Chapter 102- Cecel’s Missing Piece

I walked into the interrogation room and Cecel was looking at his feet. “Good morning Cecel” I spoke up. He looked straight at me and gave a half smile. “Let’s get started” I said sternly. He nodded in agreement.
“Anymore details about this ‘Master’ you mentioned?” I asked. “He is a man that is always in the dark. His main way of communicating was through phone calls” Cecel responded. “Do you know how he looks like? Anything about his agenda or background?”.
“I’ve only seen him once and he was standing in the shadows. His eyes were glowing deep red, and he was extremely tall. His voice was very deep and menacing. All I know is that he always knew whether I failed or succeeded in my tasks. He always was the one to make contact with me. Always” he responded with his head hanging low.
“Anything else you might think of even if is not important?” I asked. We went on like this for hours. I didn’t even notice how much time had passed until CJ mind-linked me to take a break. I knew he was worried about me and our baby. I told him to have food brought into the room for myself and for Cecel.
When the food arrived Cecel’s expression became puzzled. “Don’t think about it too much and eat” I told him as I pushed a plate towards him. He hesitated to grab it but as soon as I began to eat he also began to eat. “Now tell me a bit about your mate. Since you came willingly to me, I would like to know who the woman is that changed your ways” I spoke softly and placed a spoon full of food in my mouth.
Cecel began to cough after shocking on his food. I knew I caught him off guard. He chugged down half his cup of water before he responded with fury. “She has nothing to do with what I’ve done”. I continued to eat and then responded with “I know that”. That seemed to throw him off too. “Your wolf knew before you did. Didn’t he?”. He tried to not respond to me, but his wolf came through a bit.
“I know she’s the nurse that was taking care of you and just recently turned of age. What I want to understand is if you have been hiding so well from us why turn yourself in now?”. I raised an eyebrow at him. “You pretty much were free with her. How about I take a guess?” I said teasingly. Before I could continue with my guessing we were interrupted by a guard.
“My apologies my queen, but an urgent matter awaits you” he bowed as he talked. “Let him finish his food and then take him back to his cell. I walked out with a million thoughts running through my head. CJ was outside waiting for me. “Do you know what happened?” I asked while we walked quickly. “Is someone that might be able to help is what I was told. They are waiting in your office” CJ responded.
“In my office?!” I growled out. I took off after hearing that. As I’m arriving to the packhouse I picked up a strange scent and it was mixed. ‘It’s not a threat’ Lei spoke up. I quickly got to my office and when I walked in I couldn’t believe it. It was a pregnant girl. Couldn’t be older than 18. “Who are you? And what are you doing in my tribe?” I asked with a serious and calm tone.
“My apologies Luna. I came to talk to the Alpha in charge” she said in a whisper. CJ who walked in behind me, looked at me stunned. “We are not ruled by an Alpha. I’m the queen and this is my tribe” I responded. She bowed her head all the way. “I do apologize to you your highness. I mean no disrespect” she spoke with a tinge of fear.
“Raise your head child and sit. What is it that you want?” I said calmly. “Your highness, I couldn’t wait any longer for my mate. Things got bad after he left. Our place got attacked by an evil force” she cried as she spoke. “What’s your name? Who’s your mate?”. “My na-name is Savyn and Cecel is my fated mate” she sniffled as she spoke.
“He’s a traitor and is being held under arrest. He must pay for his crimes” I told her. She cried harder after I said that. “Hold on. Did you say an evil force attacked where you were staying at?”. She nodded yes in response. “Did you come straight here after that attack?”. “N-no. One of Cecel’s guys helped me escape and hide for a day before we began to move. He made sure I made safe to your border but wouldn’t get any closer since he could be imprisoned” Savyn responded.
“Can someone bring her a water and something to eat?” CJ called out to the serving ladies. “Yes, my king” they responded and left. I can see Savyn observing CJ and I’s interactions. “I rule with my mate. We are one” I told her lovingly. “Cecel is not who he used to be you know” Savyn said softly. “What do you mean?” CJ asked.
“All he talks about is our future and our baby. He talks how he wants his men to find a place to set roots. He’s not the man I first started caring for” she spoke dreamingly. You could see the love in her eyes. “I know he’s a much older man and I’m a young wolf, but I know who he is and who he wants to be”.
Her words resonated with me. It was the missing link that I detected when Cecel first surrendered. With this information I could decide what I’m going to do with Cecel’s punishment. I’m not taking what he has done personally anymore, but I know he still needs to be punished for his crimes. “Everything will be figured out soon” I told Savyn gently.
