Chapter 113- One Step Closer

Bael

She was still unconscious, and no one could tell me why. Dion was more vicious than usual. He wants what belongs to him now. He’s making it hard to stay focused and have patience. I couldn’t concentrate on anything except what Dion wanted.

I haven’t been able to get anything done. All my concentration is keeping Dion at bay. Every attempt I make to focus on a task is thwarted by his relentless desire to claim what is his. I feel his presence gnawing at the edges of my mind, a constant reminder of the bond we share and the turmoil it brings.

I knew I was closing in, but I didn’t want to lose sight and kept my head straight. The only way I could make sure the mission was a success was to stay focused and precise. We are coming Lexy, just hold on a little longer. Every instinct within me guided my steps, urging me forward with renewed determination.

As we moved deeper into enemy territory, the air grew thick with tension. I could sense Xazul's mounting anticipation, mirroring my own. The landscape seemed to blur around us, each detail etched sharply into my mind. With every heartbeat, the connection between Lexy and me pulsed with an intensity that was impossible to ignore. We were close, so very close.

The faint sound of distant voices reached my ears, and I knew we were approaching their stronghold. Stealth was paramount now, and every movement had to be deliberate. Xazul's senses were on high alert, picking up nuances that guided us through the maze of potential dangers. The anticipation was a tangible force, driving me to push forward despite the lurking fears.

Once we got close to the enemy, we halted into position. "Tarria, make sure everyone is in position, and the teams are set for a sneak attack and what follows," I reported to her. "Yes my king," Tarria responded.

The silence before the storm was palpable, each breath we took seemed to echo in the still night air. I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on us, the gravity of what was about to unfold. The darkness wrapped around us like a cloak, concealing our movements as we prepared for the imminent confrontation.

My heart raced not only from the anticipation but also from the unwavering focus that the mission demanded. The shadows shifted subtly as Tarria coordinated with our teams, her efficiency and precision a testament to her unwavering loyalty and skill. The tension was tangible, yet amidst the anxiety, there was an undercurrent of resolute determination.

As we waited, poised and ready, I took a fleeting moment to reflect on all that had brought us to this point. The trials, the sacrifices, and the unwavering drive to rescue Lexy. Every step had led us here, and now, there was no turning back. Our resolve was steadfast, our hearts united in purpose.

The signal was given, and like a well-oiled machine, our forces moved in unison. The night erupted into calculated chaos as we executed the plan with precision. The enemy was caught off guard, their defenses crumbling under the weight of our strategic assault.

In the midst of the battle, I held onto the thought of Lexy, her presence as a beacon of hope guiding me through the turmoil. The connection we shared fueled my strength, and I pushed forward with renewed vigor. Victory was within our grasp, and with it, the promise of reunion.

When I regained my senses, CJ and the kids were already gone. Mother and Lei stood by me with a sweet look on their faces. “Is time for you to go and finish this war my child” mother spoke to me gently. I nodded my head in understanding, and we held each other tight. As we held each other I closed my eyes and when I reopened them I was in a dim light room with beeping noises.

I began to look around the room when a nurse walked in the door. The moment she saw my eyes she ran out of the room. Panic set in as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. The walls were sterile white, and the beeping noises came from a machine beside my bed, monitoring my vital signs. I realized I was in a different room, but how I got there was a mystery.

Moments later, the nurse returned, accompanied by a doctor. He had a calm demeanor, but I could see the concern etched in his face. "You're awake," he said, relief evident in his voice. "You've been through quite an ordeal."

I tried to sit up, but my body felt heavy and uncooperative. "My baby?" I managed to ask, my voice was hoarse and unfamiliar.

"You're in a recovery room," the doctor replied. "The baby is gone." The memories started to trickle back, fragmented and disjointed. The fight with Bael before I passed out. I wanted to cry for my unborn pup, but the rage inside of me was consuming me and I want to end it once and for all.

I knew I had to keep my emotions in check while I’m hooked on the monitors. I used my training and kept myself calm. The doctor noticed that I’ve become quiet and walks out of the room before he even does a checkup. I didn’t get to ask how long I’ve been out.

All I know is that I must keep my composure when Bael finally walks through the door. I had to make sure he didn’t know I was fully aware of the situation. I will end this once and for all. I felt a tear coming down and I wiped it away before anyone came into the room.

I was about to lose my temper again when the doctor walked through the door trying to catch his breath. “Spill it out” I growled at him. “Sh-she’s a-a-awake!” he responded with a shake breath.
