Chapter 136
Jennifer
We arrived at Romeo’s friends printing place. Having the art director there was such a relieved. I told her what my vision was and she brought it to life. I couldn’t believe how quickly she snapped what I wanted she even made it more beautiful than I imagined. Romeo was just as happy as I was with the end result. She told us we will have our invites by the Tuesday and then we can send them out. She would even put the addresses on the envelopes we just needed to provide her with a guest list by tomorrow, which meant I needed to ask my dad who he wanted there and what there addresses where. I’m not really a fan of doing it but we did promise him a wedding which means I need to do it. This wedding is basically just for him if it was up to me and Romeo we would have eloped. When we were done with the art director and she told us what else she will print for us Romeo and I got back in the SUV and we where on our way to my fathers’ lunch. “You ready darling?” Romeo asked as we drove into my father’s estate. “I’m use to this, are you ready?” “Just keep me from hitting him and we will be okay.” I had to laugh at that. “Oh, there is your smile.” “You did that on purpose?” “Yes, darling although you are use to this, being the Sunday lunch, you look like you are going to a funeral I had to make you laugh one way or another.” I leaned towards him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, Romeo.” “Anytime darling.”
When Lucas stopped in front of the door, Romeo got out and open my door for me holding out his hand to help me out of the SUV. Peter my father’s butler/driver was standing at the front door waiting for us. “Hi Peter.” “Hi Jennifer. Mr. Bianchi.” “Peter.” Romeo said in way of greeting him. “My dad in his office?” “Yes, let me take you to him.” “You do know I know the way to his office, right?” “Off course Jennifer but it’s my job.” “Well then lead the way.” We normally started in my father’s office because he wanted to go over the events of the week but now, I’m not attending events with him anymore so why we are starting in his office only God will know. Peter knocked on the door before he opened the door and walked in “Miss Jennifer and Mr. Bianchi Sir.” He announced us, this is new, I thought. But non the less we walked in, my father got up and shook Romeo’s hand and just said “Hi Jenn.” “Dad” I took my normal seat on the opposite side of his desk and Romeo came to sit next to me. “I see you are feeling better.” My dad said. “No not really but I knew if we didn’t come you will be upset.” I told him. “Yes, and God forbid your daughter stay in bed and recover. She needs to be here for Sunday lunch.” Romeo went on. “You didn’t have to come Romeo.” “It’s not me I’m worried about Brad it’s Jennifer.” “Well, I’m her father and I know what’s best for her and seeing me on a Sunday is best for her. You already took some of the Sunday’s away from me.” “Okay we are not going into that. You compromised with Romeo it’s a done deal. Now why are we in your office?” I said, my dad’s eyes got big and Romeo gave me a smile. He was right I did stand up for myself more and by the look on my father’s face he didn’t like it at all.
“We are here because we need to talk about this wedding you are having.” “Okay what about it?” Romeo asked. “Well, I still think it’s a bad idea and I do think you should reconsider.” I got up from my seat and walked to the door without saying a word. Romeo just looked at me saying nothing waiting for me to make a move. “And were do you think you are going little lady?” My dad asked. He only calls me little lady when his upset or wants a fight. “I’m leaving. You agreed to the wedding and now you think it’s a bad idea. I’m marrying Romeo and that is final you can live with it or say good bye to me right here and I will never and I mean never come back I’m done dad done with you ruling my life. You should make a decision very quickly because if I walk out of this door, you will never see me again or your grandchildren you are trying to force on us.” It got so quiet in the office you could hear a pin drop. I was holding my breath, yes, he gets under my skin, yes, he tries to rule my life or should I say he did rule my life but unfortunately, he stays my dad and the only family I have. But I will walk out it doesn’t matter how hard it will be I will walk out and never come back. “No need to be so melodramatic Jenn come sit down. I had to try for the last time.” I turned around and looked at him “You sure it’s the last time?” “Yes, I promise I won’t say anything about the wedding again.” My dad said. Romeo looked at me then to my dad waiting for the next shoe to drop. “I promise you dad if you tell us not to get married one more time. I promise you you will never ever see me again.” He could see I was serious. “Okay fine I won’t say another thing about it. Now come and sit down.” Romeo got up pushed his hand into my hair and kissed me in front of my dad not a quick peck a real kiss. I heard my dad clearing his throat a few times but Romeo didn’t let me go. He let go when he was done, then he looked me in the eyes and said “I’m proud of you darling.” The look on my father’s face was priceless.
