Chapter 57- Connected

I feel stronger and braver. It has been a week since the attack. Dad didn’t let me help him in the investigation because of the babies. I thought it would be easier and faster to get the information but after 2 days he got it. Does rogues have something to do with mom’s kidnapping. They wouldn’t reveal who their leader is or the location of their base before they died from their wounds.
I know I could have gotten more information, but I understand where dad and CJ came from. The overprotective man in my life and I couldn’t ask for more even when they get annoying and sometimes overbearing. The days have consisted of training, learning the traditions, using my powers without depleting my energy, and eating a lot of tasty meals. This pregnancy has given me the biggest appetite. Today’s training showed me a new technique of combining my powers with physical attack.
After the training dad took me to see the territory with better details. Afterwards he took me to the sacred hidden grounds behind the waterfall. I was left speechless at what I saw. It was beautiful surrounding. There were statues surrounded by gorgeous flowers and in the center of the sacred grounds was a statue of a phoenix with spread wings. “Is breath taking dad” I couldn’t help but say it. “This is the second phoenix sacred grounds. The first one is in our homeland in Greece” he responded with nostalgia in his tone.
“Can you tell me about your home?” I couldn’t help but ask. All we ever talked about so far was about the prophecy, magic, enemies, or training. He led me to the center of the sacred grounds and helped me sit down. After he sat down he began to talk. “I haven’t gone back in a decade. But what I can tell you is the freedom of open space and how close the whole community is. No one goes hungry and no kids are ever alone. The land is fruitful, and the air is refreshing since we can access the ocean”.
I was mesmerized by everything dad said about his homeland. “How come you haven’t returned in so long?” “I left the pack running with my right-hand woman. Which is my aunt from my mom’s side. I came here for safety at first and then stayed” said dad. “What do you mean for safety?” I had to ask. “Our enemies attempted to assassinate me. We thought the line ended with me, but I couldn’t be with another besides my fated mate” was his response. I probably looked like a fish out of water with the shock on my face of hearing him say that because he chuckled. That got me out of the shock and laughed with him.
“Finding mom is important for both of us. And we both need answers that she can only give us” I spoke seriously. He nodded in agreement. “Since you brought up your mom, we have a lead on where they might be keeping her. We found clues in the items the rogues were carrying, and I’ll be leaving tonight with my elites to get her back” he said while looking at me tenderly. “Now, to what I really brought you here for”. I tilted my head trying to figure out what he said. “To finalize and prove you are my daughter blood must be spilled” he said clearly. I stepped back and he said “Don’t be scared my child. Is a cut on your palm and blood drops hit the ground. If the ground lights up, you are the Great Phoenix” he finished speaking.
CJ was going to step in, but I put my hand up to stop him. I nodded in agreement and placed my hand in his. He did a small slit in my hand, and I fisted my hand and squeezed hard. Blood began to drip on the ground. My dad stepped away and stood by CJ. At that moment the statue’s eyes began to glow along with the ground. I began to feel a huge surge of power going through me and it was comforting.

The ground was lit up and so did the statues. After a moment she began to glow too and began to levitate in the air. Her body rotated to a laying position while levitating and then caught on fire. I was going to run to her, but Helio stopped me from getting to her. “She’s ok. Don’t interrupt the ritual please” Helio said. The fire colors kept changing and I became hypnotized. She looked so beautiful and then she transformed into Lei, and I felt Xazul being hypnotized too. We were in aww with everything that had to do with them.
After a couple of minutes passed things calmed down and she began to come down from her levitation. Helio nudged me to get her as she came down. The moment I caught her we lid up like a light beam. But all my focus was on her. She looked at me with her glowing eyes while her hands came around my neck and she spoke. “We are one my love”. She kissed me with passion, and I followed her lead. When we separated I waw looking into her green eyes that I love so much. “Hi mate” I said to her. She gave me a big smirk and snuggled to my chest. “Can we eat now?” she mumbled on my chest. I chuckled at that and told her yes.
We heard Helio chuckle and began to walk to lead us out the waterfall and back to the packhouse. He had already had food ready for Lexy and her eyes lid up at all the food. “Dig in my child. You need it” Helio spoke to her. She hugged him and then took a sit. I smiled and sat next to her rubbing her back.
After eating Lexy was ready for a nap. I decided to lay with her and hold her tight. I love how she snuggles into me. I understood at this moment the meaning of being ‘one’ the way she’s been saying it. I’m not sure what happened in the sacred grounds but is amazing how close I feel to her and the babies.
