Chapter 178

"This time, I'll make sure you remember everything." Samuel just smiled and then instructed the driver to take her away.

Sitting in the car, Calliope could hardly believe it. Did she really just leave after Samuel only had a meal with her?

After Calliope was sent away, Samuel watched the car's silhouette and muttered to himself, "Who told you to have delusions? Controlling you is too easy."

A sinister smile appeared on Samuel's face as he returned to the villa. Lucas was already there, sitting in the spot where Calliope had just been.

"Did you see everything just now? How stupid Calliope is." Samuel snorted and sat on the sofa.

Lucas, however, was indifferent. "You think she's stupid, but she's actually quite meticulous. I'm just curious, why did you save the child in her belly? If that child were gone, the Moore family would have no heir. Wouldn't that be better?"

Lucas was very puzzled. From the moment he received Samuel's call until now, he had been wondering why Samuel wanted to save this child.

Samuel just snorted at Lucas's question. "I have my own plans. Just do your job."

Samuel hadn't made up his mind yet. The child would be kept for now and would definitely be useful in the future. But how exactly to use the child, he would have to see Sylvester's performance.

"So, what's your next step?" Lucas looked up at Samuel, seemingly more and more confused about Samuel's intentions.

"I had a plan, but recently I seem to have received some news. Someone is trying to stop me. Once I figure it out, I'll have someone inform you." Samuel rubbed his chin and looked at Lucas, adding, "In the meantime, be careful with your actions. Don't let the Moore family see any flaws."

"Okay, I understand."

When Lucas left, he frowned and paused for a moment but quickly walked out. What did Samuel mean by that? Could it be that Samuel even suspected him?

Someone was trying to stop him. Lucas thought about the two incidents in Calliope's room. He had been convinced that Samuel wanted to kill the child, so when Sylvester and the others were not home, he created the illusion of a female ghost and placed a recording device in Calliope's room while they were all in the garden. His goal was to cause Calliope to miscarry, but Samuel stopped him.

Today, Samuel even personally went to the hospital to take Calliope away. If it weren't for him, Calliope would probably have believed the doctor's claim of a breech position and would be drinking the medicine Jenny prepared by now.

But why? Samuel's actions puzzled him greatly.

Sitting in the car, Calliope noticed that the driver was not taking the road to the Moore manor and curiously asked, "Where are you taking me?"

"To the original place," the driver replied.

The original place? Calliope frowned. Why were Samuel's drivers as strange as Samuel?

She watched the bustling streets outside as they approached the city center. After driving for a while, the driver stopped at the hospital entrance.

"We've arrived. Please get out of the car."

So the original place referred to the hospital.

Calliope got out of the car, her head feeling heavy and confused. She remembered everything except how she got to the villa, but she remembered everything that happened at Samuel's villa clearly.

She was becoming more and more curious about Samuel.

As she walked into the hospital, Calliope thought that the bodyguards and Jenny should have gone back by now. After all, it was already this late. She checked her watch since her phone wasn't with her. From 11 a.m. to now, it was 6 p.m. She had been missing for nearly seven hours.

Without a phone, she couldn't make a call. She thought for a moment and decided to walk to a place where it would be easier to catch a cab, as it was rush hour.

At the Moore manor, Dione stayed for dinner, and naturally, Sylvester had to take her home. Dione was all smiles, giving off a warm and pleasant feeling.

Although she felt uneasy when she first came in and heard Sylvester's words, Sylvester didn't press Butler for details and accompanied them for dinner, which reassured her.

However, on the way to take her home, Sylvester deliberately took a detour to pass by the hospital. He wanted to see where Calliope had gone. It was just a prenatal check-up, not childbirth, yet she had been gone for so long.

"Sylvester, I think your grandfather and father are very kind to me. Can I visit them often in the future?" Dione asked happily, looking at Sylvester.

But Sylvester didn't really hear her. He only caught the tone and replied perfunctorily, "Sure."

"So, what should I bring next time I visit?" Dione had a hard time making decisions in this regard, so she relied on Sylvester for everything, including the gifts she brought today, which were all Sylvester's suggestions.

"Whatever you bring, they'll like it," Sylvester said impatiently, frowning. He was completely preoccupied with finding Calliope, worried that something might have happened to her, though he never acknowledged his feelings.

Dione, hearing his perfunctory tone, looked at Sylvester and felt he was distracted and impatient. She pouted and looked out the window, suddenly realizing they weren't heading in the direction of her home. She asked curiously, "Sylvester, this doesn't seem to be the way to my house. Do we have other plans?"

Her tone seemed excited, happy to spend even a second more with Sylvester.

Unfortunately, Sylvester only said, "Just taking you for a drive before sending you home."

Sylvester quickly drove to the hospital road, his eyes scanning outside the window, searching for Calliope. Sure enough, at the corner, he saw Calliope standing by the roadside, looking very forlorn.

Seeing Calliope, Sylvester couldn't contain his anger. He stepped on the gas and drove straight to Calliope, not even glancing at her, and coldly said, "Get in the car!"
