Chapter 18- The Find
CJ
She was heating up but this time it didn't burn me. I couldn't understand what was happening, but all I cared right now was to make sure she was good. At first I thought it wasn’t working since her eyes were bright orange. But after a moment of the passionate kiss, she was back to her beautiful green eyes. “What was that?” asked Alpha Trevor. “We don’t know yet. With everything that’s been happening she hasn’t had a chance to figure that out” I responded. She just kept looking at me until she was back to her senses.
“What happened? How did you do that?” she asked confused. “Last time at the lake when we kissed, it seemed to have worked. So I gave it a shot” is all I could respond. “Alpha Trevor. Can you give her sometime to adjust and figure out somethings before she can answer any more questions?” my mom asked. “No problem. Let her rest and have her see the doctor too. As soon as you feel up to it, let me know” “Yes, Alpha” we said in unison.
I decided to carry out of the office instead of letting her walk. Once we were out of the office, my mom was giving us the eye. As soon as we went inside the suite we stayed at, my mom let it loose. “Ahi Dios mio. You guys are mated” she said with too much excitement. Lexy went all shades of red and all I could do was laugh and nod. “Don’t be ashamed Lexy. We’re family and is all normal. Now come here and give me hug”. Lexy went to hug my mom, but all I heard was “Ouch” coming from my mom. “She’s hot mijo. Take her to the doctor.” I went to her, but she was warm, not hot. I listened to my mom and took her to the doctor.

We got to the doctor’s office, and he didn’t seem to be interested in seeing us. He didn’t have a choice with the look CJ was giving him. “Okay. What seems to be the..” he couldn’t finish his sentence. When he went to put his stethoscope to check her heart, he got burned. “WTF” he yelled. A nurse came in hearing the doctor scream. “Is everything alright doc?” “Yeah, I’m fine. Go” the Doc said forcefully. ‘I don’t like the doc’ Leila let me know. ‘We should go’. ‘We can’t without the checkup. He’ll find it suspicious. I Just don’t understand this heat’ I responded concerned. ‘I’ll help with the heat, to get him to finish’.
The Doc was coming back again to check my heart and then lungs, and everything was fine. He tried to figure out what happened a moment ago, but just shrugged it off. “She’s fine. Her vitals are good. She can go” he said annoyed. I grabbed CJ’s hand and practically flew out of there. Once we were in his truck, I told him what Leila told me. He immediately mind-linked his dad and let him know. He drove us back to the packhouse and made it right at lunchtime. I don’t know why, but I was so hungry. I was excited they made pizzas. I love pizza.
I noticed CJ looking at me while I ate. I finished chewing, looked at him and stuck my tongue at him. After that I turned back around and kept eating. He laughed and continued to eat too. When we finished eating he took me to the back of the packhouse where the fountain was at. We sat on the bench and started to talk about little things of our life. After 10 minutes of chatting, I decided to face what was happening and get answers. “Hey. How about we go to the room and open the things we got from my mom’s room?” He didn’t say anything, just stood up and took my hand. He helped me stand up. He kissed the back of my hands while looking at me and made me blush. I grabbed his face and gave him a deep kiss. He was stunt for a moment and I pulled on his hand to start walking to the room with me. I couldn't help thinking about all the crazy shit that has happened. 'Don't blame yourself. You'll get the answers soon' Leila try to console me, but it her way of saying was making me think she wasn't saying something to me. But i didn't want to push her.
When we got to the room, he went straight under the bed and took the bags out. I gave him a look, but he shrugged with a smirk. “Just dump it all on the bed” I said as I walked towards him. I grabbed all the folders and sat down on the floor. When CJ joined me on the floor, he was the last envelope my mom gave me. My eyes got teary, but I held it back. I can cry later, I told myself. I choose to start with the envelope first. Just thinking of my mom made me more determined to start with that. I had to start with it.
I opened it and dropped the contents on the floor. There was a key, some papers and 2 pictures. I gravitated to the pictures. When I picked them up I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. It was me as a baby in the hands of a man I’ve never seen. On one picture the man is kissing my baby cheeks, and on the other one he was holding me with one arm facing the camera while I was laughing and the other his other hand had fired. ‘That’s our papa’ Leila decided to express out. ‘What?’ I responded. ‘He’s our papa. Look at the back of the picture.’ And so, I did. There it was, (Baby Phoenix and Papa) is all the writing said.
I handed it to CJ and his jaw dropped. “Why did he refer to you as Baby Phoenix? Do you think it has to do on why you heat up the way you do?” is all that came out of his mouth. I put the pictures to the side and grabbed the papers. The first papers were about a bank account with my name on it. The next couple of papers were from the bank but with different number and something about a box. I couldn’t read all of it now. What followed was hospital papers from the day I was born. When I got halfway through the papers, I got to see my birth certificate. Is my birth certificate but is not the one I’m used to seeing. Even my last name was different. The one I’ve seen had only my mom’s name. a simple copy. I looked at CJ to make sure what I was seeing was real. Then I turned back to the papers to keep looking at what I was reading. On this birth certificate, under my mom’s name was the lines that say father’s name, I saw it. I finally had a name to a man I’ve never knew.
