Chapter 159

"What's wrong? Are you cold?"

Just as Calliope was feeling scared, Lucas's voice suddenly sounded in her ear, startling her.

"Ah!" Calliope screamed.

"Calliope, are you okay? Is it because of what happened last time that you still haven't recovered?" Lucas looked at Calliope's reaction, frowned, and seemed a bit guilty.

"No, it's just that the baby in my belly just kicked me." Calliope explained with a smile. Now was not the time to tell the truth.

If it wasn't Lucas who did it, saying it would wrong an innocent person; but if it was him, she had no evidence, and saying it rashly would only alert him.

"It's normal for the baby to move at this time, your reaction is too exaggerated." Lucas laughed and didn't take it to heart.

In the Sylvester villa, Jenny and Ava were waiting in the living room to welcome them back and congratulate Calliope.

After saying goodbye to Lucas, Calliope walked straight in. As soon as she entered, Jenny and Ava excitedly greeted her. "Mrs. Moore, how was it? Did Mr. Moore take you to a candlelight dinner?" Ava asked eagerly.

"Yes, yes, that bracelet must be the proof!" Jenny chimed in.

Both of them were smiling, looking even happier than Calliope.

But soon, Jenny's smile disappeared, and she ran to the door to look, "Why did Mrs. Moore come back alone? Where is Mr. Moore?"

That Sylvester, probably off making love with some other woman again.

"The bracelet was for me to pass on to someone else, don't overthink it." Calliope said expressionlessly.

"Giving it to another woman? But weren't you wearing the bracelet?" Ava continued to ask.

Calliope just smiled faintly and didn't explain further.

Who would have thought, just as she sat down to drink water and rest for a while, she saw Sylvester walk in.

Seeing him, Calliope smiled sarcastically, "Mr. Moore, shouldn't you be spending the night with Miss Saunders? How do you have time to come home?"

"I came back to see if my house has been emptied by a money-grubbing woman like you!" Sylvester said angrily. He had come back out of concern for Calliope's safety, only to be met with sarcasm.

"If I were really greedy, would I still be foolishly waiting until today?" Calliope retorted without backing down.

"Who knows what you're thinking? You actually thought I would give you such an expensive bracelet, I'd love to know how you imagined that." Sylvester sneered and walked straight to the sofa to sit down.

Bringing up this matter made Calliope a bit angry: "It's just a bracelet, do you think I care?"

"If you don't care, why wear it? Or do you think my attitude towards you has changed? Calliope." Sylvester looked at her mockingly.

These words made Calliope feel very ashamed. She had indeed had such hopes, but being exposed like this made her feel as if she were standing naked in front of everyone, very embarrassed.

Seeing the tension between them growing, she didn't want to say anything more and planned to leave. "You can go."

"Wait."

Just as Calliope was about to turn around, Sylvester grabbed her wrist and stared at her bare fingers, asking, "Where's my ring?"

So he was referring to the ring. Calliope's face showed a flash of panic, then quickly returned to calm, "I took it off after my bath last night, it's in the bedroom."

Her forced calmness did not escape Sylvester's eyes. At this moment, someone entered from outside, breaking the tense atmosphere.

Just then, Mia came home, and seeing Sylvester holding Calliope's hand, she immediately interrupted, "Calliope, last night when I passed by your room, I saw your big diamond ring shining brightly."

Hearing this, Sylvester's expression softened a bit, and the nervous Calliope also secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Feeling the grip on her hand loosen, she spoke, "Can you let go now?"

Sylvester snorted coldly and released Calliope's arm. Without another word, she went straight upstairs.

Seeing this, Mia hurriedly followed Calliope, "Calliope, I'll go up with you."

Mia going upstairs with Calliope? When did Mia get so close to Calliope? They were only out for a few days, and now they seemed so close? What did Calliope do?

Sylvester watched their backs with some curiosity but didn't think much of it.

Upstairs, out of Sylvester's sight, Mia warned Calliope, "I'm telling you, no matter what, they can't find out about this."

"Then what about my ring? If Sylvester asks again tomorrow, what should I say?" Calliope deliberately made things difficult for Mia. This family, always like this, she had had enough.

"I don't care what you say, you already promised me, and my sports car has been transferred to your name. If you say anything now, you'll lose everything." Mia threatened with the sports car.

"Losing the car is just a matter of a few hundred thousand dollars, but if your reputation is ruined, money can't buy it back, right?" Calliope sneered, Mia's attitude really changed quickly.

Hearing Calliope say this, Mia immediately became passive, her voice softened, "Alright, Calliope, I was wrong, okay? I'll find a way to get you an identical ring so Sylvester won't find out, okay?"

"That's more like it." Calliope smiled.

Mia was still a young girl, unable to withstand threats. After just a few words, Mia had already offered to solve the ring problem.
