Chapter 31- Aftermath

I was watching her go to the bathroom and as I waited to see her come out, the bathrooms caught fire. The alarms went off and everyone was freaking out trying to find their way out of the mall. I tried to run as fast as I could to the bathroom, but everyone was getting in the way. When I finally made it, the whole bathroom doorway was in flames. “Lexy!!!” I couldn’t help but scream her name. We wanted to go in, but the flames were too wild, and it was too hot. There was no other way in. I was desperate when I saw her walking through the flames. As soon as she approached me, I held her so tight. I didn’t want to let her go. “Are you alright? Did you get hurt?” I asked her while looking her over. I took off my shirt and put it on her since her clothes had burnt some.
“I’m fine. I don’t think I’m hurt” she responded confused. While I was running towards the bathrooms I had told the girls to call the gamma while I also mind-linked my brother that something was happening in the mall to keep a look out. I’m glad that Alpha Trevor set up my brother and 4 more warriors to keep an eye. I just hope he gets caught because I don’t like her life being put in danger. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms. I began to walk towards the table we were at to meet up with her friends and grab her shopping, then we headed towards my truck where one of the warriors was waiting for us.

CJ carried me all the way into the truck. I was okay with it since I was trying to process what just happened and what I did. I noticed that the girls seemed worried about me, and I snapped from my thoughts. “I’m okay girls. Just a bit shaken up but I’m alright” I reassure them. We made it to the clubhouse and the girls went into the game room while CJ and I headed to the conference room. Once inside I couldn’t help but speak up “Did they catch him?”. I needed to know. “Still waiting for confirmation from Gamma Rick” responded Alpha Trevor. “Explain to me what happened in detail please?” We sat down and told him everything that happened from the moment we entered the mall till we arrived at the packhouse.
5 minutes after we finished reporting the events Alpha Trevor grew serious. He was getting a mind-link, and I couldn’t tell by his face expression if it was good or bad. After what felt like an eternity, he spoke up. “They caught him trying to escape through the north side of our territory. He got sloppy and they tracked his movements from the mall towards the north border” he explained to us. I felt a relief but not I had questions that needed to be answered by that man. “What’s going to happen now?” I couldn’t help but ask him. “We will try to get as much information as possible. Hopefully it’ll leave to answers that you’re looking for and who’s behind all of this” he responded without hesitation.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I set that fire. I know I was trying to separate them but didn’t make a proof plan and now I’m trying to get away before I get caught by the pack. I missed my chance to get her and get out. Everything is so screwed up right now. I couldn’t stop beating my own ass that I didn’t pick up that someone was approaching me. Before I knew it, I was caught by 4 warriors, and I was beating my ass more since I didn’t bring my last attempt things in case I get caught. Didn’t get a chance to think much since out of nowhere one of them knocked me out.

Alex was present when the guy was caught, and he was the one to knock him out. He said the guy was pretty big but seemed disheveled. I guess Lexy escaping the first time took a toll on him. They kept him unconscious until the unscented spray wore off. It can give us a clue to what pack area he might belong to and his rank. Or if he’s a rogue being paid by someone else to do their dirty work. The wait was driving me crazy but I can’t imagine what is going through Lexys mind right now. Since we got the news from Alpha Trevor, she has been quiet. “Hey muñeca. How are you holding up?” I asked curiously. She didn’t seem to hear me. I approach her while she is sitting on the bed. I put my arm around her and that seemed to snap her. “Hmm” is all that she said. “Muñeca are you alright? Talk to me” I say to her. “I’m sorry. I was thinking about the fire. Can we go outside and try something” she asks holding back something. “Sure” is all I say. We head outside to the back of the house and when we arrive at our pit fire she stops.

“I know you might think I’m crazy, but I don’t want you to worry” I tried to reassure him. “Can you help me light the fire pit?” “Sure. But you’re planning to tell me what you’re trying to do” he asked very curious. Once he lit the fire pit, I told him to back away from it. Once he had distance between the fire and myself, I went for it. I stuck my arm in the fire. CJ began to run towards me when he saw my arm in the fire, but I stopped him when I took my arm out and it wasn’t burnt. He was left dumbfounded. “I know and I’m sorry for scaring you” I began but he stopped me before I could continue. “Next time tell me what you’re thinking before you kill me of a heart attack” he said half serious. I nodded sheepishly.
He kissed me and then I explained what Lei said in the bathroom and my theory. “This was my last clue that makes me think I have something to do with fire. I felt comfort in the flames” I explained some more to him. “That makes total sense. I get it” he response and then kisses me. I stick my arm in the fire again and he pulls it out. Still not burnt or feel any type of pain on it. I just chuckled at him. I have a feeling I can do more with fire than just not feeling pain and feeling comfort. I just need to figure out what that has to do with almost being taken.
