Chapter 36- The Ancient Prophecy

2 days flew by. We are on our way to the airport with Alex at the wheel. I’m nervous about the answers I’ll get once I’m there. We said our goodbyes to Alex and checked in to our flight. After an hour our flight got called up a bit earlier than expected but I was feeling great with that. I needed these answers to see if it'll leave me to mom. We sat in our assigned seats and 3hrs later we landed. We got picked up at the airport by Sheera’s family. It was a good thing that we came too since CJ hasn’t seen them in a couple of years. He’s uncle Kaury was driving the truck, and his wife Cesilia was sitting in the passenger seat. His uncle is a big jokester, while his wife is a chatter box but all positive traits.
When we arrived at their home, it looked like we were welcomed by the whole community. It was midday at this point. Was crazy is that it’s his whole family. They had a whole feast and a lot of live music going. It was an amazing sight to see. I talked with a lot of the family members but can’t remember all the names. A couple of his closer cousins kept helping me not get overwhelmed with all of them. The night hit and the family were still partying. I was ready to sleep at that point. Kaury told us we were going to the mountains in the morning to meet as he refers to her ‘Mama Cita’. He told me to get use to calling her that. She doesn’t accept to be called any other name with the family.
The next day I didn’t want to get up. My whole body hurt from dancing most of yesterday and walking from one member to the other. They didn’t lie when they told me Boricuas can party. It was 9 in the morning all I wanted to do was return to bed. I go to the bathroom and take a long cool shower. When I get out, I see CJ still sleeping away. I jump on top of him and scare him awake. “WH..WHAT?” I saw the confusion on his face and cracked myself up. I couldn’t stop laughing and that’s when CJ was able to focus. He began to tickle me, and I ran out of air. He stopped and then kissed me. “Are you trying to tempt my Phoenix?” I could hear the lust in his tone. He knew how to make my body react.
I kissed him and turned him on the bed and got up. “I don’t think so. Go get ready we overslept a bit” I sticked my tongue out at him and walked into the bathroom to get dressed. I could hear him chuckle through the door. I get dressed quick and let him in so he can get ready too. After we finished we head to the kitchen and Kaury greats us. “Buenos dias love birds”. “Como durmieron anoche? (How you sleep last night?)” “Really good” CJ answered with a yawn. We all laughed at that. We joined them for breakfast and after breakfast Kaury took us to the mountain. “Mama Cita has been looking forward to see you guys since Sheera called” Kaury began making conversation. “I haven’t seen her in like 3 years. Is she still throwing chancletas?” CJ responded. “Like she was throwing a right hook” he laughs while answering. By the time the laughter stops, we arrive to the entrance.
“Okay kids. From here you walk for 10 minutes, and you’ll see her house. I’ll come get you tomorrow” he told us before getting off the truck. We waved goodbye and began walking. After 10 minutes we arrived at her house. She was sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch. She looked like a cute grandma. “Que esperan? Entren ya (What are y’all waiting for? Get inside)” she said loudly and firm. “Bendicion” CJ responded to her. I followed. “As I was passing her she stops me. “Let me look at you?” she stated. I just stood there and let her check me out. “It is you mija. I knew it since Sheera called me” I looked at her and stared at what she said. She walked me inside and sat me down. She went to a cabinet and took a huge old book out. I already was frozen in place with her words and looking at that book just left me numb. She placed the book on the table and CJ picked me up and placed me on his lap and held me tight.
She understood what was happening and placed her hand on my forehead. “She’s warming up. Her changes are closer than I thought. She brought a cup with what I thought was water, but it was some type of remedy. I drank the whole thing and felt better instantly. She sat down and open the book. Some of the images looked like the ones from the book I that was left for me. This had more details, and it was in Taino. “Mama Cita, what’s happening to me?” I asked her straight. “Mija you’re a descendent of the Ancients. This book speaks of your prophecy”. She smiled while holding my face. Then she let me go and began.
“The prophecy speaks that every 500 years a very powerful female hybrid will be born to rule. It talks about a fiery transformation. Her fated mate will be born on the same day she is born. That would make her more powerful because they become one. He is her balance and the peace during the change. He will be the only one to touch her and not be hurt during her transformation time. It also tells that sometimes it causes war with the wrong people trying to mate her to gain her powers”. “So, you see child, your prophecy speaks of you being a ruler. You and my great-grandson will do amazing things” she said with a big smile. “I never thought I get to see this prophecy in my life. The book does talk about your powers to come. You might also find how to use them or control them”. “WOW” is all I could say. Is all that came out of my mouth.
I was left dumbfounded but also gave me hope in me. But then fear set in me. I was meant to do great things. I was meant to rule the people. Holy shit. I needed a moment to process everything she said. Now I know why Tio Kaury left us for a whole day. She brought out drinks and some foods to help me digest what she just said. She did say when I was ready she had something else to show me.
