I couldn’t believe Brad was like this over Sunday lunch. “You wanna come to my office while I call your dad?” I asked Jenn. “Yes, he might want to talk to me.” “No, I’m talking to him not you.” “Fine Romeo, I’m just telling you he will ask for me.” “Well, we need to stand together darling he needs to know if the one says no the other one will to.” “So, we are using my dad as a Guinea pig to practice for children.” I just looked at her and laugh. “If you want to put it that way then yes. He acts like a child most of the time in anycase.”
I took Jenns hand and we walked to my office before I let her sit on the chair in front of my desk, I gave her a kiss and then kiss the mark I left in her neck. “I’m sorry darling you might have a love bite right here.” I said with a sneaky smile. “Romeo.” She berated me. “I’m sorry I got lost in the moment.” She laughed “It’s okay I’ll cover it up with make up.” I let her sit in the chair and dialed her father’s number but put the call on speaker. “Where are you, Romeo?” he answered the phone “Hello Brad. I send you a message informing you we won’t be coming today but still you send both Jennifer and I a shit load of messages.” “Well, you said you will come today and I thought you are a man of your word?” “Well Brad if you recall we where at your place Friday night.” “Yes, so it’s not Sunday lunch?” “You didn’t let me finish my sentence, Brad.” Jennifer was smiling at me while I was trying to get a word in with her dad. “That meeting with you on Friday hurt both Jennifer and me and we felt it best not to come to Sunday lunch today nothing good will come of it.”

I could see she was getting teary. “Discussion close Brad we are not coming today and we will decide about children, Jennifer and I as you heard your name was not in that equation.” “But the chef already made lunch.” “Invite someone else we are not coming. And Brad, I will see you tomorrow morning at 10 we need to speak about your profit and lost excel sheet you send me.” “I’m busy at 10.” Brad said. “I don’t care I’ll be there at 10. Good bye.” That got me a smile from Jennifer. “You, okay?” I asked her. “I’m okay thank you for that.” “I told you it’s me and you Jenn, you and me against the world.”

I couldn’t believe Romeo talked to my dad like that. I was glad he could because any young guy I would have dated would have just said ‘Yes sir, no sir’ Romeo was definitely what I needed. When my dad said I would make a good mother I could feel my eyes getting watery. I didn’t know if I’ll ever be a good mother my own mom died when I was young and the only example of a parent figure, I have is my dad and I know I don’t want to be like him towards my children. Maybe that is why I’ll make a good mother because I will make sure I’m not acting like my dad. When Romeo put the phone down, I was really in Aw of him. He didn’t care what my father did or say and he told him when he will be in his office if he had plans or not. I loved that, I actually laughed a bit when he said that.
