Chapter 152
"Butler!" Calliope completely ignored Mia and just gave Butler a look.
Seeing Butler kick Peter out again, and Calliope not even glancing at her, Mia, who had been pampered since childhood, couldn't stand it.
"Calliope, I told you to stop meddling in my affairs!" Mia shouted as she suddenly rushed at Calliope and pushed her.
"Ah!" Calliope stumbled and almost missed a step.
"Careful!" Lucas suddenly appeared and caught Calliope, glaring angrily at Mia. "Stop this nonsense! Calliope is Sylvester's wife. How can you be so rude?"
"You say I'm being ridiculous. Are you helping me or this outsider?" Mia gritted her teeth in anger, but her voice lowered. She knew the Moore family cared a lot about the child Calliope was carrying.
Lucas sighed helplessly, "If anything happens to her, you won't get away with it either!"
Mia snorted unwillingly, grabbed Peter, and drove away. She certainly didn't dare to bear the responsibility of harming the child.
Watching them leave, Lucas finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"Thank you, I'm fine." Calliope smiled and steadied herself with Jenny's help. "Why are you here? Luckily, you were."
Lucas was taken aback and quickly made an excuse, "I was just taking a walk and ended up here."
"Can you walk that fast?" Calliope smiled, and Lucas quickly excused himself and left.
"This Mr. Williams, always in such a hurry," Jenny teased with a smile.
Calliope watched Lucas's departing figure, full of suspicion. Why did Lucas always appear so timely? Could it be related to the recent strange events?
That night, Mia didn't come home. After storming out in the afternoon, she hadn't returned, and Calliope didn't pay much attention to it.
In the evening, Calliope followed her usual routine of drinking milk before going to bed. The curtains had been doubled during the day, making it impossible to see outside.
In the darkness, the room felt even quieter, with the thick curtains blocking out the sounds of nature.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Mia didn't return home. Peter took her to the bar, where Mia danced wildly on the dance floor. When John was home, she rarely had the chance to stay out late, let alone not come home at all.
While Mia was dancing, Peter took a packet from his pocket and secretly poured it into Mia's drink.
When Mia returned, possibly thirsty, she picked up the glass and drank it all in one go.
Everything seemed to fall into place, and Peter's smile grew more lecherous as he succeeded.
"So thirsty, another drink please," Mia, unaware she had been drugged, asked for more after finishing two glasses.
Peter took the opportunity to wrap his arm around her waist and whispered in her ear, "Drinking won't help. Your thirst can't be quenched with alcohol or water." With that, Peter supported the slightly drunk Mia and left the bar, heading straight for the hotel across the street.
In her inexperience, Mia was completely unaware of what was happening.
At the Moore manor, in Sylvester's villa.
Calliope tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Once again, she could hear her own heartbeat in the silence.
Was that the sound of footsteps?
Calliope held her breath, tensed up, and listened carefully. There were indeed sounds, footsteps, and they were pacing back and forth.
After last night's shadow, Calliope felt increasingly uneasy. The footsteps grew faster, louder, and faster!
"Ah!"
"Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Moore, what's wrong? What happened?"
Calliope's scream startled Jenny and Ava, who rushed into the room and turned on the light, seeing Calliope curled up in fear.
"Did you have a nightmare again?" Jenny walked to the bedside and patted Calliope's back.
"Did you hear any sounds?" Calliope sat up, leaned against the headboard, and strained her ears.
Jenny and Ava also held their breath and listened.
"Ah!"
"Who's walking?" Jenny exclaimed, and Ava's voice trembled.
They both heard the footsteps, as if someone was climbing the stairs.
Calliope felt even more uneasy. Mia hadn't returned, Butler wasn't around at night, and the only ones left were the three of them. If they were all here, who was making the footsteps?
"Is someone coming upstairs?" Ava whispered.
"Who could it be, so late at night?" Jenny said, wanting to check but too scared to move.
"Don't move!" Calliope pulled Jenny and Ava down, tiptoeing towards the source of the sound.
Finally, at the corner of the floor-to-ceiling curtains, Calliope slowed her steps. She heard the sound coming from there. Pulling back the curtain, she found a voice recorder, from which the footsteps were emanating.
Calliope's face turned serious. "Who came into this room today?"
Jenny and Ava shook their heads. Jenny thought for a moment and said, "Besides the three of us, only Miss Moore was here. Could it be Miss Moore?"
"Yes, after what happened last night, could Miss Moore be trying to scare Mrs. Moore?" Ava followed Jenny's line of thought.
Mia? Did she have the opportunity?
Calliope frowned in thought. After arguing with her this morning, Mia had left directly, and in the afternoon, she hadn't even entered the house before Lucas scolded her away. Moreover, last night when there was a shadow on the curtain, Mia was drunk. Combining the two incidents, Mia had an alibi, so it couldn't be her.
Lucas? Yes, Lucas appeared near the villa today. Could it be Lucas?
But how did he get in without anyone seeing?
SK International Hotel.
In a certain room, Peter looked at the smooth, delicate body of Mia on the bed. How could such a finely crafted beauty be so foolish?
Mia lay naked on the bed, while the scumbag Peter busied himself taking photos and videos with a camera.
When Mia woke up, she thought she was at home and groggily said, "Jenny, bring me a glass of water, I'm thirsty."
Peter watched Mia writhing on the bed, his smile growing more lecherous. He put down the camera, walked to the bed, and helped Mia sit up. Mia's entire naked body was magnified in Peter's eyes. He lecherously reached out to touch Mia's body and softly whispered in her ear, "Mia, I've already satisfied you. How can you still be thirsty?"
Whose voice was that? Mia suddenly sobered up from the alcohol and drugs, hurriedly pushed the person next to her away, and pulled up the blanket to cover herself. "You, why are you here? How did I get here?" Mia stared at Peter, looking at herself, completely naked.
Peter stood up, picked up the camera, and played with it as he spoke, "Why am I here? Don't you remember? You drank too much and insisted on dragging me to the hotel. You even paid for the room downstairs."
"Impossible, you scumbag, get out!" Mia was instantly enraged by Peter's words.
"I can leave, but don't you want to see these first?" Peter said as he took out a stack of photos and threw the camera onto the bed.
Immediately, Mia's eyes were filled with all sorts of indecent images. Trembling, she picked up the photos and looked through them one by one, shaking with anger.
"What do you want?" Mia frowned, glaring at Peter, furious.
