Chapter 124

It didn't matter if Sylvester and Nina were together. Once this baby was born, Calliope planned to find a place where no one knew her and live in seclusion. She was done with Tom and Rose's endless arguments and didn't want to make any more sacrifices for David.

"Mrs. Moore, please don't say that. Relationships take work! If Nina really becomes Sylvester's wife, she won't let us off easy. We're counting on you," Jenny quickly grabbed Calliope's sleeve, looking desperate.

Who made Calliope offend Nina in the first place? Nina was known to be petty and vengeful.

"I'm sorry. My mind is a mess right now. I just need some time alone," Calliope said weakly, gazing up at the sky.

Jenny gently tugged on her arm, but Calliope didn't budge. "Mrs. Moore, please go back inside and think it over. It's going to rain soon."

Calliope shook her head. For some reason, she suddenly wanted to feel the rain on her skin. This thought made her heart tremble: Could it be that she had fallen in love with Sylvester? She immediately dismissed the idea. No, it must be just resentment.

"Mrs. Moore, I really don't want to get in trouble with Mr. John Moore again. If he finds out you were outside in the cold, I might lose my job," Jenny said, knowing that Calliope had a soft heart. Her words had the desired effect.

Calliope glanced back at Jenny and nodded. "Alright, let's go inside."

Calliope felt incredibly heavy-hearted. Wasn't this the result she had long anticipated? But why was it still so unbearable when she discovered it at this moment?

Back in the living room, Calliope sat on the sofa, staring blankly. Jenny poured her a glass of milk, but she had no interest.

"Mrs. Moore, have you thought of a name for your child?" Jenny asked, trying to lighten the mood.

Calliope shook her head. She and Sylvester had once talked about giving the baby a strong name, but they never made a decision. Now, it seemed there would never be a chance.

Seeing Calliope’s sorrowful expression, Jenny realized she had misspoken and quickly excused herself.

Calliope remained in a daze, her mind a whirlwind of confusion, unsure when she would regain her composure. So what? Was it really such a big deal to see Sylvester lying with another woman?

At this moment, in the bedroom, Sylvester groggily reached out and felt something soft in front of him. His hand instinctively explored the softness.

Nina immediately leaned over and whispered, "You're so annoying."

Hearing this voice, Sylvester, who was about to make another move, suddenly froze. He unhappily pushed Nina away. When he opened his eyes fully, he realized it was Nina!

"How could it be you?" Sylvester's face showed a mix of shock and irritation. Nina was completely exposed. Did they really make love last night?

"Sylvester, you were really wild. I'm still sore," Nina said playfully as she leaned closer.

Sylvester pushed her away and sneered.

Nina's expression shifted slightly but quickly returned to normal. "Sylvester, this isn't the first time we've made love. Last night you were so passionate, I thought you knew. Turns out you didn't. Sylvester, you have feelings for me, don't you?"

Sylvester's mind was in turmoil; he couldn't remember what happened. The only thing he recalled was calling out Calliope's name.

"I warn you, you'd better tell me the truth! If you dare lie to me, you'll bear the consequences!" He clearly didn't believe Nina and had no idea where Calliope had gone.

"Sylvester, I'm telling the truth. You even told me we would go to Simbara to get married next year." Since she had already lied, Nina decided to stick to her story. After all, there were no cameras in the room, so there was no way to verify what happened.

Sylvester stared at her, his voice cold and deliberate. "Get out!"

In fact, he couldn't be sure if he had really been intimate with Nina because he had been unconscious the whole time and had no memory of it. At this moment, he was extremely irritable, feeling the urge to hit something. If Nina didn't leave soon, he might lose control.

"Sylvester, when did you become so unfamiliar to me?" Nina feigned tears. In the past, whenever she cried, Sylvester would immediately comfort her and shower her with gifts. But now, he was clearly irritated by her behavior.

"Besides crying, what else can you do? I told you to leave, didn't you hear me?" Sylvester roared.

Realizing there was no point in staying, Nina dressed and turned to leave. When she reached the living room on the first floor, she put on a smug expression and taunted Calliope, "Calliope, your husband's skills in bed are really impressive."

Hearing this, Calliope almost threw the fruit plate at Nina but managed to control herself. Instead, she smiled and said, "Isn't it a bit late for you to realize that now? Weren't you his ex-girlfriend years ago?"

Ava glanced at Nina with disdain. "You wretched woman, Mr. Sylvester Moore kicked you out as soon as he woke up. You are nothing compared to our Mrs. Moore, so what right do you have to act wild here? You're just a pathetic hanger-on."

Nina's face contorted with anger. "How dare you talk to me like that? You're just a servant, what right do you have to speak to me this way? Be careful, or the Moore family will fire you!"

"It's you who's truly pitiful," Ava retorted. "Mr. Sylvester Moore has already kicked you out, so get lost!"

Nina stormed out of the room in a fit of rage.

Nina walked out of the villa and happened to run into John, who was exercising in the estate. She quickly adjusted her expression and gracefully approached John.

"Good morning, Mr. Moore. I believe it won't be long before I marry Sylvester," she said with a sweet yet slightly smug smile.

John stopped in his tracks, looking at her coldly. "What do you mean?"

Nina feigned shyness and covered her mouth with a laugh. "Your son made love to me. He doesn't like Calliope at all. He was with me even while Calliope was pregnant. Doesn't that prove he loves me?"

John's expression instantly darkened. Having spent so much time with Calliope, he knew her character was impeccable, but wherever Nina went, chaos followed.

"My son will never marry you, so give up now! Our Moore family will never approve!" John glared at her and turned to leave.

Nina watched his back and called out softly, "Mr. Moore, take care. Don't blame Sylvester; we truly love each other."

John felt a surge of anger but managed to compose himself and walked away.

Nina's smile grew even brighter, and she muttered to herself, "Calliope, and all of you in the Moore family, just wait and see. One day, I will become a member of the Moore family."

Feeling depressed, Calliope went for a walk in the garden, but Jenny and Ava followed her.

"Mrs. Moore, please don't be sad. Things might not be as they seem. Remember, Mr. Sylvester Moore was calling your name while he was unconscious," Jenny said, exchanging a knowing look with Ava.

"Yes, yes, I just heard Mr. Sylvester Moore kicking Nina out," Ava added, draping a cloak over Calliope's shoulders.

Calliope looked up at the overcast sky, and sure enough, a cold raindrop fell on her cheek.

As the rain began to pour, Jenny and Ava quickly shielded her and looked for a place to take cover. The raindrops fell into her palms, cold as ice, mirroring her current mood.

"Mrs. Moore, let's go back. You're pregnant now, you can't catch a cold." Jenny tugged at Calliope's hand.

Calliope sighed softly. "Let's go."

John stormed into Sylvester's bedroom, his face contorted with anger. As soon as he entered, he began shouting, "Sylvester, I don't care how you usually treat me, but don't you have any boundaries? Do you know what kind of person Nina is? How can you do this to Calliope?"

"What right do you have to say that? How did you treat my mom back then? If it weren't for you, would my mom have died? Would I have ended up like this? What right do you have to criticize me?" Sylvester retorted, lounging on the bed with a disheveled appearance, irritation clear in his voice.

"You!" John sighed deeply. "Sylvester, I know this matter is unfair to you and your mother. I've regretted it every day since."

"Is your regret useful? Can it bring my mom back? Can it fix my headaches? What's the point of regretting? It's all already happened!" Sylvester's voice was filled with bitterness, devoid of any affection for his father.

"Sylvester, the past is the past. We have to face the present!" John stood in front of Sylvester, his voice laden with pain.
