Chapter 180

But Calliope remained polite, "Thank you for your concern."

Seeing her calm demeanor, Dione continued, "You don't have to be so polite with me. After you get divorced, you will still be Sylvester's ex-wife, and you might know more about many things than I do. Besides, Sylvester and I are in such a good relationship now, it's only right for me to care about his child."

The word "ex-wife" sent a shock through Calliope's heart. She could hardly bear Dione's affectionate tone any longer and felt like she was going to be sick.

Sylvester, who had been listening to their conversation for a while, added, "This is also my child. After I marry Dione, we will take care of the child together. We are his parents."

These words felt like a bucket of cold water poured over Calliope's heart, making her almost suffocate. She coughed violently and had to drink half a glass of water to catch her breath, her face turning red. Those indifferent words cut her heart like a knife, revealing how estranged she had become in Sylvester's eyes. Calliope opened her mouth but couldn't say a word.

The current situation was completely controlled by Sylvester, and angering him would do no good. Arguing wouldn't change anything.

Seeing Calliope recover, Dione smiled and said, "Calliope, don't worry. I will definitely treat the child as my own and won't mistreat him."

Treat him as her own child? Hearing Dione shamelessly say these words, Calliope felt an urge to tear her apart on the spot. Why? Just because of her powerful family background?

Could Sylvester really be so heartless as to let her child call someone else "mom"? This heartless act was the greatest revenge on Calliope.

Despite the immense grievance in her heart, Calliope chose to remain silent. She couldn't hope to stay in Sylvester's heart anymore; after all, she had brought all the consequences upon herself.

She would never let her child call someone else "mom." No matter how difficult it was, she would take her child and leave, never letting the child suffer any more harm.

The anger on Calliope's face was evident, but Sylvester pretended not to see it and continued to hurt her without a care.

"Dione, would you like to try some?" Sylvester turned to Dione, his tone gentle.

Dione looked at Calliope happily and said with a smile, "No, thanks. I'm on a diet recently. Anyway, we'll have plenty of opportunities in the future."

Hearing this, Calliope knew she would soon be abandoned. Looking at the curvaceous, beautiful, and powerful Dione across from her, she felt incomparable.

Nina's efforts were in vain; it turned out Sylvester had Dione. But she hoped Dione could last a bit longer.

Calliope couldn't stand the clichéd and disgusting scene any longer. She put down her fork and stood up, "I'm full. You two take your time. I'll take a cab home."

"When did it become your decision to go or not?" Sylvester said expressionlessly, "Come with me!"

Sylvester's eyes were resolute, and Calliope had no intention of arguing further. But her mood remained low. Everything was so glaringly obvious in front of her, yet she was helpless.

She could only endure, endure again, with no other choice.

After Sylvester paid the bill, the three of them walked out together. Dione stayed close to Sylvester, as if declaring her sovereignty to Calliope. Calliope followed silently, lips pressed together, saying nothing, her steps slow and her expression bleak. When they reached the car, she unhesitatingly opened the back door and sat down.

"Sit in the front!" Seeing Calliope's quick action, Sylvester ordered with a sullen face.

"No need, front or back is the same. Let Miss Saunders sit next to you." Calliope said expressionlessly, still sitting in the back without moving.

Dione, who was about to open the front passenger door, paused at Sylvester's words, then smiled brightly, "Calliope, you should sit in the front. It's safer for a pregnant woman." Although she was a hundred times unwilling, she maintained a smile on the surface. She misunderstood Sylvester's intention.

Calliope declined her kindness, shook her head, and continued to sit quietly.

Unexpectedly, Sylvester walked over, picked her up from the back seat, opened the front passenger door with one hand, and gently placed Calliope on the seat, carefully fastening her seatbelt.

"Sylvester, you're too much!" Calliope felt a pain in her stomach and shouted angrily.

"I am this much!" Sylvester retorted coldly.

Seeing the two arguing, Dione felt extremely uncomfortable but pretended to be magnanimous and sat in the back. The atmosphere during the entire ride was exceptionally awkward. Dione saw Sylvester carefully fastening Calliope's seatbelt, and although she felt uneasy, she knew it was just for the child's sake. So she hoped even more that Calliope would successfully give birth, as Sylvester had said the child would be raised by her.

After dropping Dione off, the atmosphere in the car became even more oppressive. Calliope had seen Dione kiss Sylvester before entering the house, and it felt like a needle piercing her heart. If they got married, wouldn't she collapse?

On the way home, Calliope finally couldn't help but ask, "Are you really going to marry Dione?"

Faced with this sudden question, Sylvester answered without hesitation, "Yes."

"Do you really like her?" Calliope frowned, remembering that Sylvester wasn't someone who easily fell in love.

"If I don't like her, would I like you?" Sylvester coldly retorted.

This sarcasm made Calliope fall silent, not speaking for a long time.

The neon lights outside the window kept flashing, making her dizzy. Calliope suddenly felt her eyes moist, not knowing if it was because the lights were too glaring or because Sylvester's words hurt her. Anyway, her heart felt very heavy, and she felt utterly pathetic. At this point, she couldn't leave. She had to ensure the child was born safely and still relied on the Moore family.

Although Sylvester felt a bit satisfied with his response, seeing Calliope so silent made him less happy than he had imagined. He had been saying hurtful things all night, clearly out of concern for her.

The car drove slowly, and Calliope took a deep breath. While waiting at a red light, she asked, "After the child is born, can I raise him? I won't ask for anything else."

"No way!" Sylvester immediately denied, "Don't even think about it! My child will not leave the Moore family, and he will never see you, his vicious mother!"

Instantly, Calliope's heart seemed to stop beating, and she found it hard to breathe. How long had he been harboring this answer in his heart?

Did he really hate her that much?

Meanwhile, at the Moore manor, after Dione left, Michael and John were enjoying coffee in the living room.

"I think Dione is good. We can consider making her Sylvester's wife," Michael said with a satisfied smile.

"But Sylvester might not agree?" John questioned.

"He doesn't agree? He brought her home, what else is there to disagree with? I think he's quite satisfied," Michael retorted, raising an eyebrow.

"Dad, you know how much effort Sylvester has put into the bidding project recently. Dione might just be someone he's using. Even if he has some feelings for her, it's not enough for marriage," John explained, respecting his son's wishes was key.
