Chapter 98

Calliope felt a twinge of disdain, but she quickly changed her mind.

Making money this way was fast—$10,000 a pop. The temptation was real, and she was torn.

Bella, noticing Calliope's hesitation, gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder and smiled. "Girl, if you want quick cash, using your body is the fastest way. It's no big deal, $10,000 each time. Think about it, you might never save that much in a lifetime doing regular work."

Calliope wondered if there was a way to get the money and still keep her integrity.

Suddenly, an idea hit her, and she responded with a polite smile, "You have a point. This method does make money fast."

Bella eyed Calliope again, sensing a shift in her attitude and feeling a bit suspicious. Was she up to something?

But Bella quickly brushed off her doubts. To her, Calliope was just a kid. How could she outsmart her? Even if Calliope had a plan, Bella wasn't worried. On her turf, even Rose had to bow down, let alone this young girl.

Bella dropped her playful demeanor and asked seriously, "Have you really decided?"

Calliope smiled calmly, her expression steady. "I mean what I say."

As soon as she had enough money for the medical bills, she would leave this place she hated so much.

"Then it's settled. Come over tonight. I believe you'll be the fastest. You're young, beautiful, and have a great figure. How could you not be popular?" Bella said decisively. She glanced at her watch, realizing it was almost noon, and waved her hand dismissively. "Remember to come tonight. I have something to do now, but I'll set up your first client for tonight."

Watching Bella walk away, the fake smile on Calliope's face slowly faded. She left the hotel, a sly glint in her eyes. Sleeping with men? What a joke!

She was sure there was a way to make money without sacrificing herself, and she was going for it.

Sitting in the taxi, Calliope took out her phone, thought for a moment, and dialed Rose's friend Daisy's number. Daisy wasn't as beautiful as Rose and didn't make as much money, but that was exactly why she could be useful, making her part of her plan.

When the call connected, Calliope didn't wait for Daisy to speak and said directly, "This is Calliope. Want to make some money? Come to your workplace tonight. I have a business deal for you."

Daisy was quite surprised to hear Calliope's voice. Calliope calling to introduce a business deal? It sounded too incredible.

"Are you really that kind? You have a deal and you don't give it to your mom, but think of me instead?" Daisy was suspicious, fearing it might be a trap set by Rose. Calliope cut her off, "You want to make money or not? There's a $2,000-a-night gig right here, and if you don't want it, I'll find someone else. Plenty of people would jump at this."

$2,000! Daisy's eyes lit up. Could Calliope really pull this off? Whether true or not, she'd find out tonight. She didn't think Calliope could set her up. "Alright! I'll be there tonight!"

Calliope smirked as she hung up. She knew Daisy would bite. For people like her, money was everything. It was their only security.

The taxi pulled up outside the hospital, and Calliope walked into the ward. David was lying on the bed reading. Seeing her, he calmly put down his book and smiled. He was always like this, hard to read. Calliope still thought David hadn't changed. She didn't know what she was doing, only what her goal was.

"Calliope, don't you have your own stuff to do? You come here every day. Won't Sylvester give you a hard time? If he does, you shouldn't come so often," David asked casually, but he was closely watching her reaction.

"He’s busy with work and doesn’t have time to bother me." Mentioning Sylvester, Calliope's smile froze for a moment, but she quickly covered it up.

David had already pieced together a picture in his mind. Their relationship was clearly strained.

"I heard he brought Nina home. Now they're all over the news. How could he do that?" David said indignantly.

"It doesn't matter. I don't care about Nina. Let him be," Calliope said lightly, but why did she still feel complicated inside? Maybe it was just unwillingness, she convinced herself.

"Calliope, why are you so foolish?" David pulled her close, gently stroking her hair, a barely noticeable smile on his lips.

Calliope leaned on his lap, smiling softly. "It's good to have you. David, do you like me?"

David's expression stiffened slightly but quickly returned to normal. "Of course I do." But it was the kind of affection between family members, a thought he didn't voice. After all, he still needed Calliope to help save his heart condition.

"Really?" Calliope's heart beat fast, which she hadn't done for a long time. At least David was still by her side.

David nodded silently, a glint of inscrutable light in his eyes. No one could understand his thoughts.

Happy times were always short. Calliope thought of the woman who hadn't come to visit David.

"Hasn't she come to see you?" Calliope asked cautiously, testing the waters.
