The next day I went to meet Eva; I wanted to talk to her about the opening of my bakery but I also wanted to tell her about the baby. It will be the first person I tell that is not staff but actually a friend. I met her in her office. “Hi Jenn.” “Hi Eva how are you?” “I’m good but how are you? How was the honeymoon? Tell me everything.” I could see she was eyeing my neck but she didn’t ask me anything about it. “Well, I’m good, the honeymoon was amazing we went to the Maldives then to Hawaii then I went to Switzerland while Romeo had to sort something out.” “Oh my God your lucky fish the Maldives I love it there.” “Have you been?” “Yes, a very long time ago, those blue waters, it’s absolutely stunning.” “It really is.” I couldn’t tell her about the bad things that happened I just told her all about the good things the swimming in the ocean, the scuba diving just the hearts and flower stuff. “May I ask what happened to your neck?” She asked after I told her all about the honeymoon. “Oh yes clumsy me I actually walked through a sliding door and got cut.” “Oh my God Jenn it could have been so much worse.” “I know that is what Romeo is telling me as well, but I have other news. Actually 2 things.” “Oh, do tell.” I loved talking to Eva she was so excited about everything I told her she made me excited about things to. “Well first of all I’m pregnant.” It got quiet and she looked at me with big eyes. “Seriously?” She asked eventually. “Yes, seriously I’m pregnant.” “Oh my God congratulations Jenn that is the best news ever, how far along?” “Still very early days you are the first person I’ve told that isn’t staff.” “I’m so honored thank you for trusting me with this information.” “Off course I trust you.” “And the second news?” “That is where I need your help.” “Okay what is it?” “Romeo bought me another bakery, a spot where I always wanted one, on the strip.” “Oh, wow Jenn that is so exciting. Off course I will help with anything I can.” “You are really the best Eva thank you so much.” “Now tell me what are you thinking and when?”
“Well, the when is next week Friday.” “Oh goodness that doesn’t give us a lot of time.” “It’s not going to be a lot of people, 25 at most.” “Okay what do you need from me?” “Do you think the chef that did our wedding can do some Hors d-oeuvre.” “Yes, off course he can.” “Then I want to do a wine and cupcake pairing as the main event.” “That sounds amazing Jenn, we can certainly do that. You want to go to the chef right now and tell him your flavors and he can come up with the wine?” “You think he would mind?” “Jenn you are the wife of the man that pays his salary he can’t mind.” That made me smile I didn’t think about it like that. “Okay let’s go.” While we walked to the chef restaurant, I explained to Eva that I want one big table where everyone can sit and the cupcakes and wine can be served like that, before hand the people can stand around and eat some of the Hors d-oeuvre. Eva made a note of it and told me she will have tables and white chairs delivered to the bakery the Thursday. I was so glad, Romeo brought us together. “Chef” Eva called as we walked into the kitchen. “Eva hello how are you?” “I’m good I have Mrs. Bianchi with me.” “Mrs. Bianchi.” “Call me Jennifer please and first of all I want to thank you for the best wedding food I’ve ever tasted.” “I’m sure you are a bit biased I mean it was your wedding.” “I’m not it was definitely the best and everyone said so.” “Thank you very much Jennifer, I really appreciate it. What can I help you with today.” “Well, we need horse d-oeuvres for 25 people for next week Friday.” Eva told him. “Okay anything in specific?” He asked me. “No, you go crazy with the menu. The main attraction of the evening will be my cupcakes but I want to pair them with a wine can you help me with that, I’m not as good with wine as I am with cupcakes.” “Yes, off course I’ll help you tell me what flavors cupcakes you going to have and I’ll sort the wine out.” “You are the best thank you so much. I’m looking at a Pomegranate Cupcake, Pumpkin cupcake, Makataan Cupcake, Red velvet cupcake, Carrot cupcake and the last one a rich chocolate cupcake.” “Okay great I’ve got that let me think about it and I’ll get the wines for you. Can I offer say 3 waiters for you for the evening.” “That would be great thank you so much, between you and Eva I remembered things I didn’t thought about.” “We are here to help Jennifer.” “Well, I really appreciate it.”
Eva and I walked out of the restaurant and back to her office. “You want to take me to your bakery? Then I can make sure of the kind of tables I should send over.” “If you don’t mind.” “Off course not.” Eva and I walked outside to find Levi and Elijah waiting for me. We both got in the back of the SUV and I told Elijah to take us to the bakery. When we got there Eva was so impress with the space. “This is a gold mine Jenn.” “I know right. I always wanted this spot but it was just to high prized luckily for me apparently my husband owns this building.” “You are really lucky this is really the perfect spot. And the space is not too small, you will easily fit 25 people in here and the staff with the tables and chairs I was thinking of.” “Amazing so do you have everything you need?” I asked Eva “I do. What about a lunch.” Eva asked me “If I’m not keeping you from something I would love to have lunch with you.” “Well then let’s get back to the hotel and have some lunch.”
On our way back to the hotel my phone rang, I looked at the caller ID and saw it was my OBGYN. “Sorry Eva I need to take this.” “No worries.” Eva started to work on her phone while I answered “Hello Doctor.” “Jennifer how are you?” “I’m okay still just tired and not feeling as good as I think I should.” “Your blood work came back and we need to talk.”
