Chapter 120- Adjustments

Lexy

We finally returned home, and my first order of business is to introduce my pups to the pack. They have been hiding for far too long. Since our motherland people got to meet them first. The tribe was preparing a feast for our return and will begin at sundown. CJ helped me prepare the pups for their introduction.

I was ecstatic to have my whole family together again, but I couldn’t get rid of the gnawing feeling of sadness and loss. Having her breakdown the way she did that night has us with our heads down and our tail between our legs. We are not sure how to help her get through this. And the anger for not being able to keep her safe.

As the days passed, the bond between us grew stronger. We had faced many trials together, and each obstacle had only served to unite us further. The pups adapted quickly to their new environment, proving that they were resilient and capable.

The feast that evening was a celebration of our journey and the beginning of a new chapter. The tribe welcomed us with open arms, their smiles and laughter filling the air with a sense of belonging. The fire crackled and sent sparks into the night sky, mirroring our spirits as we rejoiced in this moment of triumph.

Through the joyful blaze, I found solace in Lexy's leadership and resilience. Her unwavering determination to protect and lead our pack was the anchor we needed. As she stood tall, addressing the gathered tribe, her words infused us with courage and hope.

"The future is ours to shape," she declared, her voice carrying the weight of our collective dreams. "Together, we will overcome any challenge and forge a path that honors our ancestors and inspires generations to come."

Her conviction was undeniable, and as the night wore on, I knew we were ready to face whatever the world had in store for us. With Lexy at the helm, our pack was unstoppable, and our hearts were filled with the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Lexy spoke again, “And is this new beginning we would love to introduce you to the next generation”. We lifted the pups in the air with pride.

The crowd erupted in cheer and happiness. They welcomed the triplets and blessed them, and the triplets ate up all the attention.

Seeing my babies smiles while they met the tribe members put my mind a bit at ease. Of course, they were being always watched by their assigned warriors. But I couldn’t help the anxiety building inside of me.

I felt a tiny tap on my shoulder with a giggle. “Mami” the tiny voice called out. I excused myself from the members I was talking to and when I turned around it was Alexia. I extended my arms, and she jumped right in. “Muñequita de mami” I spoke to her while kissing her face. Having her in my arms seemed to calm me down.

As I was cuddling with Alexia CJ came towards us with the boys in his arms. I knew I was smiling big with the way CJ looked at me. “Thank you everyone for tonight. We will see you tomorrow. Have great fun night” I speak to everyone in the room. They all understood and wished us a good night to us.

As we were leaving our moms stopped us to take the kids for the night, but I refused to let them go and rejected their offer. We made our way to our room and headed straight to our bed. CJ placed all the pups on me while he went to get their bottles ready. I kissed their tiny heads and didn’t notice I was crying until Elio placed his hand on my face.

CJ walked in with their bottles and handed them to the pups. He helped me without taking the kids off me. I cuddled up to CJ while they drank their milk and fell asleep. I didn’t realize I was tired until I closed my eyes and didn’t open them till the next day.

It's been 2 days since we’ve been back, and Lexy and the pups are attached to the hip. They cry when they are far away from her and she’s constantly anxious when she doesn’t have them. I know she went through something horrible, but she hasn’t talked about it since.

The bond between Lexy and the pups seemed unbreakable. I often found myself marveling at her strength, even as a wave of concern washed over me. Her eyes would cloud over momentarily with a distant sadness, only to clear when the pups demanded her attention.

I encouraged her to take small breaks, to breathe and remember that she was not alone on this journey. Each time, she would nod, but her gaze remained focused on the little ones, as if they were her lifeline. The nights were the hardest for her, with the memories of the past lurking just beneath the surface.

One evening, as we sat together in the quiet of our room, the pups finally asleep between us, I took her hand in mine. "Lexy, you know you can talk to me about anything," I said softly. She looked at me, her eyes reflecting the depth of her emotions.

She shook her head slightly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I know, CJ. It's just... sometimes, I feel like if I speak about it, it will become too real. And right now, I need to focus on our babies and their happiness."

I squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Whenever you're ready, I'm here. We'll face it together, just like we always do." But I knew she was hiding a lot of pain behind that smile.

A couple of more days passed, and Lexy couldn’t hide anymore how she felt. I was worried for her, and I couldn’t wait for her anymore to open herself up. I asked our moms to watch the kids while I prepared a day for her and I. I didn’t want her to feel pressured or ambushed by me.

I took her out to her favorite spots around the land and made her favorite foods to eat. Once I had her by the waterfall, I chose to speak to her about my observations of her. I could see she was getting ready to snap at me. She surprised me when she let out a sight and began to cry.

I held her so tightly. “I got you muñeca. Please talk to me” I begged her and then placed a kiss on her head.
