Chapter 125- Mystery Guess
Lexy
I didn’t recognize the voice or the face of the man that spoke. All I know is that I didn’t get a good feeling. “Please introduce yourself” I tell him. Everyone was waiting for his response. It seemed no one recognized him by the confusion in their faces.
The man, dressed in a dark suit that seemed too formal for the occasion, slowly stood up. He had a confident yet unsettling air about him. His eyes scanned the room with an intensity that made everyone shift uncomfortably in their seats.
"My name is Adrian," he began, his voice calm but authoritative. "I come from one of the northern territories." After he said that is when I noticed the look on the other northern Alpha’s faces. They tried to hide their feelings, but they weren’t good at it.
I chose to keep the conversation at the conference and ask Adrian questions. “What would you like to happen out of this meeting? And how could we assist?”
“Thank you, queen Alexia. I came to hear things first. I’ll give my opinion once everyone is done” he responded arrogantly and nonchalant. ‘Something is off about him’ Lei said to me. ‘Be careful’. I can’t fully pick up on his power and that bothers me a lot.
As the conference proceeded, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Adrian's presence was like a dark cloud looming over the gathering, and his silence only added to the discomfort. Representatives exchanged uneasy glances, whispering among themselves, trying to make sense of the stranger among them.
"Let's move forward with the agenda," I urged, trying to steer the conversation back on track. However, my words felt hollow; the unease that Adrian had introduced was palpable.
The day's sessions went on, marked by heated debates and passionate speeches. Yet, Adrian remained an enigma, his eyes never lose that penetrating intensity. When he finally spoke again, it was with clarity and precision that cut through the murmur of the room.
"I believe the time has come for me to share my thoughts," Adrian announced, standing up once more. The room fell silent, every eye fixed on him, every ear attuned to his words.
He laid out his vision for the future, a plan that involved drastic changes to the existing territorial boundaries and alliances. His proposals were radical, even controversial, but they were delivered with such conviction that it was hard to dismiss them outright.
Despite my reservations, I couldn't deny the impact Adrian was having on the conference. His ideas were sparking new conversations, challenging old beliefs, and forcing everyone to think beyond their usual constraints. It was clear that Adrian was a force to be reckoned with, and his influence would be felt long after the conference ended.
As the day drew to a close, I couldn't shake the feeling that his arrival marked the beginning of a new chapter for our tribe—a chapter filled with uncertainty, but also with potential for growth and change. What remained to be seen was whether we would rise to the challenge or falter under the weight of his presence. We have 2 more days before the conference comes to an end and some decisions could be made.
Everyone headed to the dining hall to enjoy the banquet we prepared. I took this opportunity to observe everyone in the room and hopefully see if their intentions are pure. Everyone seems to be mingling well and enjoying themselves. But looking around I can’t seem to find Adrian.
‘Tarria. I need you to investigate something. Find all the information you can on Adrian’ I mind-linked to her. ‘Yes, my queen. Understood’ she responded. As I finished mind-linking Tarria I spotted Adrian walking to his seat. With Adrians presence I chose to not introduce the kids to the other packs.
Adrian's inscrutability continued to gnaw at me. As the banquet progressed, I noticed how effortlessly he held back with the representatives, his silence made them uncomfortable, his simple words weaving a web of mystery.
I couldn't allow him to put fear on the members. My duty was to my people, and I needed to ensure that any decisions made were truly in our best interest. As I watched Adrian, I felt a growing urgency to uncover the truth behind his intentions.
The next day, as the conference resumed, Tarria approached me with a folder in her hands. "My queen, I have gathered the information you requested," she said quietly.
"Thank you, Tarria. Please, tell me what you have found."
She opened the folder and revealed a series of documents, each detailing Adrian's background and affiliations. "Adrian is a skilled strategist with connections to several influential factions. He has a history of orchestrating political shifts and reshaping alliances. His methods are unconventional, but they are effective."
Listening to Tarria's findings only heightened my caution. Adrian was not merely a stranger; he was a calculated force, capable of altering the course of our future. I knew that the next two days of the conference would be pivotal, and we had to be prepared for the challenges ahead.
He finally chose to speak and tell us his peace. “All I demand is..YOU” Adrian said without ever letting his demeanor down. Everyone was left speechless including me. “HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!?” CJ growled out. I caught him smirking for a moment at CJ’s reaction. I took hold of CJ’s hand and calmed him down. This wasn’t the moment to lose our heads. I decided to respond in a way no one expected.
“Thanks for the joke and I apologize for my king’s outburst. Now to get back to business. How can we help each other to establish relations?” I spoke with a light tone. Some of the representatives chuckled at my light response. Now I was just waiting for Adrians’ response.
He chuckled and you could tell it was malicious. “I’m sorry my queen and king. Bad joke” Adrain responded sarcastically. Everyone seemed to be holding on to their seats waiting for what Adrain would say next.
