Chapter 67- Unfortunate
CJ
Her pulse was low and she wasn’t waking up. I can’t lose her now and we are still in the middle of a battle. Helio was making sure to keep them away and I couldn’t tell him her condition. “Please baby stay with us” I begged her. They stopped the bleeding, but she was intubated and hasn’t responded.
I was taking care of the babies with the help of our moms while staying by her side. It has been over 24 hours since she passed out. Doc doesn’t think is looking good and Helio just found out about her. He understood why I kept it but couldn’t get over what was happening to her. He spent some time with his grandkids and then returned to finish the battle.
I kept talking to her hoping she was listening. Her heartbeat kept dropping and I couldn't accept not having her with us. I begged the moon goddess to keep her with us. It was midnight when I was woken up by her machines going off. The doctor and nurses rushed in and worked on her.
I didn’t want to leave her, but I was pushed out but one of the nurses. “Please sir. Let us work on her” she told me as she got me out the room and closed the door. My heart wanted to jump out of my heart. Our kids were in the nursery room with our moms who left a couple of minutes before the alarms when off.
‘Helio! You need to get here NOW!!’ I mind-link him historically. He didn’t even respond. Not even a minute later he was next to me. “What happened?” Helio asked concerned. “Not sure. Just that she’s code blue and they’ve been working on her since the alarms when off” I responded. I attempted to enter the room but was stopped at every try.
Xazul was going nuts waiting outside of their room and not being able to see her and worse was not being able to hold her. Helio could tell I was about to lose control and he was keeping us centered. I don’t know how he was doing it, but I felt like my desperation would drive me mad.
So much time had passed, and I lost my temper as I realized so had Helio. We barged in the room and demanded answers. The moment I looked at them bowing and not working on Lexy that something was wrong, very wrong. Dr. Bennet stepped forward and spoke to us with her head down and wouldn’t make eye contact.
“I’m so sorry your majesty. She didn’t make it” she spoke lowly. Then bowed in front of me and repeated the same thing. I couldn’t listen to anything in the room. I walked straight to her bed and held her in my arms. Her temperature felt normal, but she wasn’t breathing or moving.
“Baby please wake up. You can’t leave us. You can’t leave me” I begged her while crying to her. “Muñeca de Fuego (Doll of fire). Please open your eyes and let me see your beautiful green eyes again”. I couldn’t stop crying and begging her. Doc and the nurses left us alone with her.
Helio
Not my baby girl. This can’t be happening right now. “Please stay sweety. Please come back to us” I held her hand while crying and pleading to her. I got a mind-link from my warriors about the situation at the borders and the sadness with the anger coursing through me needed to be released. “I love you my ball of fire” I kissed her hand. I stood up and looked at CJ, “I must go. Take care of her”. I took off to the borders towards the south and was ready to end this battle. I needed to be with my family as soon as possible.
CJ
I nodded to Helio as he left the room. I held tight to Lexy and kept begging her to stay. Dr. Bennet came in and was trying to get me to let her go. I growled at anyone that got near her. “Please CJ. You must let us clean her up” I heard Dr. Bennet plead with me. I noticed she was covered in blood and nodded to Doc in response. “Please come back. I love you” I whispered to her and placed her gently on the bed.
“Only you can touch her” I tell Doc. She nodded in understanding and instructed a nurse to get me clean close and for me to clean up. I went into the bathroom in the room and made sure I cleaned up fast. I got out of the bathroom and Doc was carefully taking care of her. I know there was a battle outside, but I couldn’t leave her side. Xazul and I were breaking without them.
Doc finished cleaning her up and I immediately went to her side. I held her hand and stroked her hair. “I love you Alexia Athanas Carty. You are my only one” I whispered to her. “You left me with the most beautiful creations, but you’re not here to enjoy it with me. Please come back”.
Helio
It was the next day, probably around 4pm when the bit of rogues left took off. We defeated them today, but I have a feeling is not over and I’m ready to ended for good. But now all I was thinking about is Lexy laying on that bed. Seeing her with no life broke my heart. Seeing CJ breaking down like that after losing her mate, I couldn’t take it.
I went and got cleaned up and returned to the room. Everything from birth was cleaned up and so was Lexy. CJ was cleaned up too and appeared to have fallen asleep with his head laying right next to hers while he held on to her hand. I could tell he had been crying until he passed out. I was whispering to her when CJ woke up. “I’m sorry to wake you. I just needed to be with her” I spoke low to him.
