Chapter 135
Sylvester put down his fork and responded calmly, "I don't have time."
Nina looked aggrieved, her big eyes blinking. "I just hope you can go and take a look, okay?"
She was actually doing this for publicity, trying to make people think they were rekindling their old romance. However, Sylvester was completely uninterested in her performance; he had only one thought left in his mind: resentment.
Sylvester returned to the sofa, sat down, and opened his laptop to start handling company affairs. Recently, all the work had been handed over to him, and he was extremely busy.
After experiencing a failure, he had become stronger.
Nina him intently working and gently urged, "You haven't eaten much. Come and have some food.. It won't taste good if it gets cold."
"I'm not hungry. You go ahead and eat," Sylvester replied without looking up.
"Is it because you don't like these dishes? Should I ask the kitchen to make something else?" Nina was trying to find a way to make Sylvester happier.
Three years ago, she was dominant in their relationship, but after leaving for three years, she now used a nearly humble posture to try to attract Sylvester's attention again.
Hearing Nina's words, Sylvester raised his head, his eyes sharp. "I said I'm not hungry, don't you understand?"
Nina had to close her mouth awkwardly and sit silently on the side.
Halfway through his work, Sylvester felt a headache. The doctor had long warned him not to put too much pressure on his brain, and today he had indeed overdone it. It was time to take a break.
At this moment, Nina brought a bowl of steaming hot soup. "Drink this to warm your stomach."
Sylvester glanced at her, full of impatience, but finally took the bowl and drank it all.
Then he stood by the window, looking at the gradually setting sun, and asked without turning his head, "What time is it?"
Nina looked at her watch and replied, "It's almost three in the afternoon."
"When is your movie premiere?" Sylvester asked.
Hearing this sudden question, Nina was overjoyed. "It starts at eight in the evening."
"Okay, let's go together then. It's not like I have anything better to do," Sylvester said.
Since his surgery, Michael had forbidden him from doing anything too strenuous to aid his recovery.
"Are you really willing to go with me? We have to leave at four o'clock! Thank you, Sylvester!" Nina smiled.
No matter how happy and excited Nina was, Sylvester still stood expressionless by the window.
Walking into Calliope's new apartment, David couldn't help but exclaimed, "Living alone in such a big house, don't you feel lonely? Why not go back home?"
"Actually, it's not that bad. Don't mention going back, that would make me feel even worse," Calliope said.
So David looked around the room. Living alone in such a place in this area was a kind of luxurious enjoyment.
Why was his life so different from Sylvester's? They had the same mother, why did they have such different fates?
In the past six months, Calliope had developed quite good cooking skills, not for herself, but to take good care of the child in her belly.
Because she felt she owed this child too much, and she owed Sylvester too much. Every time she thought about it, she felt so guilty that she couldn't sleep at night and even began to wonder if she had depression.
After tasting her cooking, David praised, "Your cooking skills are really high now! Almost as good as your mom's!"
Mentioning Rose, Calliope found that without those days of arguing, she felt unprecedentedly relaxed. She asked casually, "How are Mom and Dad doing now?"
"How else? The same as always! They've been fighting for decades; how could they suddenly become harmonious?" David said bluntly.
Actually, Calliope knew very well without him saying it: her parents had been fighting for so many years; who knew if they could ever reconcile in the future.
"How have you been lately? Are you still living with them?" Calliope asked.
David shook his head and exaggeratedly made a collapsed expression. "If that were the case, I'd probably go crazy!"
Hearing this, Calliope smiled and expressed her understanding because she would probably feel the same way.
Seeing Calliope's already bulging belly, David asked with concern, "How do you plan to arrange for this child in the future? After all, this is the Moore family's child."
Calliope responded lightly, "Since I promised to keep the child, I have to fulfill that promise. After the child is born, I'll hand it over to the Moore family to raise.."
"You're so young to be a mother; won't it be difficult for you to get married in the future?" David said.
Despite knowing the reality, Calliope still said frankly, "Marriage isn't a priority for me. I have no expectations for it. If I end up with the wrong person again, it would only bring more trouble."
Seeing the topic getting more and more off track, David took the initiative to change it. "Forget it. Let's not talk about this. Just take good care of yourself."
