Chapter 44- Ancient Phoenix

It’s been a week since we found out about the pups, and Lexy goes through the motions every other day. Today we see the doc for a checkup and an ultrasound. I couldn’t wait to see the pups on the screen and hear their heart beats. Lexy seemed better today, and her appetite was impressive. But I know is because she is carrying 3 and I’m grateful for her. Whatever she wants or needs, she will get.
We’ve arrived a couple of minutes early again. But we have a great doctor because she was waiting for us. She did some tests on Lexy again while I waited in the hallway. Once it was time for the ultrasound I was right next to her with a huge smile. “Here we go” Dr. Bennett said with a smile. After a couple of seconds there they were on the screen. A bit bigger than before and very strong hearts. “Wow. They’re bigger than they should be” Dr. Bennett looked surprised. “Are they ok?” asked Lexy worried. “They’re more than okay. They are big and strong” doc said positively. Her relief was my relief. She gave us the new pictures of our pups and I swear I was smiling from ear to ear.

After the docs visit today, I couldn’t stop smiling along with CJ. We got to the house and mama Sheera came straight to me and began to ask how everything went. CJ gave her the ultrasound copy we had made for her, and she couldn’t stop gushing over it. She has been staying close to always know what’s going on with me. I love her so much. She had made something to eat knowing I was coming back after the appointment. We sat in the kitchen for a bit talking about the baby stuff we need, and she wants to throw me a baby shower in 2 months, which is when we find out the sex of the pups. She was more excited than I was. I decided to take the rest of the day to continue to read the translation but was interrupted by CJ. “Hey muñeca. Alpha is here to see you” he tried to sound sweet, but I could tell something wasn’t right.
He let him into the room and sat down across from me. “How are you feeling?” he asked sounding concerned. “Everything is good. The doc said so. And I’m feeling good. Just please tell me what’s wrong” I said calmly. “We found information on where your mom might be”. “But..” I urged him to continue. “But is unknown territory a couple of states over and is not confirmed yet” Alpha Trevor said with hope. “The scouts went to try and confirmed but we haven’t heard from them yet. It’s only been 2 days since their last update”. “And what about the Alpha to Zequiel’s pack?” I asked with concern in my tone while holding my bump. “That’s another matter and I am looking into it” Alpha Trevor responded with no signs of emotion. I nodded my head to him. “Thank you for everything you’ve done for me” I said while approaching him for a hug. He returned it awkwardly and that made me laugh. He understood and laughed with me.
It has been a week since the conversation with Alpha Trevor and I haven’t heard any new information. Now I’m 2 months pregnant and due to being 3 pups my baby bump is a new sight. Dr. Bennett is super happy with how strong and healthy my pups are. I had the urge to ride my bike lately, but CJ was too worried I would fall and get hurt, but at the same time he wanted me to do as I pleased. I compromised and didn’t ride, but I would once the pups were born. CJ was happy with that. I still had to do the maintenance for the month and turn it on. It was a distraction on the days I didn’t train.
I’ve been trying to not drive myself crazy waiting on an update about my mom. At this moment I decided to stop my pity party and went back to finish the translation. I’m hoping that at the end of it I would have an answer where to find my father or a location close enough. I ‘ve only got a quarter of the translation left to read and I’ll be finished. I did find something interesting while reading right now. It seems my powers will expand and evolve, just not sure how or what they are. I do know everything is related to fire and the Great Ancient Phoenix.
I decided to use my laptop and do more research on the great ancient Phoenix. I needed to know what it means to my life or the changes I’m going through. I delve so deep into my research that I didn’t even realize how much time had passed. Right at that moment, CJ walked in with food and a drink. “I figured you hadn’t left the room and is time to fill that tummy” he smiled as he spoke. “Thanks, papi. I think I figured something out” I responded excitedly. “Run it by me while you eat something”. I nodded and patted next to me for him to sit down. He sat down and got me to eat before I began explaining. Once I had enough bites to satisfy the hunger I prepared myself to speak.
“The translation kept talking about the Great Ancient Phoenix. I kept wondering why, so I began to google it. It turned out the legend is older than I thought. The Great Ancient Phoenix appears every 500 years like mama Cita said but it appears due to war. It appears right before the great war to help restore balance. The Great Ancient Phoenix is royalty. It will always be reborn in a female of is descendants. The males do have powers but not like the females. Males are meant to protect the females and the history of it”. When I finished telling him he seemed surprised and intrigued. I started to feel like I was speaking nonsense when he finally opened his mouth.
“Now that makes sense on why Xazul always refers to you as his Fiery Queen” he said it with a lot of love in his tone. I grabbed his face and kissed him while a couple of tears escaped me. “Don’t cry muñeca. I’ll always be by your side”. He kissed me again reassuring me of his love. I held him tight and said, “I have to find my father. He holds all the answers I need”.
