Chapter 173

Nina was left utterly confused, not understanding what Mia meant.

After a long time of questioning, Mia finally told Nina the whole story. Of course, she still hid the fact that she had been violated by those people, making up an excuse instead.

"How could Calliope do this? Isn't she just harming you?" Nina deliberately stirred up trouble after hearing the story.

"Exactly, she's using the child in her belly to make Sylvester lose his temper with me. Even my dad is siding with her and slapped me." Mia pouted, feeling aggrieved.

John actually hit her? Nina frowned. She hadn't expected Calliope's status in the Moore family to surpass Mia's. If this continued, wouldn't her chances of marrying Sylvester be slim to none?

"It seems Calliope is now more important in the Moore family than you," Nina murmured.

"Nonsense, it's just because she's pregnant. My dad is worried about hurting her child. Calliope is just a tool for having children in our family. After what she did to Sylvester, how could my dad tolerate her staying here?" Mia snorted coldly.

These words reignited hope in Nina's heart. If that was the case, wouldn't she be marrying into the family to become a stepmother to someone else's child? If Calliope gave birth, she and Sylvester would be forever connected. No, this child couldn't be born.

Nina thought for a moment and then pulled Mia aside, saying, "What if, after Calliope's child is born, your dad and Sylvester can't bear to kick her out? Then you'll be in danger, and Calliope will always oppress you."

Hearing this, Mia became nervous. "No way, if Calliope stays here, I won't have a good life in the future."

"So, Calliope's child can't be kept!" A terrible idea formed in Nina's mind.

"What do you mean?"

"Find a way to make Calliope miscarry. Otherwise, once the child is born, she and the Moore family will be forever entangled!" Nina said firmly. Once Calliope's child was gone, with new and old grudges combined, Calliope would have no reason to stay here.

"No way, if the child is gone, my dad and Sylvester will kill me." Mia immediately opposed the idea after hearing Nina's suggestion. It was too terrifying.

"We'll make the child die quietly, without anyone knowing. How could they blame you?" Nina frowned and asked. Mia was too stubborn.

Seeing Mia still hesitating, Nina continued, "We can bribe a doctor. When Calliope goes for a check-up, the doctor can find an excuse to prescribe some supplements with something to induce labor. When everyone is caught off guard, the doctor can kill the child, saying it was stillborn. That way, no one will know."

"But what if the doctor betrays us?" Mia was still worried.

"The only reason a doctor would betray us is if we didn't pay enough. Once it's done, I have ways to keep the doctor quiet!" Nina said confidently.

She had thought the plan through perfectly. With the doctor taken care of, only she and Mia would know. Then, she could wait to become Sylvester's wife.

After Nina carefully explained her plan to Mia, Mia agreed to follow Nina's lead. They had to bring down Calliope; otherwise, Mia wouldn't have a good life in the Moore family.

Nina was smug. Once everything was settled and Calliope left the Moore manor, she could use all means to bring Sylvester back to her. Then, she would just wait to become Sylvester's wife.

The two of them laid out their plan perfectly, waiting to see the results. Little did they know, someone had overheard their conversation.

Lucas, who had left in the morning, realized he had left his watch upstairs last time and came back to get it. He happened to overhear their conversation by the window. He thought to himself, "Nina is truly vicious. She dumped Sylvester back then, and now she's trying to get him back."

However, he thought it might be a good thing. He didn't want Calliope's child to be born either. When Calliope first returned to the villa, he had advised her as a friend to leave, but she refused.

But after returning to the villa, Lucas thought it over and felt something was wrong. He took out his phone and dialed a number with a frown.

"Hello, I just overheard Nina and Mia plotting to kill Calliope's unborn child," Lucas said seriously once the call connected.

After the person on the other end said something, Lucas nodded repeatedly and replied, "Okay, I understand. I'll stop them."

Although Lucas didn't know why, that person had said Calliope's child must be kept and asked Lucas to prevent it from happening.

The next day, at the hospital.

Lucas had just finished his rounds when he saw Nina coming over with a bag.

Remembering yesterday's events, Lucas smiled and invited Nina into his office.

"What brings you here? Are you here to see me, or are you feeling unwell?" Lucas pretended to be unaware and made small talk with Nina.

Nina smiled, her face full of flattery. "Of course, I'm here to see you, and I also need a favor."

Hearing this, Lucas's eyes shifted. If he guessed correctly, Nina wanted him to be the doctor they talked about yesterday. But he also remembered Nina's plan to deal with the doctor afterward.

He and Nina had been quite close. Even after Nina and Sylvester broke up, their relationship hadn't faded. But now, would Nina target him?

Sure enough, as Lucas had expected, Nina slowly said, "Actually, I need your help with something."

"What is it?" Lucas asked.

"Prescribe me some labor-inducing drugs," Nina said mysteriously.

Lucas pretended to be shocked, staring at Nina in disbelief and concern. "What do you need labor-inducing drugs for? You're not pregnant." He glanced at Nina's belly as he spoke.

"Of course, it's not for me," Nina frowned and glared at Lucas. "A friend of mine needs it. Just don't ask and give me the drugs."
