Chapter 108 A Warning
Back in LA, Andrea was tired and missing Case. She’d hated leaving him when his RV was still damaged, but she had to be back on set that day, and he didn’t seem as worried about it as she would have been. He had talked to the manufacturer, and they’d assured him it could be cleaned. Still… it would take a lot of work, and Andrea was furious at Sarah because she knew her half-sister was behind it.
Thank goodness Sarah wasn’t on set that day. Unfortunately, she wasn’t shooting her other film either and had stayed behind in Daytona for one more day. It bothered Andrea to think of her in another state with Case, but she had to trust that her man could take care of himself and find a way to fight her off if she dared get anywhere near him.
Something told her that Sarah would dare.
“Hey, Andrea. How are you?” Cam asked, strolling over to where Andrea sat in the makeup chair. “Can I chat with you for a second?”
“Sure,” Andrea said, noting the cautious tone in his voice. “Is everything okay?”
Cam shook his head back and forth as if he wasn’t exactly sure how to answer that. “Yes and no. I spoke to a representative from the production company Friday evening, after you left. We have a little bit of a legal issue they want me to talk to you about.”
“A legal issue?” Andrea asked, shocked. “What do you mean?”
The director looked at Stephon, who seemed to catch the drift. “I’m just gonna go talk to Nevaeh for a minute,” he said, giving her a sympathetic smile and then heading away.
Taking a few steps closer, Cam said, “I don’t know all of the details, but my understanding is that you signed a nondisclosure agreement with the production company a few years ago? Is that right?”
Andrea nodded, her stomach tightening.
“Well, they seem to think there’s a possibility you may have recently violated that order.”
“What?” Andrea asked, her eyes bulging out of her head. “To the police.”
“And possibly to your boyfriend—they think.”
Tears were starting to form in her eyes, but she fought them. “Cam, the only reason that I said anything to the police was because what happened then is related to what happened this time. The same person is involved. I’m sure of it.”
He nodded in understanding. “Look, Andrea, you know how much I like you. You know you’re one of my favorite actresses to work with. You’re great at what you do. You’re smart, fun, reliable. I’m just passing along a message from the big wigs, okay? They just wanted me to remind you of the nondisclosure, and they said if they find out that you’re in violation of it, there could be fines. I don’t think they’d yank you from this film, but it is something to keep in mind. It would really suck if they did because I don’t have the time, the budget, or the desire to start all over with someone else. All right?”
“Yes, Cam, thank you.”
He gave her another sympathetic smile and then walked away. Andrea wiped tears from her eyes. She should’ve never signed that stupid agreement! Even though Stephon was on his way back over, she pulled her phone out of her pocket. She needed to talk to Case. He was the only one who could make her feel better.
But he wasn’t answering, and she could feel herself becoming more upset. Once again, Sarah was ruining everything. Would she ever just leave them alone?
“Girl, I don’t know what that was about, but don’t be messin’ up my handiwork. It is not worth it, girlfriend.”
Stephon was clearly trying to make her laugh, and she did chuckle slightly as he went about trying to repair the damage. “I’m sorry,” she said.
“Don’t be sorry, just don’t be sad. That’s all there is to it. No cryin’ in baseball—no cryin’ in the makeup chair. Whatever it was Cam had to say, just let it go. Store it in the back of your mind, and use it up there on the set.”
It was good advice, especially since she had a sad scene to do later that day. “Thanks, Stephon.”
She sent Case a text asking him to call when he got a chance and put her phone away, hoping he was having a better day than she was.
