Chapter 168
At this moment, Mia was also certain that Calliope had definitely said something.
"Was it Calliope who told you, right?"
"Don't worry about who told me. I'm telling you, you stay at home these days and don't go anywhere!" Sylvester was furious when he saw Mia's expression.
If he found those bastards, he would make them pay dearly!
Sylvester yelled at Mia so angrily that Mia didn't need to think to know what was going on. Although Sylvester denied it, Mia thought that no one else knew except Calliope.
Calliope, just wait, I will make you regret saying this!
After Sylvester learned the whole story, he immediately called someone to find those punks! On the other hand, Sylvester was particularly puzzled by one thing.
He went downstairs, and before entering the room, he glanced at Calliope's room light, which was already off, presumably she was asleep?
But he was still curious about the supernatural event Mia mentioned. What had Calliope experienced in the past few days when he was not around? What had happened at the Moore manor, and why hadn't anyone told him?
The next morning, Mia rushed downstairs to Calliope's room, ready to confront her, but was stopped by Jenny.
Since last night, Calliope had complained of stomach pain and discomfort, and only felt a little better this morning and was resting.
When Mia was causing a scene, Sylvester, who was about to leave, saw it. Knowing Mia's character, he knew she was there to cause trouble for Calliope. Since Calliope was unwell, he felt guilty, wondering if it was because of last night's incident. So he ordered Mia back to her room and warned her not to go to Calliope's room without his permission.
He knew Mia too well; she never knew when to stop. If Mia caused a scene, who knew what might happen.
Mia had no choice but to reluctantly return to her room, fearing Sylvester.
Sylvester glanced at the closed bedroom door and asked Jenny, "How is she now? Is she feeling better?"
Jenny nodded, "Mrs. Moore is much better. She drank some calming medicine and is now asleep."
"Take good care of her." Sylvester left this instruction and then left. He still felt somewhat guilty. If he hadn't acted last night, Calliope wouldn't have had a stomach ache. It was all because of those punks and the fright Calliope had endured while he was away.
Calliope hadn't told them anything. Was it because she didn't want them to worry? Thinking of this, Sylvester felt a pang of heartache for Calliope. Why didn't she let them know and chose to endure it all silently?
Curious, Sylvester went downstairs and called the butler.
"What happened those days?" Sylvester asked the butler.
The butler, also frightened, recounted everything that had happened during those days to Sylvester.
Sylvester frowned and ordered, "Get all the footage from those days and bring it to me. Also, add another camera outside Mrs. Moore's French window!"
"Yes, Mr. Moore." The butler nodded.
He needed to find out who was causing trouble and couldn't let his wife and children be frightened again.
He wouldn't allow anyone to play tricks at the Moore manor, right under his nose.
After giving these instructions, Sylvester called the hospital to send someone to check on Calliope, then went to the company with peace of mind.
Winner Group.
Monday meeting.
Sylvester sat in the boss's seat, and everyone below kept their heads down, not saying a word. Sylvester stared at David and questioned, "David, it's been a month. Have you found out who falsified the financial report?"
A month ago, Robert noticed some unmarked expenses in the financial report, involving a significant amount of money. They suspected David of embezzlement.
David looked up at Sylvester, at a loss for words.
"Can't you find out?"
"Mr. Moore, we need more time," David replied.
"More time? What is your finance department doing? It's been a month. Do we need to start an audit?" Robert snorted, throwing the report on the table.
"It's been a month, but the finance department has been busy with project funding. This matter wasn't urgent, so we delayed it," David said, searching for an excuse.
"Delayed? I gave you a month, and you say you delayed it? The company's funds are unaccounted for, and that's not a big deal?" Robert questioned again.
Sylvester kept staring at David, making him nervous.
David stammered, "Please give me another week, Mr. Moore. I will give you an answer." David's days at Winner Group were not easy. Although he was nominally the finance director, he was more like a puppet. He had no authority over any company expenses, no matter how small. Even for a few thousand dollars, he needed Robert's signature, which frustrated him. His initial idea of embezzling some money had vanished.
So David reconnected with Lily, suspecting that John and Sylvester had long been suspicious of him and wouldn't let him have any significant role. But David's ambitions were not limited to this. Since they restricted his development, he had to seek other opportunities. However, the time was not yet ripe. When the time came, he would make Sylvester see him in a new light.
Robert and Sylvester understood the situation. Seeing David stammer, they didn't say much, just nodded. They both knew what was going on.
After David left, Robert smiled and sat next to Sylvester, saying, "We found out about those guys from last night. Here's their address." He placed a sticky note in front of Sylvester.
Sylvester smiled, glanced at it, and saw it was a well-known street where punks gathered.
Robert, puzzled by Sylvester's reaction, asked, "What? Are you going to personally seek revenge for your sister?"
Sylvester sneered, "They've already been sent to the police station. Do you think I still need to take action?"
Sylvester was highly efficient. He had already found those people last night and made them turn themselves in.
"Fuck, you already found them, and you still made me look for them." Robert was annoyed. He hadn't slept all night, only to find out Sylvester had beaten him to it.
Sylvester chuckled, clearly not focused on this matter, and threw the note on the ground. He then asked Robert, "David's matter, let's not drag it out. There's no point in holding on to it."
"Why let it go? Weren't you using this to make David leave Winner Group?" Robert was puzzled.
