Chapter 158
Calliope was stunned. Tom had become what he was now, perhaps because of this reason. David didn't know these details yet; in his mind, Tom was still that infatuated good man.
As it got late, Calliope stood up and said, "It's getting late, let's go back."
"I'll take you home," David stood up and suggested.
But she shook her head and refused, "No need to trouble you, I've already called the Moore family's driver to pick me up."
Helpless, David had to leave alone. Calliope stood there for a while watching his back, then picked up her phone to call the driver.
She didn't want to cause too much trouble, after all, she had just heard a bunch of shocking stories and felt particularly heavy-hearted. While waiting for the driver at the intersection, David's voice seemed to still echo in her ears.
While waiting for the car, Calliope inadvertently caught sight of a familiar figure. In the cafe across the street, that person was sitting facing the window. She was instantly scared and squinted to look closely.
It was Samuel!
The moment she saw Samuel, Calliope tensed up. Samuel's appearance always meant trouble. But wait, who was the person opposite him? That back looked so familiar! Calliope thought for a long time but couldn't remember who it was, yet that inexplicable sense of familiarity made her suspicious.
So late at night, Samuel sneakily talking to someone there couldn't be anything good, right? Calliope thought about getting closer to take a look, just as the driver arrived at the intersection: "Mrs. Moore, please get in the car."
Calliope glanced again at the cafe named "Whispering Beans Cafe" before getting into the car. On the way, she kept pondering who that man with his back to her was and why he seemed so familiar.
In the car, Calliope leaned against the leather seat, her mind filled with Samuel's face. Every time she saw him, she was inexplicably attracted, feeling that there were countless connections between them. But in reality, besides his name, she knew nothing about Samuel.
SK International Hotel.
After Calliope left, Sylvester looked at the bracelet scattered on the ground, feeling terrible. He hated her, but every time he thought of her trembling and crying in his arms, he softened. He couldn't bear to hurt her, yet he couldn't help but say hurtful things every time.
The inner conflict and contradiction left Sylvester at a loss. He picked up the bracelet and pieced it together bit by bit. In fact, he had another more beautiful bracelet that he hadn't had a chance to give Calliope. He wasn't clear when he called, so it wasn't unreasonable for her to wear this bracelet over.
Dione had just finished her bath, sprayed on perfume, and walked over to Sylvester in a sexy slip dress: "Sylvester, forget it, if the bracelet is broken, just throw it away. I only want your company." She reached out to take the bracelet.
"I'll bring you a better one next time." Sylvester didn't let her touch the bracelet and turned to put it in his pocket, "Alright, let's go to sleep."
Before Dione could respond, Sylvester patted her hand and interrupted her: "I just remembered I have something to deal with, you go to sleep first."
"Sylvester!" Dione could only stomp her foot in anger, unable to catch up with him.
Sylvester's mind was full of Calliope, worried something might happen to her. As for that bracelet, he didn't care at all.
Back home, Calliope's emotions finally stabilized a bit. As she entered, she saw another car in the rearview mirror, Lucas's car! The car stopped at the door, Lucas got out and walked away, and the driver drove off.
A back, another back. Could that back just now have been Lucas?
She had previously suspected that Lucas and Samuel were connected, but had no evidence. Now seeing Lucas being dropped off at the door, who had sent him back?
"Stop, I'm going to find Lucas," Calliope said anxiously.
"Yes, Mrs. Moore." The driver stopped the car.
Calliope got out and waited for Lucas. As he got closer, she increasingly felt that the back looked like him.
"Calliope, waiting for Sylvester?" Lucas greeted.
"No, the doctor suggested more exercise, so I'm just taking a walk," Calliope lied with a smile.
"Is that so, I'll walk back with you," Lucas pointed ahead.
They walked a bit, and Calliope deliberately walked behind him, confirming that back. The dim light in the cafe had prevented her from seeing the color of the clothes, but it did look like him.
After walking a while longer, Calliope cautiously asked, "Lucas, where did you go just now? Are you in love?" She seemed to be joking but was actually observing his expression.
"No, just talking to a friend, came back late," Lucas shook his head.
"Did you drink? Is that why you didn't drive?" she continued to ask.
"No, just had a cup of coffee," Lucas replied.
Coffee? So that person in the cafe was Lucas?
Thinking about all the strange things that had happened in the Moore manor over the years, could the unseen mastermind be him? Calliope began to feel scared, her body trembling involuntarily.
