Chapter 170
As soon as Sylvester shouted, Nina's arrogance immediately diminished, and her tone softened. She took two steps forward, walked up to Sylvester, and said softly, "I'm sorry, Sylvester, I didn't mean it. I was just anxious. You left me alone at the bar yesterday. You don't know how heartbroken I was."
"It has nothing to do with me if you're heartbroken!" Sylvester was unmoved.
After being yelled at, Nina's eyes immediately filled with tears. When had Sylvester ever spoken to her like this? When they were together before, Sylvester always coaxed her with kind words. When had she ever been so humble and pleasing? But now, it was all because of Calliope. Ever since that bitch Calliope appeared, Sylvester had never shown her a good face.
"It's because of Calliope, isn't it? You've fallen in love with her, haven't you?" Nina calmed her emotions and looked at Sylvester sadly.
"It has nothing to do with you!" Sylvester felt conflicted when Nina asked him. Had he fallen in love with Calliope? Why did he get so nervous and worried when he knew Calliope was scared by those supernatural events? Was his anger at Calliope last night because he was worried about her? No, he hated Calliope, hated her for what she did to him back then!
"It has nothing to do with me, but don't lie to yourself. You keep saying you want to take revenge on her, to make Calliope suffer ten times, a hundred times the pain she caused you. But that's not what you really think. Everything you do is for Calliope's good. You protect her in every way. Stop deceiving yourself!" Nina sneered, enduring the heartache, and spoke Sylvester's true feelings.
During this time, knowing Sylvester wasn't dead and that Calliope had returned to the Moore manor, no one knew how Nina got through it. She hated every day, hated that Calliope wasn't dead, that she could still live peacefully in the Moore manor, and that she was pregnant with Sylvester's child. All of that should have been hers, Nina's.
"Get out! Get out of my sight, and don't let me see you again!"
Nina's words completely enraged Sylvester, making him feel as if she had seen through his heart, and he was furious out of shame.
After being yelled at by Sylvester, Nina wiped her tears, sneered, and walked out of Sylvester's office. She would never let go. She had to make Sylvester change his mind and fall in love with her again. She wouldn't let Calliope go either. She would take back everything Calliope had taken from her and make Calliope suffer!
The Moore manor, inside the villa.
Calliope had stayed in her room all morning without coming out. When it was time to eat, Jenny brought the food to her room.
"Where is Miss Moore?" Calliope asked Jenny with a smile as she sat on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Jenny smiled and said, "Miss Moore is probably upstairs. Mr. Moore said she shouldn't come out and warned her not to disturb your rest."
"She really can't sit still." Calliope said as she took a pillow and placed it behind her waist.
"Mrs. Moore, you're so smart. Otherwise, who knows what trouble Miss Moore would have caused this morning." Ava poured a glass of milk, placed it on the table next to Calliope, and carefully massaged her shoulders.
Calliope had guessed it last night. With Sylvester's temperament, after she said those things to him, he would definitely go find Mia immediately. Sure enough, Mia came to confront her early this morning. It was obvious.
To avoid a confrontation, Calliope pretended to be sick in the morning and had Jenny tell the butler that she wasn't feeling well and didn't need to make breakfast.
Fortunately, Sylvester believed it and ordered Mia not to go near her room, which gave Calliope a shield.
She really didn't want to have a direct confrontation with Mia; it was too exhausting.
"Mrs. Moore, Mr. Moore arranged for a doctor to come and check on you. The doctor should be here soon. What if the doctor finds nothing wrong?" Jenny asked worriedly.
"Let's just buy some time. She can't come to my room. I think in public, in front of her grandfather and father, she wouldn't dare to do anything to me. Otherwise, everything would be exposed." Calliope sighed.
"That's true, but I'm still curious. Why does Miss Moore hate you so much?" Ava asked, voicing her curiosity from last night but not daring to ask until now.
Hearing Ava's question, Calliope didn't respond, just smiled. Sometimes, it's better to avoid trouble.
When the doctor arrived at the villa, Calliope was sleeping. After waiting for a while, Calliope finally woke up.
In the bedroom, Jenny quietly told her the doctor had arrived. Calliope smiled and asked Jenny to invite the doctor in.
The doctor saw that Calliope looked well and only performed some simple checks.
"Doctor, is the baby in my belly okay?" Calliope asked, pretending to be concerned.
"Mrs. Moore, the baby is fine. The fetal movements should be normal, nothing to worry about," the doctor said, putting away the stethoscope.
Calliope frowned and asked, "Then why does it feel different from before? And it lasts a long time." She furrowed her brow, pretending to be puzzled.
The doctor frowned and asked, "Mrs. Moore, have you been upset or angry recently?"
Hearing this, Calliope secretly smiled. This should be told to Sylvester, so he would feel a bit guilty.
"I have been upset. Could that be causing the abnormal fetal movements?" Calliope asked, feigning ignorance.
During this time, she seemed to hear Sylvester talking to the butler outside and deliberately raised her voice.
"That wouldn't be surprising. Mrs. Moore, you're over eight months pregnant now. The baby will be born soon, so you must be very careful. If the baby is born prematurely, it won't be good for either of you," the doctor said, frowning and giving careful instructions.
"You mean if I get upset, the baby in my belly could be in danger?" Calliope asked loudly on purpose.
She wanted Sylvester to hear it, but did he?
After chatting with the doctor about some precautions, she had Jenny see the doctor out.
She didn't believe it. Sylvester would definitely be very careful with her in the future. Otherwise, the baby would be in danger. This was her way of protecting herself.
In Sylvester's office, hearing Calliope's words just now, he frowned and a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
The butler standing nearby was puzzled and asked, "Mr. Moore, did you see something in the video?"
