Chapter 19- Who Am I?

I was in total shock. My father’s name is Helio Athanas. Making my name. I don’t know why hide all of this and why not just tell me. There’s got to be more to the story that I’m missing. I was so lost in my own thoughts, that I didn’t notice when CJ took the papers from me and began to wave his hands in front of me.
CJ
I got distracted with the photos. Why was he they called her ‘Baby Pheonix’? the question was bothering me. I set the pictures down and when I looked up at Lexy, she was gone. Like in a trans looking at the papers in her hand. I wanted to know what it was, but I wanted to make sure she was ok. I took the papers from her hands and began to wave my hands in front of her. She finally acknowledges me and apologized for being distracted. “You don’t need to apologize. Just want to make sure that you are doing good.” “Now, what did you find?” I asked calmly. I sat behind her, so I can comfort her as she speaks about the information she just found out about her life. And I’m guessing her missing father.

“I don’t know who I am. My name is not Alexia Carty, is Alexia Athanas-Carty. And I don’t even know what that means” I felt exasperated but calm thanks to my mate. ‘You said MATE’ Leila shouted. ‘I did, didn’t I?’ I respond a bit surprised at my own thoughts. Everything has been so crazy that I didn’t process that either. “OMG!! We’re marked!” I said very loudly. Did he vibrated behind me from surprise or was it him chuckling? He held me tight and whispered in my ear “Yes, mate”. Emphasizing [Mate]. He gave me chills.
He kissed my cheek and then said “I’m going to talk to my parents about your father’s name. Something about the last name that feels oddly familiar”. That made me turn around to look at him. “What do you mean?” I asked with my head tilted. “I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like I know it, like is imprinted in me” he said with confusion and apologetic. I put my hands on his face and leaned my forehead on his. “Thank you my mate” and kissed him. He lifted me and had me wrap my legs around him. We kissed for a while and eventually released each other. We just sat there embracing each other.

After a break of holding each other, we got back to the paperwork in front of us. After 2hrs of reading, I made her take a break. I took her downstair to grab some food. We decided to eat lunch in the seating area outside the packhouse. The food seems to be helping her mood. “You know I like to watch you eat” I stated to her. “And why is that creepo?” she retorted. There’s my fiery girl. “Because you look cute and very happy”. “I am” she stuck her tongue and then continued to eat. I smiled at her. We finished lunched and went back to the suite, but this time is to pack everything and bring it to my parents’ house. Will stay there until things calm down.
We got to my parents' house and was going to take her things to my room when my brother told me to follow him. He takes me to his room on the 3rd floor which is a private loft. When I walked in all my stuff was here. “What is this?” I asked in shock. “We all worked on it. We figured since you have your mate and marked her, you guys needed the privacy and space” he shrugged with a huge smile. “Thank you bro. You guys always know how to do it”. I placed her bags down and we did our handshake that we finished with our bro hug. Lexy was downstairs with my mom in the kitchen. As soon as we put her bags in the closet, we headed down to the kitchen and all we can smell is my mom’s cooking.
As we entered I froze in place. Lexy was talking Spanish while cooking with my mom and had her back to me. She looked stunning. ‘Mamacita’ Xazul howled several times. Alex noticed me drooling and closed my mouth. I shook my head while Alex walked towards mom to see what she was cooking. I slowly approached Lexy as she turned around to look at me, I grabbed her and kissed her. Alex began to whistle and clap while my mom was crying. I think. When I let her go, I can see my mom did cry a bit.

When CJ grabbed me and kissed me, it really took me by surprise. When he let me go, all I was is red from embarrassment. I couldn’t even turn around and look at his mom. “Don’t worry mija. I’m so happy for you guys. And to find una mujer maravillosa (wonderful woman)” he’s mom responded sweetly as she approached me and gave me a big hug. “Thank you Sheera” I exhale a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Hey mami. Can we sit tonight and talk? Lexy has discovered somethings, and we think you guys might help” CJ spoke. “Claro mijo. We can talk while we eat dinner. Your father will be here by then” Sheera responded while getting back to cooking.
“I’ll be helping your mom. Go have fun with your brother or something. It’ll be about 2hrs before dinner is ready” I responded while going back to the cooking. “Okay my Phoenix. I’m going to call the guys to come over. It has been a couple of days and their worried” he said after kissing my head. “Oh great. Mas bocas. It’ll be 3hrs before dinner is ready since we must add more food with does monstritos coming” Sheera laughed as she spoke. I noticed how she loves to mix her English and Spanish in one sentence. I’m glad I learned Spanish when we stayed that year in California.
As we cooked dinner I can hear CJ outside with his boys goofing off. I don’t know why but seeing him like that puts a smile on my face. I didn’t notice I had spaced out when Sheera caught my attention by saying “That’s called love sweety. Hold it tight”. She turned around and kept on with dinner. ‘She’s right Lexy. We do love him’ Leila said with a big wolfish grin. I couldn’t even respond to her about it. ‘Your silence tells me everything’ Leila was mocking me. ‘You’re one talk. You’ve been drooling since the moment you sniffed our mate on our birthdays. ‘Yeah, yeah. At least I don’t deny what I know and feel. Grow a wolf and tell it like it is’. Leila laughed at me. I decided to not respond to her anymore. And I know that she is right about everything she said but I’m not ready to admit it. Or is it that I’m afraid. But afraid of what and why? 'Got you thinking, didn't I?' Leila said smugly.
