Chapter 56- Break-in
Lexy
It has been a couple of days since I began my training and today they are going over the battle the prophecy speaks off. The war is due to people wanting to get their hands on me for my power. Knowing that information makes me more focused on getting stronger. The group has been doing regular training with a twist since they are being thought to use fire on their weapons.
My training has progressed with my magic and Helio wants CJ to join my training now. Helio says we are more powerful together and CJ will learn to become a protector and use my powers together. CJ joined us for today’s training, and he wasn’t prepared for what we’ve been working on. The workouts are more intense due to him needing to have a better connection to me. Helio said once we finish our training CJ will help boost my power during the battle.
By the end of training CJ was out of breath and looked exhausted. I smirked at him while we were picking up our gym bags and he returned it by sticking his tongue out at me. I ended up laughing and before I noticed he was in front of me with a big wolfish smile. He grabbed my gym bag and then picked me up bridal style. “Let’s see who has the last laugh” he whispered in my ear. By the way he laughed after I knew my cheeks were red. I knew what he was doing so I raised my eyebrow and smirked back. “Will see” I said sheepishly while wrapping my arms around his neck.
CJ
I took her to our room with all intentions of showing her what was funny. Right when I was going to get started on her and alarm went off in the entire pack. As we stood up the crew ran in with a couple of pack soldiers. Lead soldier announced “Rogues hit the perimeter. Kings order to keep you safe”. He said while starring straight at Lexy. We all understood and prepared ourselves for anything. ‘No one is touching her’ Xazul growled out. ‘Let them try’ was my response. Xazul grind at that.
The alarms went silent after a couple of minutes, but we couldn’t hear anything. I could feel Lexy’s anxieties and worries. I held on to her trying to keep her calm. “Have you heard from my father?” she asked the guards. “Not yet my lady” he responded without making eye contact. Her eyes glowed and she stopped responding. I sat her down and waited for her.
Lexy
I can’t stand not being in the know. I know everyone is worried about me, but I was worried about everyone else. I can sense the panic and decided to mind-link Helio myself. ‘Dad are you ok?’. I waited a moment and no response. ‘DAD!’ I pushed forcefully and he finally responded. ‘Are you ok? Did they get to you?’ he said frantically. ‘I’m fine. I’m worried about you and the people. What’s going on?’ I responded sternly.
‘Everyone is fine. I’m fine. Will talk later about the details. But there’s no damage or casualties’. I was relieved with his update. ‘Come back soon’ I tell him and cut the mind-link. When I looked at my surroundings everyone in the room was starring at me. “Did something happened?” I asked the room. “Are you ok? You were gone for a bit” asked Yarielis. “I’m sorry guys. I was talking with Helio, and they are good. Nobody has been injured and they are close to subduing the threat’. Everyone looked relieved and they all let go a breath they seemed to have been holding a while.
After 30 minutes had passed the soldiers got a mind-link and let us know to head down the conference room. We all head down and I’m anxieties to find out what happened. The moment we walked in I couldn’t help but run to Helio and hug him. I can tell that it surprised him, but he wrapped his hands around me and kissed the top of my head. “There, there child” he whispered to me. I didn’t realize how close I was feeling to him. We released each other from the embrace, and everyone was already seated. I sat down with Helio, and he began the update
Helio
“I apologize for the disruption of today. 5 rogues trespassed the border but 3 were killed and 2 were captured. They didn’t make it close to the houses, but I don’t like that they even got in. We will add extra security in the borders while we finish the training of the new recruits. We will do proper rotations with no gaps left. Everyone will rest properly, train more and be more vigilant. The most important thing is to keep Alexia save. She will keep her guards and have 3 of my best guards along too”. I finished speaking and answered any questions. “This meeting is done. Everyone go and get cleaned up before dinner. Make sure plans are implemented immediately”. I held Lexy’s hand, and she stayed in her seat. I waved to CJ to stay too. After everyone left the room I held her hands while looking at her lovingly. I placed my hand on her cheek, and she leaned into it.
“I will do everything to protect you and keep you safe”. Her eyes told me she knew I was being genuine. “I’m sorry CJ. I know is your job, but I just got my daughter, and I don’t want to lose her”. He looked at me with a smirk and responded “I understand completely and I’m not standing in the way of that. It just means more protection for them”. Lexy began to cry with a big smile on her face.
