story, she's the third wheel, and I'm the victim," Nina said, waving her hands in front of Lucas, trying to prove her point.

Lucas shook his head slowly. In this relationship, there was never a third wheel, and now it seemed like Nina was the one who didn't belong.

Lucas kept his eyes on the distance, his gaze filled with complicated emotions. "Actually, when you left, part of it was to push him to get his act together, and another part was because you thought he was unreliable and wanted to find someone else to depend on, right?"

Nina wanted to argue, but Lucas cut her off. "No need to explain. I get it. Your choice was rational, and I believe most women would make the same choice. But you left him when he was at his lowest. What makes you think he should treat you well now that he's doing better?"

That was exactly what Nina had thought back then. Until Calliope showed up, she felt regretful and wanted to come back. She stood there stiffly, her voice cold. "I'll ask you one last time, are you going to help me or not?"

Lucas shook his head firmly. He wouldn't do something so immoral again. Before Nina could react, Lucas had already walked away briskly, probably heading back to the hospital.

Nina shouted after him, "I'm not asking you to do anything, just cooperate with me."

Lucas, who was walking away, still didn't respond, as if he hadn't heard her. But Nina knew he had heard; he just didn't want to acknowledge her. Furious, she clenched her fists. She would show them that she could achieve just as much!

Sylvester paced outside Calliope's room, hesitating whether to go in. Remembering the sweet moments with Calliope, he smiled, then shook his head self-deprecatingly and slowly walked away from her room. Both struggled on their own, and the misunderstanding deepened.

The next day, a new crisis hit. Because Sylvester had shared Calliope's post on X, Calliope attracted a lot of attention.

Suddenly, a photo of Sylvester and Nina appeared on Calliope's X, claiming that the two had reconciled and that she had been abandoned. It declared that Sylvester had officially cheated on her with his ex-girlfriend Nina. The news of "Sylvester cheating" quickly caused an uproar online.

At that moment, Sylvester was being taken to the hospital by Butler for a headache. After a series of tests, he inadvertently saw David's back and remembered Tom's words, deciding to investigate Calliope. He took out his phone and called Robert, "If you have time, help me check on Calliope."

Before he could finish, Robert urgently said, "Have you seen the news? Calliope said on X that you cheated! You're being trashed online again! They say you are a scumbag!"

Sylvester hung up the phone immediately and opened X, almost fainting from anger at Calliope's post. Those were clearly old photos of him and Nina, yet they were being used to say he cheated. He thought Calliope was simply unreasonable. He immediately returned to the estate, ready to confront Calliope.

Unaware of all this, Calliope was startled when Sylvester angrily kicked open her door. She exclaimed, "Are you crazy?"

Already fuming, Sylvester pinned her against the wall. "Am I crazy, or are you? Why did you post old photos of me and Nina online? Even if I did cheat, so what? You're nothing to me!"

Calliope had no idea why Sylvester was acting this way and looked at him mockingly. "What are you talking about? What photos?"

Sylvester tightened his grip, causing Calliope's shoulder to ache. "Calliope, don't tell me you don't know what's happening on X!"

He shoved his phone in Calliope's face. She was stunned when she saw the post. She had never posted anything like that; clearly, someone was framing her. She wondered, 'Who could it be? Playing such a petty trick, the truth will come out eventually.'

She pushed Sylvester away and rubbed her aching shoulder. "It wasn't me. I rarely use X! What makes you think it was me?"

Sylvester sneered and tossed the phone aside. "Calliope, your acting skills are impressive. It's a pity you're not an actress. Did you study drama abroad?"

Calliope found it amusing, thinking, 'Do I really need to explain everything? If I'm innocent, it'll show. It doesn't matter if I'm misunderstood.' She said, "Believe it or not."

Calliope intended to leave, but Sylvester grabbed her, making her instantly furious. She refused to take the blame for something she hadn't done. "I said it wasn't me! Believe it or not, it's up to you!"

Sylvester was momentarily stunned, then smirked. "Still stubborn! What good does doing these pointless things do for you? Do you want everyone to pity you? You're really good at tarnishing my reputation!"

At that moment, Calliope's phone rang, but Sylvester snatched it away. Nina's intermittent sobs could be heard through the receiver. "Calliope, I have no grudge against you. Why are you doing this to me? Do you know what people are saying about me? I haven't wronged you, have I?"

Sylvester sneered, while Calliope felt a discomfort in her lower abdomen, as if there were signs of fetal movement.

Seeing this, Sylvester didn't want to argue anymore and tried to support her, but she pushed him away. Calliope's eyes were filled with hostility. "Don't touch me. Why don't you think my stomach pain is fake? Go ahead and believe others."

Sylvester stood in front of her, his expression serious. "Calliope, stop being unreasonable! This affects not just Nina, but me too! Can you be a bit more rational?"

Calliope squatted down, sneering, "If you believe Nina, go find her! Why waste time on me? I've said it before, if you want a divorce, I won't say a word and will go with you to apply for it!"

Calliope knew she was being spiteful, but Sylvester's attitude made her unbearably angry. From beginning to end, he had never truly believed her!

"You're really unreasonable!" Sylvester snapped and slammed the door, ignoring Calliope's condition. However, halfway down the hall, he instructed Jenny to go check on Calliope. He sped down the highway, just wanting to vent his emotions.

His destination was Faith's grave. He muttered to himself, complaining about how troublesome women were, completely unaware that Nina had quietly followed him.

Nina took the opportunity to get close, reminiscing about the past, "I remember we never fought when we were together."

Sylvester looked at her profile, unchanged from three years ago, and couldn't help but call out, "Nina."

Meanwhile, Calliope, angered to the point of fetal distress, felt the pain in her lower abdomen intensify shortly after Sylvester left.

Jenny saw Calliope curled up in the corner and turned pale. "Mrs. Moore, what's wrong? Don't scare me."
