Chapter 108

"Mrs. Moore, are you hinting at something about Miss Rodriguez?" a reporter asked.

Calliope turned her head away, not wanting to answer. The microphone pressed against her cheek was super annoying.

Luckily, her bodyguards got her to the car just in time and helped her in. As soon as the door shut, she let out a big sigh of relief. Dealing with all those reporters was seriously exhausting.

But then, after the driver closed the door, both the bodyguards and Jenny were left outside. Everyone was stunned, just staring at each other, totally confused.

Jenny, like the bodyguards, started banging on the car window, signaling the driver to open up. But the driver acted like he didn't hear and sped off, the car vanishing in no time.

A reporter nudged the person next to him and whispered, "What's happening?"

The guy adjusted his glasses, looking puzzled. "No clue."

Meanwhile, a newbie female reporter picked up a bracelet from beside a trash can. Not knowing where it came from, she handed it to the cameraman and asked, "Whose bracelet is this? It's really pretty."

Jenny's face went pale when she saw the bracelet. "That pearl bracelet again! Could it be Zoey's revenge?"

Other reporters quickly backed away, not wanting to get involved, but they couldn't help zooming in on the bracelet with their cameras.

The bodyguards quickly called for another car and sped off, with other cars moving out of the way, thinking something big was going down.

Once in the car, Calliope recognized the driver. Wasn't he the guy who gave her the bracelet at the hospital? What was he doing here? Seeing Jenny's worried eyes, a bad feeling crept over her.

Soon, the bodyguards' car caught up, and Calliope felt a flicker of hope, thinking she might still have a chance. But the driver was too good. With a few sharp turns, he lost the pursuers, and Calliope couldn't help but sigh.

She looked curiously at Samuel. "Who are you? You gave me the bracelet last time, right? Why did you give it to me? And why are you taking me now?"

Samuel just smiled in the rearview mirror, saying nothing. Calliope got anxious. "Say something! We don't know each other. Why are you kidnapping me? Let me go. I'm just a pregnant woman; I won't cause you any trouble."

Samuel stayed silent. Calliope started thinking of a way to escape. This guy must be connected to Zoey, who died years ago. Being under his control was certainly a bad thing. Should she call for help? They were in a busy area with lots of traffic; maybe someone would rescue her.

Samuel seemed to read her mind and sneered, "If you try to escape, I'll show you what happens when you're thrown out of a car in a busy area. Not just you, but your unborn child will be in danger."

Hearing this, Calliope went quiet. She couldn't risk her and her baby's lives. If she called for help and no one responded, the consequences would be terrible. By now, the news of Calliope being kidnapped had spread like wildfire.

To Calliope's shock, they ended up at a cemetery. Samuel sneered, "Let's go inside, Mrs. Moore."

In front of her was a dark, creepy path. Calliope had always been terrified of places like this. She shook her head firmly. "No way, I'm not going in there. It's too dark."

Samuel stared her down. "You don't have a choice. Today, you're going in."

Calliope shook her head desperately. "You can't do this. We can talk it out. There's no need to go to such extremes."

Without another word, Samuel hypnotized her and led her inside. The place was overgrown with weeds, but the stone path was clear. This was where the poor were buried, those who couldn't afford fancy plots.

Samuel glanced at the now-quiet Calliope, his eyes fierce yet glistening with moisture. When they reached their destination, he woke Calliope up. She looked around in horror, seeing nothing but tombstones. The photo in front of her was of a delicate woman, not stunningly beautiful but clean and fresh.

She recognized the woman; it was the recently rumored "Zoey." She had no idea why she was brought here. Staring at the name on the tombstone, she couldn't help but marvel at Zoey's cunning. With her ordinary looks, she managed to win John's heart. Her elaborate scheming was obvious.

"Have you seen enough?" Samuel's voice was cold as ice.

Calliope turned around, her eyes meeting Samuel's, momentarily speechless. Every time she faced Samuel, she felt a surreal sense of detachment from reality. She had no idea what methods he used.

"Who are you?" Calliope hesitated to ask, her eyes shifting between Samuel and Zoey. Unfortunately, Samuel was well-disguised, with a baseball cap pulled low and a white mask, making it impossible to see his face.

"This has nothing to do with you. You just need to cooperate and make Sylvester suffer." Samuel's gaze fell on Calliope's swollen belly, a fierce look flashing in his eyes.

After Calliope was taken away, Jenny and the bodyguards quickly reported the incident to John. They didn't dare to hide anything. Even if they didn't say it now, the media would eventually expose everything, and the consequences would be unimaginable.

John jumped up from his chair, his voice full of disbelief. "How is that possible? Didn't I tell you to protect her? Are you all useless? You can't even keep an eye on one person? Call the police now!"

The bodyguards responded timidly. John was anxious and started to panic. He hesitated whether to inform Sylvester, fearing discontent, and finally decided to tell his father first.

When Michael found out, he immediately threw the book on the table at John. "Are all your bodyguards useless? Call Sylvester and tell him to come back and handle this immediately!"

John was stunned for a moment. His relationship with Sylvester was already delicate. Even if he called, Sylvester wouldn't answer; he never did.

Seeing his hesitation, Michael grew even angrier. "What are you waiting for? Call him! That's Sylvester's only child, the Moore family's only heir!"
