Chapter 28- Research

CJ
When I woke up the next morning I didn’t feel Lexy on top of me or anywhere near me. I got up frantically with fear that she was taken again. As I jumped out the bed she walked in through the room door with a tray of food. She gave me a funny look and that’s when I realized I was holding my breath from the anxiety I just went through. I grabbed the tray from her put it on the table, turned around and grabbed her face and kissed her. I know I took her by surprise, but she immediately picked up on it and returned the kiss while wrapping her arms around my neck. When we let go of each other we stared into each other’s eyes. I leaned my forehead against her while closing my eyes. I just took a deep breath and held her to me. It was confirmation that she was still here with me.
We let go and she pointed to the food. “Is going to get cold. Let’s eat and then meet your parents at the packhouse” she said sweetly. “Okay muñeca” was my response. I put some shorts on and sat with her to eat in the sitting area in the room. We chatted while eating breakfast and got to know more about her. When we finished eating we got dressed and walked to the packhouse. I held her hand the whole time. I couldn’t help it. I was still going through the motions of her being taken. We walked in through the packhouse doors and the first people we saw were the guys. “Hey lovey doveys” AJ started with. “Hey fish faces” Jace followed. “How you feel Lexy?” Michael asked with concern in his tone. That made everyone stop laughing and Lexy responded “I’m good. Thanks to you guys. Thank you for rescuing me”. “You did most of the work. We just picked you up” Michael answered with a chuckle. That made everyone laugh. “Ready for this meeting?” we heard from the side. It was papi letting us know to hurry up.

Lexy
We went into the conference room and took a seat. I’ve noticed that CJ won’t stop holding me. If he can’t hold my hand, he’ll put his arm around me or place his hand anywhere as long as he was touching me. It made me feel loved and it also made me laugh internally. The meeting began and not even 5 minutes into it all the attention was on me. I hate it but I knew it needed to be done. I began by telling them from the moment that I got taken to the moment CJ showed up. Once I finished telling them all the details Alpha Trevor spoke up “I’m sorry for what you have been through Lexy. With the information you have given us will be of great help to finish putting things together. If there is anything else you remember or any other details, my office will be open for you”. “Thank you sir. I will” I couldn’t help getting shy. “In less than 2 weeks will be the ceremony for the 2 of you. Prepare for that” Alpha Trevor looked at CJ and I about that. We nodded our heads and CJ was grinning. “Lexy, from tomorrow on you’ll finish your studies at home. We are taking precautions. Also, CJ that goes for you too” spoke Beta Angel. He dismissed us after that, and we headed to the dining room to have lunch. Didn’t even realize that much time had passed in there.
During lunch we planned on hanging out in the packhouse game room for a couple of hours. After that we sat down to watch a movie until we got called for dinner. Burgers and fries with milk shakes for drinks. It was yummy. I was glad that the Skylar’s didn’t tell anyone about my heating issue, and I love that everyone’s been doing so much to help me out. After dinner CJ and I went up to our room and decided to watch a movie to help us sleep. We snuggled up together until we fell asleep.

CJ
It has been a week since the day we had the meeting. There are 5 days left before the ceremony for our mate bond and for Lexy to fully integrate in the pack. I was looking forward to it. She was already my mate, but we needed to seal it during the full moon to have the moon goddesses blessing. We’ve been researching the web for any links that would lead us to more information about what is causing her body. We have an idea, but nothing has pan out. We’re sitting in our room finishing some schoolwork when Lexy jumps up and starts going through the bag she brought from her mom’s. She took out the envelope with the pictures of her as a baby and a key fell out. “Hey, can we ask you parents where they think this key would go to?” Lexy asked curiously. “Th-that’s a great idea. What got you thinking about that?” I asked. “I was reading something in ancient history of Greece and was reading about baby phoenix. It made me think about the picture with my father. I need the picture too because I couldn’t remember his name” she responded nonchalantly. I was impressed with her thinking. She immediately got up and extended her hand to follow her. ‘Mami, donde estas ahora (Mom, where are you right now?)?’ I mind-linked my mom. ‘Regresando a la casa ahora (Returning to the house now). I’m walking through the door as I speak’ she answered with a giggle. “Mami just got home. Let’s go downstairs” I told her as I took her downstairs.
When we get to my mom we get her to sit down, and Lexy tells her everything she’s been looking through and the key in the things she got. When Lexy finished, my mom took the key and started thinking about where it could belong. “Is from a bank. Specifically, a deposit box. Theres only one bank in the area that you can try this around here” mom responded after a minute of thinking. “When can we go?” Lexy asked enthusiastically. “No mija. You’re going to have to wait till Monday” my mom said to her. “But you can search your father’s name” mom tried to ease her. “By the way, don’t forget to pack. After the ceremony, you guys are flying to Puerto Rico and meeting grandma in the mountains” that’s the last thing mom said before she left to her room.
I kiss her on the top of her head and then her lips. “We will find out everything you need to know soon. I’ll be there every step of the way” I reassured her. “Thank you for everything you and your family do for me. I love you” she said and kissed me. I held her tight and took her back to our room. I went back to the kitchen for snacks and drinks and returned to her. We laid on the bed with the snack while watching her favorite show.
