Chapter 176

"Do you think Calliope might have found out something? Or did someone overhear our conversation that day?" Nina started to get paranoid, clutching Mia's arm, becoming even more anxious.

"Impossible. My room is so far from Calliope's room, there's no way they could have heard us." Mia waved her hand dismissively, though she was also feeling uneasy.

If Calliope really found out, she would be doomed.

"But then, why do you think Calliope suddenly left the hospital?" Nina continued to press, relentless in her questioning.

Mia frowned, "Maybe she had something urgent to attend to. It's not unusual."

At that moment, they heard some noise downstairs. Mia glanced down and saw Sylvester's car, thinking perhaps Sylvester had brought Calliope back.

Mia became even more nervous, grabbing Nina's hand and anxiously asking what to do. They couldn't let Sylvester find out, or he would make her pay dearly.

Nina was already very tense, and seeing Mia like this, she suddenly got angry, shaking off Mia's hand and snapping, "Don't panic yet. We don't even know where Calliope went. How can you be sure Sylvester knows?"

After a brief discussion, they decided to go downstairs.

When they got downstairs, they saw that the woman standing next to Sylvester was not Calliope, but another woman who looked well-educated and beautiful.

Mia recognized her as Dione. They didn't know whether to be happy or angry. They hadn't even dealt with Calliope yet, and now there was another Dione.

Nina, who knew nothing about Dione, asked, "Who is that woman? A relative of yours?"

"What relative? This woman is quite formidable." Mia pulled Nina aside and said, "Dione looks like a high-society lady. She has a powerful background. Her uncle is in the military, her great-grandfather was a general who fought in wars, her grandfather was a civilian general, and her father is about to become the mayor of this city. Her family is mostly in politics, and our Moore family is very close to the Saunders family. My father and grandfather want her to marry Sylvester to help our family. But I don't like Dione; she seems too arrogant."

Nina frowned. These relationships were so complicated. If she compared herself to Dione, she would lose without a doubt. She didn't have Dione's family background or beauty. Any man would choose Dione over her.

Seeing Nina's anxiety, Mia whispered in her ear, "Don't worry. Business and love are separate. Sylvester might just be using the Saunders family's political influence. I've seen this happen many times. You don't need to be nervous."

Mia's reassurance calmed Nina down a bit. The Moore family also had many relatives in politics and the military, thriving in the political arena. It was common for the political and business worlds to help and use each other. Thinking from this perspective, Nina realized there was no need to worry.

However, seeing Sylvester and Dione chatting and laughing downstairs, Nina still felt very angry. No matter what, she had to find a way to get Dione away from Sylvester.

In the Moore manor's living room.

Sylvester and Dione were chatting when Michael and John appeared. Seeing Dione's graceful demeanor, they both nodded in satisfaction.

Dione quickly stood up when she saw Michael, "Hello, Michael. Hello, John."

"Good, good. Please, have a seat." Michael warmly invited her.

Dione's polite and respectful manner pleased both John and Michael.

Dione smiled and asked with concern, "Michael, how have you been? I just returned from abroad and have been busy with family matters. I only now have time to visit you and John. Please don't blame me."

"How could we? We're just happy you came to see us." John responded warmly.

It was clear that both John and Michael were very satisfied with Dione.

Michael noticed the items on the table and pretended to be a bit upset, "I've told you before, when you come to our house, don't bring anything. Treat it like your own home. You're always so polite."

"Michael, bringing gifts is my way of showing respect. Any granddaughter would bring something to honor her grandfather when visiting." Dione smiled, full of respect.

"How's your father? Is he well?" John asked with concern.

"My father is doing well. He mentioned recently that he wants to invite you all out for a meal when he has time." Dione replied with a smile.

"Your father is always so polite. If he wants to see us, he can just come over or give us a call. There's no need to set a special time. It's too formal." Michael said, seemingly displeased.

Dione continued to smile, "You're right, Michael. I'll tell my father to visit you personally when I get home."

Seeing Dione's graceful and elegant demeanor, both Michael and John were even more in favor of the marriage alliance between the Saunders and Moore families.

After all, the Saunders family was very powerful, and they were well-matched with the Moore family. Initially, John and Michael thought Calliope and Sylvester were a good match, but after what happened, they believed a gentle, well-mannered woman like Dione would be a better match for Sylvester.

Dione's recent behavior had pleased them greatly, so they often created opportunities for her and Sylvester to be together.

They didn't expect Sylvester to bring Dione to visit, which made them think the marriage might actually happen.

John smiled, and Michael understood immediately.

"Dione, don't leave tonight. Stay for dinner." Michael warmly invited and called the butler.

At that moment, Sylvester suddenly thought of Calliope. His relationship with Dione was just a temporary arrangement for a project. But if Dione stayed for dinner, it would be awkward for Calliope.

While Michael was instructing the butler to prepare dinner, Sylvester's mind was elsewhere.

"Butler, has Mrs. Moore not returned yet?" Sylvester asked, frowning.
