Chapter 15- The Aftermath

We made it to the kitchen and like always my family was being loud in a good way. I could tell Lexy was nervous, so I led the way and sat her down and I took place right next to her. I went down the line and introduced her to everyone. “You already met my mom Beta Sheera. Next to her is my dad Beta Angel. And last but not least to my right is my brother Alex”. I paused for a moment and then said with a cheese smile “Everyone this is my Mate Lexy”.
When I looked at her she was blushing every shade of red. “I knew it!!” my mom said excitedly. “You knew what?” I responded. “That you had found your mate” she smiled with her response. “How?” “Since your birthday you’ve been smiling from ear to ear and I’ve been picking up a sweet scent on you and the house”. “Bienvenida a la Familia!” “She said welcome to the family” I repeat to Lexy. She smiled at my family. “Gracias por todo” Lexy surprised me with her response. After everyone picked up their jaws from the table we began to eat and get to know Lexy.
After breakfast we headed to my parents’ office to discuss what happened to Lexy and her mom. I knew this was going to be hard for her, but I knew it needed to be done and we needed the information she had to continue investigating.
Lexy
I was dreading finishing breakfast, but I took this time to enjoy CJ’s family while I prepared mentally for what was coming next. We went to his parents’ office and sat down around the sitting area they had. “Please tell us what happened?” Sheera asked softly. CJ held my hand telling me it was going to be okay. I began to tell them everything from the moment I got to my window until the moment I got to their house. I ended it by saying “I wish I would have shown up on time and not dismissed her earlier that day.”
“What do you mean dismiss her earlier in the day?” Angel asked curiously. “I was getting ready to leave to go on a date with CJ, when she stopped me and told me to be home by 8. That she needed to talk to me” I responded sadly. “Please tell me what’s going on and what happened to my mom”. Sheera began to talk “We didn’t know where you stayed at, so we began by trying to follow your bikes tired marks. But that only got us so far due to the rain.” Then Angel chimed in saying “But then noticed the area and realized we were near the new expansion where new homes were built. We began searching that area and came across your home.” He paused and looked down and so did Sheera.
“What happened mami y papi?” CJ asked with worry in his tone. “The door was open, and no one was in the house. But it looks like there might have been a fight” said Sheera. “We think they took your mom, and she didn’t go without a fight. We also smelled a weird, repugnant scent in your house.” “Like something mixed with rogue” Angel finished the details. I began to cry. CJ held me close to his chest. “I’m going to take her back to my room. Love you guys” CJ told his parents. Next thing I knew, he was picking me up in his arms and walking out of the office.
CJ
I held her so tight while taking her to my room. As I was about to walk through my room door, she placed her hand on my cheek. I looked at her and she was looking right back at me. I closed my eyes and leaned into her hand. I opened my eyes and the way she was looking at me stole my heart and took my breath away.
I finished walking into my room, closed the door and laid her on my bed. As I was about to walk away, she held me by the arm and pulled me on top of her. “Please stay with me” she said in a low tone. I gave her a peck on the lips and laid next to her while still holding on to her. She turned to face me and snuggled herself in my chest. I kissed the top of her head and just held her until we both fell asleep.
There was a knock on my door that woke me up. I looked to my side and Lexy was waking up too. Another knock sounded and I stood up and answered. “Mijo is dinner time. You 2 need to eat. Bajen (come down)” my mom said calmly. “What?? Is night already?” I said in shock. “Don’t worry mijo. Just come down” she said as she walked away. I closed the door and when I turned around Lexy was sitting on the bed. “Hey” is all I could say. “Hey”. “Let’s go down to eat”. She stood up and extended her hand to me. I grabbed it and we walked down to the kitchen. After dinner we went back to my room and laid down to watch a movie. The next day when I awoke, Lexy was already dressed and holding on to the envelope her mom gave her. “Can you come with me to my house?” she asked me softly while looking at me. I nodded my head and got up to get ready. “By the way, good morning” I said as I walked out of the room.
After breakfast, we hopped on my truck and headed to her house. When we walked through the door we could see what my parents were talking about. I let her lead the way. We went to her room, and she packed up a bag. Once she finished getting her things she walked out of her room and headed to another room. I followed her guessing it was her mom’s room. She began to ransack the room. “What are you looking for?” I don’t know if she didn’t hear me or was ignoring me, but she just kept going through the room. She was about to go into the closet when I grabbed her by her shoulder and pulled her into my arms. “Is ok. I’m here with you”. I held her tight and let her get it all out. Once her breathing calmed down I loosened my grip on her, but she held me tighter and snuggled to me. "Thank you" I heard her muffled on my chest. I kissed the top of her head. 'She's our precious treasure. We'll make her happy and safe' Xazul said with a wolfish grin.
