While I was lying in the bath and listening to Romeo it was clear he spoke to my dad and it didn’t go the way he wanted it to go, but I decided I’m not going to delf into that tonight I was just too tired and to be totally honest I didn’t have the strength to hear what my dad said. So, I told Romeo what happened in my day. When I told him everything, he wasn’t upset with me that I didn’t call him first he was just glad I was okay. “Jenn, I know you not going to like what I have to say now but I think you should stay home tomorrow.” “But the bakery?” “Call your employee and ask her if she will be okay tomorrow, it will be good for you to just relax and get yourself together.” “Okay I’ll phone Eleanor not because you said so but because I actually agree with you.” “Thank you darling.” I got dressed in one of Romeo’s sweat pants and T-shirt and we made our way downstairs to the kitchen to get something to eat. I didn’t tell him I haven’t eaten at all today and I’m sure the question will come up. We sat in the dining room and Luna came with the food, she made a very nice side salad and some steak and potatoes. It smelled delicious. “Thank you, Luna it looks amazing.” I said to her. Romeo also said thank you and then Luna left. I took a good helping of the salad and potatoes. “Do I need to ask you if you ate today?” I just looked at him. “I’ll give you a pass Jenn but please this is the last time.” “Thank you, Romeo.” We ate our dinner and Romeo talked about every day stuff nothing to deep which I appreciated. When we were done with our dinner Romeo said I should go and call Eleanor. I walked to the small living area at the front door and called Eleanor
“Hi Jenn” she answered. “Hi Eleanor sorry to call so late. How are you doing?” “I’m much better thank you Jenn sorry for dropping you this morning.” “Nonsense you where sick.” “Still I felt bad for leaving you alone.” “Eleanor will you be able to work tomorrow?” “Yes, I’ll be there early.” “Eleanor I’m sorry but I’ll need to take off tomorrow.” “What happened Jenn that is totally not you.” “I know, I had major issues with my dad at the bakery and then Kyle showed up we had a fight then he pushed me I fell and hit my head so I have stiches I just want to take tomorrow to get my shit together.” “Oh my gosh Jenn, no problem you take your time I’ll go in earlier don’t you worry about the bakery. I will take care of it I promise.” “Thank you, Eleanor, but I’m sure it will just be tomorrow.” “Jenn listen to me I’ve got this okay if you need more time of, I’ll get someone to come and help me if you don’t mind.” “I was actually thinking of that today, if you have someone else that needs a job, please get them in and let them help you from tomorrow you can tell me about them when I’m back.” “I’ve got someone in mind I’ll find out if she will be available tomorrow already.” “Great I’ll speak to you tomorrow, Eleanor.” “Look after yourself Jenn please.” “I will” I felt a bit relieved when I disconnected the phone it means I can just relax tomorrow. I went looking for Romeo to tell him the good news. I found him in his office. “Jenn everything okay?” he said as I walked in. “Eleanor said she’ll be in tomorrow and will sort everything out she even has someone in mind that can come and help out.” “And how do you feel about that?” “Actually, I thought today I might need someone else in the kitchen it was just overwhelming being alone.” “Then everything is working out for you.” “In some ways sure.” He got up and came to sit with me on his couch in his office. “I know it was a rough day Jenn but I think we need to talk about your dad.” “I knew this was coming.”

I didn’t want to go into the issue with her dad but I decided she needed to know and with her being off tomorrow she can process this as well. If she couldn’t take tomorrow off, I wouldn’t have put this on her as well. “Okay Romeo just spill it.” She said. “Well to say his stubborn is an understatement.” “You can say that again.” “I’m going to give you the short version.” “Okay” “Well basically he said if I wasn’t as old, he would have chosen me.” I gave her time to let that settle in. “He did not say that?” she said surprised. “Yes, he did. But then he said it will never work.” “Oh” she was just as surprised as I was. “He wants a man for you in his 40s and someone that will keep you in check and give up your bakery.” “So basically, he wants someone like him. Someone that wants to take over my life and doesn’t care about my wants and needs.” “Yes, Jennifer that is what he wants.” She got up and started to pace up and down in front of the couch we were sitting on. “How am I going to get out of this Romeo I can’t marry just anyone and definitely not someone that wants to take over my life.” “Darling calm down I have a solution or plan.” “Oh, okay please tell me?”
