Chapter 41- Surprise

Dr. Bennett placed the gel, and she was right that it was cold, but it was cold only for a second. That’s when I noticed that my body heated the cream. Dr. Bennett was surprised at what was happening in front of her eyes. She seems to understand now why Alpha Trevor asked for her discretion. She approached carefully with the sonogram scanner making sure I wasn’t heating up anymore. Once she thought it was safe, she placed it on my stomach and began to search for my pup. After a minute of searching, we heard it. it was the pup’s heartbeat. She was trying to type something on the computer when she moved her hand, and we heard it. She looked surprised and kept moving around the machine. It was there when we saw it. We were having 3 pups. Dr. Bennett printed a picture of the sonogram with a couple of extra copies.
After she wiped my stomach and did all the check ups she needed to make, she let me know I was 6 weeks pregnant. When I thought about it, I got pregnant in Puerto Rico when we went to the ancient grounds. Now it made sense what I said in the shower. That means that I have 4 ½ months to prepare for the birth and to find my mom. CJ cried a bit after finding out we are having 3 pups.

Holy crap. I can’t believe I’m going to be a dad already, but 3 pups blew my mind. I know I must look like an idiot right now, but I don’t care. I’m still processing that we are having 3 pups. “Hey papi. Are you ok?” she asked me in a low tone. I snapped out of it and looked at her. “I’m fine. Just in shock with the news but I’m happy my Phoenix” I say as I grabbed her hand and kissed it. Dr. Bennett looked at me funny. “Is there something wrong Doc?” “I’m sorry. Nothing is wrong. Why did you call her your phoenix?” she asked curiously. “Is something my wolf had said, and it stuck. It also came from when she first began to heat up” was my response. “I understand. It just made me think about something someone I once knew use to talk about”. “Okay. You can get dressed and I’ll be seeing you next week for your prenatal care” Dr. Bennett said to Lexy.
We got our things and left the doctors office. On the way to our house, I mind-linked my family and told them to meet us at the house. I also mind-linked Alpha Trevor to meet us at the house. We got to the house first. Lexy decided to make lunch for everyone while we waited for them to get here. I helped her to make sure she wasn’t over doing it. She chuckled at me when I began to rub her tummy. Right at that point we heard the door and the voices of my family coming in. Alpha Trevor walked in with my parents. The last person to arrive was Alex. Once everyone sat at the table and began to eat the lunch we cooked we decided to tell them. “Hey. Thanks for showing up” and before I could finish my mom started thinking the worst. “Is she ok? Did the Dr. Bennett find something wrong with her?”
My dad stopped her and calmed her down. “Let them finish before jumping the gun mama”. “What we are trying to tell you guys is…” and at that moment Lexy took out the sonogram pics. Everyone’s jaws dropped but when they looked at the pictures their jaws almost hit the ground. “We’re having 3 pups!!” I said loudly. My mom started crying of happiness and dad couldn’t stop smiling. “Congratulations! I’m going to be an uncle” Alex said towards us. It was a nice lunch with everyone going over things to prepare before the pups are born. Lexy got up and began to pick up plate. I stopped her and did it myself. Everyone laughed at that. While I was cleaning the dishes I could hear Lexy speaking to Alpha Trevor about Zequiel and what the new information had provided to the investigation.

“Who do you think took my mom? Zequiel said he had nothing to do with her disappearance. Do you think he might know who did?” I asked Alpha Trevor. He sighed and said, “I was going to ask if you could come in for one more interrogation, but I’m not sure if I want to put you in that position”. He was concerned for me. “I know I’m pregnant but anything I can do to get answers I’ll do it” I responded with resolve. “I’ll allow it, but I will ask all the questions. And if I feel anything is wrong I’ll cut it short” Alpha Trevor told me. I nodded my head in agreement when CJ stepped in. “You can’t go in there Lexy”. I turned and looked at CJ and said, “Papi, I know you’re worried. But I must do this and just because I’m pregnant don’t mean I can’t get things done”. I was stern with him so he could understand I’m serious. He hung he’s head low and nodded at me.
I kissed him on the cheek and looked back at everyone. Sheera had a big smile on her face and winked at me. Alpha Trevor decided to leave it for the next day to ask the last questions he had for Zequiel. We agreed and went on with our days. We decided to invite all our friends over for an early dinner to let them know of the news. I started to cook, and Sheera stood right next to me helping. CJ never was too far from me. “You know that is not going to change even after you give birth. He gets it from his dad. Angel was like that with me too” Sheera smiled as she spoke. Then she pointed to a corner and that’s when I noticed Angel not too far from the kitchen. I chuckled at the thought. We turned the radio on and continued to cook.
Everyone showed up by 6pm and Sheera and I were almost done with dinner. Angel and CJ mingled with them in the living room until we finished. The guys had set up the back with the picnic tables to be able to sit everyone. I was going to start bringing things outside when CJ and Angel came in and took everything from our hands. Sheera wasn’t kidding when she said like father like son. I smiled and gave him a quick peck. We led everyone outside and sat down to eat. While eating CJ got everyone’s attention. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up to stand next to him. “We have some great news to share with everyone. We are expecting pups” he shouted out. Everyone gasped at first and then cheered for us. I was a bit embarrassed, but CJ didn’t let me look down. He nodded at me signaling to finish telling the news. “Also, we are having triplets”. Everyone went silent and their jaws almost hit the floor. Yarielis was the first one to step up to me and hug me. “OMG! We are going to set a schedule to help with the pups” Yarielis said with a huge smile.
Everyone took the news in stride, and I couldn’t be happier for the people that surrounded me. I started to cry from all the happiness. “Are you ok my Phoenix?” CJ was worried. “I’m fi-fine. Just re-really happy” I sniffled the words out. almost everyone ‘aww’ at me. CJ held me and kissed the top of my head. We all got back to eating and chatting, but all the chatting now was about my pups and everything we need to get and who’s going to be the favorite aunty. It was a good, fun night. I pulled Ruby and Eva to the side to make sure the plans for Yarielis’s birthday were still going right.
Her birthday is in 2 weeks, and I was excited for it. She had no idea what we were up to. As we finished the conversation, Yarielis approached us saying, “Hey. Don’t try to cheat. I’m going to be the favorite aunty”. We all busted out laughing hard. The girls played along, and they kept making jokes about it. I just responded with “You are all going to be the best aunties ever. My pups are lucky to have all of you”. The girls gushed at that and gave me a group hug.
