Chapter 137- Return

Lexy

As I entered back into the conference I couldn’t help but think about how things were going with the search. CJ took hold of my hand and brought me back to the room.

As everyone sat and discussed things among each other a thought came to mind. ‘I have a plan, and I need you to follow my lead’ I mind-linked CJ. ‘Whatever you need muñeca’ he responded.

He squeezed my hand giving me the go ahead and do what I needed to do. “Ladies and gentlemen” I address the room. Once I had everyone’s attention I continued.

“Since Adrian is addiment about wanting to take one of my warriors, why don’t we add an exchange program into the stipulations?” The whole room fell into complete silence. I noticed Adrians’ demeanor change too. He tried to compose himself quickly, but it was too late.

Before anyone could compose themselves I made another announcement, “I’ll give everyone sometime to talk it over with your packs and 1 rule from each you think would be important to agreed to the exchange program”. The moment I finished speaking I took my leave.

I left one of my warriors at the door to let me know once everyone was ready to continue.

As I walked towards my office my phone rang. “What’s your status?” I answered. “We have her my queen. We are heading towards the airport now” he responded. “See y’all soon”.

After Lexy finished with the phone call she began to glow warmth that made you feel completely safe and at home. She must have received good news on that call.

Before I got to ask her anything she grabbed my hand and pulled me while she walked fast. Once in the office she shut the door and began to speak with tears in her eyes.

“They found her! They found her! They are bringing her back now”. The happiness emanating from her was contagious. I held her tight while she went through all the motions. As we were discussing details of what Lexy announced someone knocked at the door.

“Come in” I said loud enough. “Pardon for the intrusion. The other alphas are requesting your presence at the conference” a warrior reported. We nodded in understanding and made our way to the conference.

I’ve been sitting here going over all the notes of rules everyone finds appropriate for the exchange program. The good thing about it is that they all agreed it is a great idea to show unity.

The hours ticked away as discussions continued. The only one that stopped talking since I made the announcement has been Adrian.

Good.

Seeing him sweat and not be able to give one of his nonchalant answers makes me smile on the inside. The conversations continued but at this point things seem to be going a lot smoother. Conversation has become lighter.

Before I knew it, time had flown by, and the kitchen ladies walked in to announce that dinner was ready. “We will call it a night and continue things tomorrow morning” I announced to the room.

“Great! We get to enjoy one more night of the wonderful food” one alpha said. “Yes, yes!!” a couple of other alphas agreed in unison. I smiled at their response and ushered them to go fill their bellies.

As the alphas dispersed towards the dining hall, I stayed back for a moment, gathering the papers and notes scattered across the table. The atmosphere had shifted—less tense now, more hopeful. I could feel the echo of progress in the room, a quiet hum of potential unity.

Adrian lingered near the doorway, his usual confident demeanor faltering as he hesitated. His voice broke the silence. “Lexy, I wanted to say… you know how to handle yourself. I underestimated your ability.”

I glanced up, caught off guard by his honesty. “Thank you, Adrian. Never expected that from you,” I responded, with uncertainty where he was going with it, but I’m not backing down.

The scent of roasted meats and freshly baked bread wafted in, urging me to join the others. With one last look at the now-empty room, I turned and followed Adrian towards the warmth and camaraderie of the dinner table, where the sound of laughter and clinking utensils awaited. Tonight, it seemed, would be a celebration of small victories.

While seeing everyone enjoying themselves I couldn’t help but think about how Tarria was holding up. How bad was her injuries? I haven’t heard anything back since before they boarded the flight.

I know the flight is a couple of hours and then the ride is another couple of hours. ‘Alpha Roy wants to know if he could have the recipe of the baked bread for his Luna?’ CJ mind-linked me bringing me back to the moment.

“Yes, Alpha Roy. I’ll let Lady Marisol know and I’ll have it sent to your room” I responded with a smile. I held CJ’s hand under the table as my way to thank him.

Dinner came to an end, but the Alpha’s and representatives weren’t ready to go to bed. I had the ladies set a bong fire and let them enjoy themselves.

I returned to my office with CJ and called our moms to speak to our pups. After the call we kept going over all the notes and information we had to make this alliance happen.

Midnight struck on the clock, and we were almost done with the paperwork. “Can’t believe we finished with the paperwork already” I tell CJ.

“That’s how things work when you focused” he responded with a chuckle. I pad him in the arm and then gave him a kiss.

As we were getting ready to leave the door burst open and the scout team walked right through the door. Before I could say or do anything. Tarria was being held up by one of the scout warriors.

I couldn’t believe how she looked. She looks like she’s been through hell and back how disheveled she looked.
