Chapter 80

Nina watched his shocked face and thought, 'Does he seriously not know Calliope's pregnant? Whether he knows or not, I gotta spill the beans today, or I'll never get another shot!'

"Sylvester! I've been keeping a secret for way too long! You need to know!"

If she didn't speak up now, once Calliope had the baby, she and Sylvester would be done for good.

But right then, Sylvester's mind was somewhere else, totally fixated on the news about Calliope being pregnant. He suddenly walked over to his desk and grabbed his phone.

Ignoring the flood of notifications, he dialed Calliope's number. The ringtone went on forever with no answer.

Sylvester frowned, looking pretty annoyed, grabbed his coat, and stormed out of the office.

"Sylvester, where are you going? Come back!" Nina was left standing there, feeling totally defeated. She'd finally gotten a chance to talk to Sylvester, but now she could only watch him walk away.

"Sylvester, how can you do this to me? Everything I've done was for you, and now I'm just humiliated? This isn't fair!" Feeling crushed, she collapsed to the floor, tears hitting the cold tiles.

Meanwhile, Calliope had hailed a cab, but after just ten minutes, they hit a traffic jam that lasted nearly half an hour.

Calliope was getting impatient, thinking at this rate, it would be nightfall before she reached the Moore manor. She pulled out her phone to check the time, only to find it had accidentally turned off.

Restarting it, the first thing she saw was a flood of notifications on X, numbering in the tens of thousands!

Her X was usually pretty quiet, mostly a personal space for her own amusement. How could there suddenly be tens of thousands of messages?

Curious, Calliope opened X and was instantly floored.

All these comments were talking about her as Sylvester's wife!

She found that someone had shared her photo. Clicking on the sharer's ID, it turned out to be Sylvester!

Calliope was stunned. What was Sylvester trying to do? He publicly acknowledged her as his wife and even shared her selfie!

What was going on in Sylvester's head? Was this still a secret marriage? The whole world knew now!

Furious, she faced the flood of comments and shares, some envious, some jealous, some sympathetic, and even some praying for her!

"Sylvester! You maniac, what are you trying to pull?" She quickly skimmed through the chaotic comments, muttering curses under her breath.

Just then, her phone rang. It was Sylvester. Perfect timing—she needed someone to unleash her fury on, and here he was, served up on a silver platter.

Calliope answered the call, bringing the phone to her ear. "Sylvester, are you out of your mind? Why did you do this? Do you even realize the mess you've made? And how did you find my X?"

Her anger was almost tangible through the phone, but Sylvester's voice came through, smooth and amused. "We've kissed, hugged, touched, and slept together. What haven't I seen?"

Calliope was left speechless, the car falling into an awkward silence. Even the driver up front couldn't help but chuckle.

"Forget it! I'm stuck in traffic. We'll talk when I get home!" With that, she decisively hung up. Seeing the chaotic comments, she smirked coldly and deleted the photo. Not only that, she wiped all her posts!

There were only a dozen or so since she never liked posting on X, so it was quick to clean up.

After another half hour of traffic, the road finally cleared, and the cab headed straight for the upscale area. The driver, seeing the luxurious surroundings for the first time, figured the woman in the back must be some wealthy housewife.

Calliope got out of the car, still needing to walk a bit to reach the Moore family's lavish estate, whose address was kept secret, requiring her to go on foot.

Usually healthy, she'd been feeling off these past few days, nauseated by greasy smells, and even a short walk left her breathless, with sweat beading on her forehead.

"Has the cushy life at the Moore family made me soft?" Calliope mocked herself, feeling so exhausted she could barely move, and had to rest against a tree.

After a brief rest, she set off again. What was usually a half-hour walk felt like hours today.

Sweat trickled down Calliope's forehead. Seeing the manor gates ahead, she felt a sense of accomplishment. Just as she pressed the doorbell, the world went dark, and she collapsed.

The gate slowly opened, and a cry of alarm followed. "Mrs. Moore! What's wrong? Wake up! Help! Mrs. Moore has fainted!"

Calliope lay on the ground, the security guard's shouts faintly reaching her, but she felt an unprecedented sense of relief, the extreme fatigue making her oblivious to what happened next.
