Chapter 142

Now Calliope is like a baby-making machine; once the child is born, it has nothing to do with her, just like Butler said, after giving birth, it's as if she and the child don't exist to each other.

Calliope, oh Calliope, the first half of your life is truly a tragedy.

That night, Calliope finally had a peaceful sleep. Perhaps she was too exhausted from the day's turmoil, she slept deeply and didn't hear any noise from Sylvester's room, nor did she know that the young model had been sent away.

The next morning, after having breakfast, Calliope thought Sylvester would take her to the hospital, but Jenny said Sylvester had gone to a meeting at the company early in the morning. Well, she didn't really want to go anyway, and she especially didn't want to go out with Sylvester. Every time she saw him, she felt suffocated and uncomfortable all over.

Bored, Calliope asked Jenny and Ava to accompany her for a walk in the back garden. Getting more sun is good for both her and the baby.

"Mrs. Moore, I think Mr. Sylvester Moore and Mr. John Moore do care about you. They waited at the door for a long time last night," Ava said excitedly as she helped Calliope sit down.

"Care? They only care about the baby. After what I've done, do you think they would care about me?" Calliope smiled, looking at the garden scenery. Soon, she wouldn't be able to see such a view anymore. If only things were as simple as Ava thought.

However, Calliope still wanted to find a chance to explain things to Sylvester. But how could she prove that the person in the video wasn't her? She needed to think of a good way.

The more she explained, the more complicated things would get.

It was Friday, and Lucas didn't have any appointments, so he thought of going out for a walk and getting some fresh air. Unexpectedly, he ran into Calliope there.

He had heard about what happened last night, but he didn't expect Calliope to look so calm. After hesitating for a moment, Lucas walked over to Calliope.

"Hi, Calliope."

Calliope? Such a familiar voice. Calliope turned around and saw Lucas's charming smile. She stood up and responded with a smile, "Hi, Lucas. How come you have time today?"

"Today is my day off. I heard you came back to stay, didn't expect to see you here." Lucas sat opposite Calliope and continued to ask, "How's the baby?"

Calliope was a bit surprised by Lucas's concern, as his attitude hadn't been good before.

"The baby is fine, just two more months until the birth." Calliope adjusted her mood and answered with a smile.

"Are you really going to have this baby?" Lucas frowned.

"Why? Don't you want the baby to be born safely? Sylvester and John have been looking forward to it for a long time." Calliope touched her belly, feeling a bit sad. This baby would leave her as soon as it was born.

"You know, once the baby is born, you won't see him again."

"I know, but it's still a little life. Even if I can't see him, I want him to grow up healthy." Calliope smiled, stroking her belly, her face full of happiness.

She was really looking forward to this new life, as it had accompanied her through the toughest times.

Lucas sighed. He had wanted to persuade Calliope to leave, but now that she had made up her mind, he couldn't say anything more.

"If you have something to say, just say it. You seem to have something on your mind." Calliope noticed Lucas's hesitation and felt curious.

"Leave here as soon as you have the baby." Lucas took a deep breath, his expression mysterious. "Consider it a friend's advice." He thought he had made it clear enough, and someone as smart as Calliope should understand his meaning.

A friend's advice? Calliope watched Lucas's departing figure, feeling increasingly puzzled. Why would Lucas say such a thing?

Although she couldn't figure it out, Lucas's words did raise doubts in Calliope's mind.

Lucas walked out of the garden and took out his phone to make a call. "I've said everything. Whatever you plan to do next, it's best to wait until the baby is born."

"Well said. I'll consider the next step." The other party replied and then hung up.

Lucas looked at his phone and frowned. Before leaving, he glanced at Calliope again, sincerely hoping she would remember his kind reminder.

Weekend.

Sylvester didn't go to the company and originally planned to take Calliope to the hospital for a check-up, but Calliope said she was fine and didn't need to go. The two of them sat at home, staring at each other in boredom.

Around noon, Nina suddenly arrived. She was wearing a glamorous dress and had exquisite makeup. As soon as she walked in, she saw Calliope sitting next to Sylvester, and her smile instantly froze.

"What are you doing here?" Nina glared at Calliope, her tone displeased and a bit disdainful.

"Why can't I be here? This is my home." Calliope put down the parenting book in her hand, deliberately showing the cover, and turned to Jenny, "Jenny, make a cup of coffee for Miss Rodriguez."

The parenting book on the table made Nina's mood even worse. "No thanks, I don't drink coffee. It's bad for the body." Nina said, deliberately sitting close to Sylvester.

"Indeed, especially for models like you. With such strict diet control, plus working out and staying up late, you really need to take care of your body." Calliope said while stroking her belly, "Staying up late is really harmful."
