Chapter 164
At this moment, inside the private room, Peter made it clear that if they didn't come up with ten million dollars today, then the deal was off.
Calliope saw that the negotiation was going nowhere and decided to leave, but Mia, looking pitiful, held onto her and wouldn't let her go.
Seeing Mia being so willful, Calliope felt helpless. After thinking it over, she decided to take a gamble since she couldn't come up with ten million dollars anyway.
Finally, when no one was paying attention, Calliope quickly stepped forward and stabbed Peter in the thigh, then swiftly grabbed the laptop.
"Damn it, you bitch!" Peter immediately clutched his thigh in pain, his expression turning agonized.
In an instant, Mia's eyes widened as she looked at Calliope, and the men, seeing Calliope's reckless move, collectively rushed towards her.
Calliope held the laptop in one hand and the knife in the other, pointing it at them: "If you're not afraid of dying, then come and take it."
Hearing Calliope's words, the men looked at each other, pushing one another, but no one dared to step forward, fearing that Calliope's knife might injure them.
"Hurry up and get the laptop!" Peter shouted at the men while clutching his bleeding wound, but still, no one moved.
"Boss, maybe we should just let them delete it," someone started to speak softly, while another hesitated but moved forward, unafraid of death.
Calliope, unfamiliar with the laptop, could only delete what they had added online and nervously searched for the original files.
The atmosphere grew extremely tense as both sides faced off. Peter's men wanted to come forward but were afraid of Calliope's knife.
Mia, anxious and excited, jumped up and down urging, "Hurry up and find it, delete it quickly, Calliope."
Mia's urging inside was heard by Sylvester outside.
Hearing his sister's voice and the bodyguards, Sylvester didn't hesitate and kicked open the private room door, rushing in with Robert.
Suddenly, everyone was stunned. The men who had intended to grab the laptop froze, as if in slow motion in a movie.
None of them expected Sylvester to appear.
Although they were gangsters, Sylvester had connections in both the underworld and with the authorities, and he was well-known in the business world. He had been to this bar countless times. If he really wanted to kill them, they would disappear and never see the light of day again.
Sylvester's eyes were fierce as he glanced at Mia and Calliope, then focused on the men.
Seeing Sylvester enter, Calliope took advantage of the chaos to find the original video file and quickly deleted it, even emptying the recycle bin. Only then did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
When Calliope looked up, she met Sylvester's questioning gaze. Sylvester looked at the knife in Calliope's hand—a pregnant woman in a bar holding a knife against a group of men, sparking endless imagination.
The men, seeing the video had been deleted, didn't dare say anything. After all, with Sylvester there, if he found out what they had done to Mia, they would face a terrible fate. They had heard of Sylvester's methods.
"Mr. Moore, my leg, your wife crippled my leg," Peter's fierce demeanor disappeared, replaced by a pitiful look as he gazed at Sylvester, seemingly hoping Sylvester would give him money.
But Sylvester looked disdainful, glancing at Peter and saying, "So what if my wife stabbed you? You're lucky she didn't kill you!"
Dominant and arrogant!
Calliope glanced at the unappealing Peter, thinking, still daring to complain? If Sylvester knew what you did, you'd lose more than just a leg; you'd lose your life.
Sylvester's disdainful expression showed he wasn't concerned with them.
"Speak, what are you doing here?" Robert grabbed Peter's collar, lifting him up with a fierce look.
Peter didn't dare say anything, stammering, "Don't, don't be impulsive, it was just a misunderstanding."
"Get out!"
Sylvester didn't want to hear their excuses; he was more interested in Calliope and Mia's explanation.
After they left, Sylvester stared at Calliope—a pregnant woman holding a fruit knife against a group of men, truly impressive.
"Sylvester, why are you here?" Seeing the photos deleted and the men gone, Mia breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and smiled at Sylvester.
Sylvester sneered, "What's going on?"
"It's just a small misunderstanding," Mia humbly explained, not daring to reveal the real reason.
"Misunderstanding? What kind of misunderstanding involves knives?" Sylvester questioned, clearly not believing it.
"It's really just a misunderstanding, nothing else," Calliope stood up, helping Mia out. Since Sylvester had seen it, they had to find an excuse to cover it up.
Hearing Calliope's words, Sylvester looked at the blood-stained fruit knife on the ground and then at Calliope's swollen belly, coldly saying, "You're really something, daring to stab someone while pregnant. If those men had fought back, do you think you could have beaten them?"
Facing Sylvester's questioning, Calliope didn't explain. She momentarily thought Sylvester was worried about her and the baby's safety, but then realized, given Sylvester's attitude towards her, he was probably only concerned about the baby.
Mia, seeing the situation, knew it was her fault. If Sylvester found out, she wouldn't have a good outcome either. She couldn't let Sylvester keep questioning, so she stepped forward to explain for Calliope, "Sylvester, I was harassed by those men at this bar before, so I asked Calliope to help me."
"Ridiculous! You could have asked anyone, but you asked a pregnant woman to help you out? Are you out of your mind?" Sylvester was furious, wanting to crack Mia's head open to see if there was something wrong inside, or maybe test her genes to see if she was really the Moore family's biological daughter, given her low intelligence!
"Sylvester, I'm sorry, I won't do it again," Mia apologized, acting coquettishly.
At that moment, a man suddenly entered the private room, smiling obsequiously. Seeing Sylvester, he quickly clasped his hands together and said, "Mr. Moore, I apologize for the trouble caused to Mrs. Moore and Miss Moore in my establishment. Rest assured, I will compensate you."
The man was the bar manager, showing utmost respect to Sylvester.
"You knew they were Mr. Moore's family, yet you came so late?" Robert glared at the manager, questioning fiercely.
