Chapter 100- Surrounded By Darkness

Lexy

Another week has passed, and we are still in the same place we were last week. This time I wasn’t fighting anyone about taking care of myself. CJ told me what happened the day I passed out and what our pups did. I don’t want to put them through any more worries. I was lost in thought when the alarms began to blare.

‘My queen. There’s an intruder on our borders’ a warrior on the border mind-linked me. “Intruder at the border” I yelled out to everyone in the room. We went into defense mode and made sure everyone in the tribe was safe. Before we finished organizing ourselves, my warriors mind-linked me again.

‘We got him’. ‘Take him to the cells away from the tribe’ I responded. Once everything had calmed down and everyone was back to what they were doing, we headed to the cells. Once we arrived and noticed who it was, I couldn’t believe it. “Did he put up a fight?”, I asked my warrior. “He did not, my queen. He also came alone”, my warrior responded.

I approached the cell and just looked at him. He looked and felt different from the last time I saw him. Something wasn’t right but not in the wrong way. “Take him to the interrogation room”, I told my guards. “Yes my queen”, they responded in unison.

“I will go in by myself and find out what’s going on”, I instructed everyone. I knew they weren’t going to be happy, but I needed to do that. I needed to figure out why he wasn’t giving me the bad vibes he used to. When everything was set, the guards came to get me. Everyone could see everything through the live monitor. It is the only reason they weren’t arguing.

I walked into the interrogation not knowing what to expect. Before I could even touch him to get the truth out of him, he spoke up. “Go ahead. I’ll tell you everything you need to know”. His words surprised me, but I continued to keep my composure. I placed my hand on his arm and began to ask him questions.

“Why did you come here?”. “I’m here to bargain for my freedom” Cecel responded. “What?!” I said louder than I meant. “I want to bargain information for my men and my freedom” he responded again. “Why make you think you can bargain your misdeeds?” I said harshly.

“I know what’s coming, and you will not win”. All his statements were true. I haven’t felt my power set off on him not even once. I removed my hand from his arm and sat on the chair across from him. “What is it you know?” I asked him. “When I’m sure you will not come for my men and myself, I’ll tell you” he said.

“That will not happen. But depending on what you tell me, I might be able to work something out”, I responded. The room went silent for 10 minutes. I was thinking of leaving the room when I heard him sigh. “I will tell you and hope you can do something for us” Cecel said dejectedly. I nodded in agreement.

Cecel

I had no choice but to speak up and tell her what I knew. I hope The Great Phoenix can forgive me and let me make it back to Savy and our unborn pup.

“He is the definition of evil. I didn’t understand until recently. I know now that I was never the one after your power, it was him pulling all the strings. He is the reason why I’ve done what I’ve done”, I began to tell her. “He is a man, if you can call him that, that lives in the shadows, but he is very powerful. Even his own man fears him, and it is just the way he likes it”.

“I just know him by Master. It is the only name he allows anyone to call him. Everything he does is from the shadows. The only time I ever saw him out of the shadows was because he didn’t trust anyone to do the job. The way things ended that day was extremely bloody and terrifying”.

“I thought I was the one that wanted power, that wanted your power. I betrayed Helio and Xiomara for it. It took me years to figure out the script, but when I did, I wanted your powers more. It didn’t help that I kept communicating with him over everything I did and every move I made. I still can’t recall when he hooked himself into me. I recently realized it wasn’t ever something I wanted or apparently needed in my life. And now my life is in your hands”.

I finished speaking and didn’t know what else I could say. There was this long moment of silence, and you could cut the tension with a knife. I released a breath I held in while spilling everything out finally came out.

This was my plan all along. This is the part of the risk that could never be in my control. I’m not optimistic about it and the reality is that this is my end. But as long as Savy and our pup are safe, I don’t care.

My whole life I’ve been surrounded by pure darkness. I of course, was completely blinded to even see what was happening in front of me. I noticed Lexy approaching me and I just shut my eyes and waited for the end.

Lexy

Something about him seems completely different. His spirit doesn’t have the same malevolence it used to carry. I wasn’t sure what to say or how to react. I was lost in my thoughts but couldn’t come up with an answer. I came up with an idea and proceeded with it.

I walked up to him and placed my hands on his and asked him one question, “Why the change of heart?”. I noticed he was shocked by the way I approached him. “Wh-wh-what?” he stammered out. “Why the change of heart?” I repeated myself to him.
